Today we do our first inspection on the Amazon cheapest performance go kart parts. We drain the oil, remove the engine from the bike, and tear into it to see what kind of wear these amazon engine parts have on them. They overall look great until reassembly. That's when the problem shows its ugly face. Will these parts last? Stay tuned.......

If you can’t afford quality, save your money until you can. Buying cheap knockoff parts isn’t a cool way to go fast for less. It’s a shit way of stealing from the original designers of these parts and an awesome way to support a communist economy. Go you.

I broke two ARC rods in 2 different 420 predator motors. One was installed by Vegas Carts and the other was installed by a friend. Both blew holes through the block. One failure occurred at a low speed and the other at high speed. Both builds were street legal motorcycles. I just leave the stock rod alone and never had a problem since.

I work at a dealership as a small engine tech. I've noticed over the last 2-3 years that all hardware is getting really cheap. I haven't gotten a good snap ring in 2 years. When you open them up they won't go back to shape. We've seen rod bolts break the head of the bolt off with less than 20 hours on the unit. Rod bolts back off and you can hear rod slap on a unit with less than 10 hours. That's been on single cylinder Briggs. The Briggs engines our mowers use have gotten bad. That goes from the single cylinder to the small twins. The castings of the blocks is bad. They'll have air pocket pits, even on the mating surfaces. Even the kawasaki engines are starting to have issues. I would definitely support a quality part on a personal build.

I’ve built many 212’s, however I don’t have a lot of extra money to put in these. Bottom end needs American parts, valves and rockers but I’ve found nibbi makes good carbs at good price I’ve been thru dozens of carbs most have plastics That will fail once fuel run thru them. Definitely watch out for cheap fuel lines that will gum up the carb.and pilot jet! Biggest problem I’ve had besides carb failures is intake leaks, this will drive you crazy small leak can give you different symptoms. The vibration in high rpm’s will shake the engine apart. Thread lock is a must.!! Moral of this story is only use Chinese parts if you must, and only use them on the outside of the engine. If something is running 8k rpm between my legs imma make sure it doesn’t blow my junk off ! Arc billet , or forged metal only bottom end and flywheel ! Hope that helps someone from failing many times as I have!

First off a torque to yield bolt breaking when trying to reuse it is not a fail , they are meant to be used 1 time and replaced and it worked fine for that purpose. Second , if I was to build an engine like this I could only afford the cheep parts!

How about getting the weight of the Piston / Rod down some, often milling the back side of the piston with ball mills, or have the crank balanced with heavy metal added.

I found almost all of these motors are rod and piston side heavy. So, I'll polish the crank around the rod journal and remove all the rough casting. That actually helps quite a bit to smooth out the engine vibration.

Great testing!! I think the rod itself is descent quality and tbh all hardware on cheap parts should be replaced with ARP quality hardware like you mentioned. Same example goes for the 30 series chinese torque converters using comet replacements parts like brass bushing and belt. I actually feel arc is top tier in that area because they use ARP bolts which even surpass eccarburetors forged rod bolts.

on my personal engine i use a MARS rod and order titanium bolts. stock bolts are too heavy!! on the chinese flat top piston with no coating,i removed material on the wrist pin side both sides of wrist pin, both sides. then i raise the skirt side 3-4 mm's and match both sides,then remove material off the leading side of crankshaft in the rotation of it, i angle the leading side to an angle to a point to cut thru the oil and let the rod splash lubricate the center. with rod and piston mounted to crankshaft i let it roll on 2 round rod's until it makes 3 to the 4th rotation when i let go of crank with the rod up. now my Ducar does not vibrate and revs very high using the stock wildcat camshaft. next is brown box 320 cam.

@@lungsup we do what it takes to get a balance factor we can live with. also,the crank stroke/arm where the connector rod goes to usually has way to much weight on one side,especially when we switch to an aluminum flywheel. i drop ounces off and open up the entry of the hole where the rod goes onto the crank. great minds think alike!

You can machine the crown but it’s a pain to do. Plus it may be too thin to begin with. You also impact your compression ratio. Some automotive pistons and rods have a balance pad which is an area where you can remove material to make them lighter. Never seen it on a small engine though.

Only issue I don't like about the ARP connecting rod bolts? Every Connecting Rod manufacture that uses ARP rod bolts? They come with very specific instruction on Torquing them and measuring the overall stretch length when Torqued down. This small engine ARP rod bolts do not. I have called a billet rod maker and wrote to them on this issue? They will not respond to me on the Stretch length even after its been used and out of the connecting rod. It scares me to think we are using ARP rod bolts thats being stretched without knowing the overall stretch length and its yield. I do know ARP is a very high quality bolt maker.

I've got a 212 on my rsv and it vibrates soo bad. I have plans to mild build it but I'm worried with the vibrations. The 196 that came on it got ran without oil, but was smooth so that's the reason I replaced it with the 212. Now idk if I should swap it or just build it.

seems the rockers weere ok. but the rod no way would I buy. can you test that piston on a stock or better rod to see if its weight is causing the vibration or is al from the unblanced and uncentered bearing locations. im looking to make my nephews predator 212 non hemi run better I need clean carb but id like to pull the govenor change carbs and bet him a flywheel that can rev higher [one from a tilotson I was thinking and its governed spark.]

Hi there This is great content I will say this I don’t think the rod is a fall it say to change the bolts they are torque to yeild bolts 2 I find that there are a lot of good Chinese parts out there and just for the people who are not wealthy and would like to build carts or bikes I find that if you do your research and follow the proper instructions you should be ok I have been rebuilding small engines since I was about 8 when I was in my back yard shop my dad built for me he would find stuff for me to work on and I would order parts from catalogs and or small shops so I am here to say this if you are having fun Remember low cost doesn’t mean no fun it means you can rebuild and go back the next week end and play your not whating on parts or money I used to carry part for my go cart in my dads truck every time we went out so it may have been cheap parts but I could fix it and keep playing I am not saying that expensive parts aren’t worth the price I am saying I could buy more parts for lease money and have spares to fix and get back to the fun You guys rock Thanks for the content

Based on this information I would buy the cheaper ones but I find most HP engines don’t have enough vibration for my liking I need to feel how they’re running

I don’t mind the Chinese or anyone else entering the market. The problem is the IP theft. Don’t make inferior copies of someone else’s product. Those people put all the money, time and effort into development. Copying it is stealing. If they would design and market their own though, have at it. Ironic to say of course since most of these engines are a knock off of a Honda.
@RedBeardsGarage
@RedBeardsGarage 2 ай бұрын
Well most engine companies like EC make there own blocks and heads. Really the original Honda stuff is the worse performing. I do get what you are saying though. I would like to see China make their own completely original performance parts and put them to the test.
@WalkerSmallEnginePerformance
@WalkerSmallEnginePerformance 2 ай бұрын
@ Yeah, the Tillotson/Ducar, Wildcat, etc is definitely better than Honda. For the performance stuff anyhow. I just hate how the Chinese will copy everyone else’s work then undercut them on price with an inferior product. I used to work for a tool company and I’ve seen the Chinese make cheap copies of other cheap copies. It’s nuts.
