I have been looking for a light weight street /Trail dual sport dirt bike for awhile, saw many different brands of pit bikes available on Amazon and other websites Cheap / Affordable) there’s many different brands Tao Tao, Apollo, Trailmaster. I bought this mini adventure dual sport bike, it’s the X Pro Storm 150cc DLX. Because they are Amazon bikes I was really apprehensive to order one. After riding It a bit i think its going to be a fairly good bike. This video covers some trail riding and a review.

Granted this is not your main content (it appears), this is the best of its kind content. Great quality audio/picture. Awesome commentary with proper cutting in your editing process. I havent found many trail riders on here yet, but so far your content hits all the marks for me. I like your style. Also, just picked up a Storm 150 myself (enduro with a nibbi already installed). Being that i have been a street rider for years I cannot imagine trying to ride this 150cc around. Though i bet it is a very chill ride thats for sure. On the trails it is 100% perfect for light and flickability. Plenty power to have fun with being experienced or someone looking to learn. Esoecially being chinese it gives you plenty opportunity to learn your own mechanics before you go Japanese and start being gouged on repair bills. I raced in my younger teen years, and eventually picked up a sport bike (something about being the fastest on a track is beautiful). But i am retiring from street riding due to the off chance i am altered for life because of someones netflix show dropping a plot twist. Glad i came across your video here. Solidified my confidence in what this bike would do for me. Cant wait to try some competitive stuff down the road, but for now and always this thing will probably be my go to for riding with my family.

These Chinese bikes have come a long way. I'm still over its weight limit, but I could probably putt around on it. Seems like a bargain! I used to ride with guys as good as you when I was a youngster, I kept up okay most of the time, but by the time I sold my bikes they would be 40% zip ties from all the s**t I ate 😂

I’m looking forward to the rest of your videos on the DLX 150. I’ve been riding motorcycles all of my life and have gotten into Chinabikes the last 10 years or so. I have a Hawk 250 that is heavily modded. This little guy looks like the perfect offroad/trail bike for me being that I’m 49, have some arthritis going on, and need a lighter bike for my 160lb frame. Wow... Can't believe im saying this but this vid kinda makes me regret my recent purchase of my 83 XL185s. Love the XL dont get me wrong, its a gem and it rips, but a fully complete bike for the price of the x-pro is pretty darn awesome with turn signals and all. No need to order ebay parts, waiting weeks for delivery and working on the bike for hours after long days at work to get it running and working right. Just assemble, gas, oil and hit the streets/trails for a great price. Love it!

Great video Mike! You've got some experianced riding skills. The bike sounds like its running pretty good out of the box. What elevation are you rinding at? Did you get documentation with the bike for maintenance/valve clearance? It would be interesting to see if the valves are in spec. Like you I'm really looking for something light for trails. I've been leaning toward the templar M but thats another 100 lbs and $650. This has got me rethinking.... Happy New Year!

That's what I love about the small bikes, they're so easy to handle on tight trails. I have a DRZ-125L and it's a blast on trails like that. I used to have an XR250R and it was of course much better on rough terrain, but it was so dang tall and heavy I was having problems handling it in the really tight situations. But I did watch your video on the chinese 250 you got, and that one looks like a nice bike, not too tall.

Some of the newer Chinese, direct to consumer bikes offer a lot. I learned to ride on a '87XR250R and absolutely love that bike. For me, the best bike would be a modern XR250R with e start and kick start, skinny steel frame, low/narrow seat, enough charging for lights, inverted forks, reservoir shock, disc f/r, 21"/18" wheels, LED bulbs and a good carb.

I am highly considering buying one of these. I've got a klr650 but being 5'6 and the bike being over 500lbs with gear strapped to it I'm stuck to logging roads and fire roads, I've tried single track with the klr and it is miserable. It's crazy to me how cheap you can go and still get out there with little to no fuss. I was considering getting an xr100, then I came across this bike. I have dealers in my area that sell these along with all the other chinese bikes. I do a lot of overland camping, I think this would would make a great tool to have on the trail for scouting and to practice some shenanigans on.

the weight of the bike to the displacment of the engine is def a selling point, the shift pattern is definitly a little weird, but I wouldn’t think you’d be going into first too often while riding fast

Your a very good rider mike! I’m really interested in getting this bike now after watching you ride but I bought a brand new Apollo volt 125 and that thing was the biggest piece of garbage and the spokes on both front and rear tires all came loose and popped the tire and literally fell apart all under 50 miles on the bike so I’m really iffy with these Chinese bikes but yours seems much better. Great vid I wanna get out and ride now!

Thanks for checking out my new video! Well time will definitely tell how well it holds up. So far it’s been great but let me get 500 plus miles on it and I will let you know how well it’s been. That’s a bummer about your Apollo bike. I did order a spoke wrench kit to check the spokes, new wheels tend to need some spoke tensioning. Take care and hopefully I can do a 500 mile review before spring, this winter has been really mild so hopefully I can keep getting out on the bike 😊👍

If you can turn your own wrenches, these bikes are great. Stop by Chinariders, and you will learn a lot about these bikes. I love my 200cc for riding around the ranch, trails, gravel roads, etc. It is not a bike for jumps :) A few things that helped mine: Change fork oil (heavier weight and preload spacer), better tubes/tires (harder sidewalls), adjust the valves (if they are set right, they are a one kick start), adjust carb or swap it out (yours actually seems good, most are too lean out of the box). Enjoy the ride!

If you like lightweight machines, you should keep an eye out for a good deal on an eMTB. You won't have the power of a 125cc or 150cc, but they weigh less than 70lbs and can be more versatile as far as what trails you can ride, or taking them in the truck for a camping trip.

You mentioned in another video you're waiting on some version of the Templar 250, and I'm eager to see what you think about it! I have the X.

Got my red DLX Storm 150 recently, really enjoyed your review and am following this build very closely. The OE chain is garbage, but the bike seems ok so far, and is really fun. I haven't tried to register it yet here in Oregon, but fingers crossed. I'm 5'9 and 200 pounds, absolute novice and the bike is the perfect size and weight. I definitely want to lace up some alloys for weight and strength... hoping you find a set of rims that reuse the same spokes! The modular motor is a big plus too. I am likely going to play with the needle position but would be very interested to see how the Nibbi performs... A video on a 22mm vs 24mm would be very interesting (wink wink)... Do you think the Nibbi pit bike intake will fit this bike? I randomly also have a lightly modded BT200x and appreciate the flux-core MIG videos. (have you welded up any fence, gates or railing?). Thanks for the links to the goggles, chain and handguards, looking forward to using them. Keep up the great work sir!!

To be just a 150, it seemed to rip through the trails pretty good.

Brings back memories of running Capitol Forest... I ran the Desert 100 on a KDX 200, will never do that again. Those are woods bikes, NOT desert bikes.

I'm looking at the Trailmaster TM31. Same general size as the Templar 250, but it has a 230cc engine. 16hp for the 230 vs 19hp for the 250. It has a 2 gallon tank and should sip a little less fuel.

I was looking at the Trailmaster bikes as well then decided on the Templar. I got a little TM15 for a B day present for my son and he loves it, seems pretty good quality as well 👍 there’s a lot of good bikes available from these companies. I should have my Review of the Templar out soon, it may give you an idea of what to expect from the TM 31

Well I got a bit of news from South Carolina. I pretty much got shut down on getting the bike street legal. The first place I tried was the local DMV. I got the standard, " If it comes into the country off road use only that's what it is." I tried pressing a little but the lady started to call a supervisor so I beat a hasty but pleasant retreat. The next was a "big bike" store. This guy was even less helpful. "So basically you want us to lie," he says. Hmmm. If you don't buy a bike from us.... Then I went to the local store that sold scooters and mopeds. He said that they had been able to do things like that in the past but the growing trend with the little mini trucks (that aren't street legal in South Carolina) that the scrutiny has become pretty tight. The problem is that in order to be street legal they have to meet the federal emissions standards. Too much shady stuff lately. He did say to hunt around for a small street legal bike around the same size and just swap the tag and go. Only when you get your motorcycle drivers license will they check the VIN. If you do get stopped just say you got the tag mixed up as you have several bikes. Take the ticket to court along with the bike title it belongs to and the ticket should get tossed. Cops don't like the little bikes much but seldom want to bend down and scrutinize the numbers. The distaste for little bikes stems from the use of mopeds by the local alcoholics who have lost their licenses. We call them "likker-sikkles (liquor cycles)". They are only allowed to go 25 to 30 mph but are always being modified to go faster. Still they are too slow for most streets and cause a lot of anxiety with the rest of the motoring public much less the cops that really have better things to do than haul in drunks on mopeds. All is not lost though. There should be areas out of my very city centric area that may be willing to help out a bit more. You could always have an "acquaintance" buy the bike in a state like yours and then sell it to you with a solid title. So that's where I got with the certification of the title. Folks are a bit stiff collared around this very populated area of South Carolina. Cheers Terry

You may get a different response than I did. I live in the Greer area so that was where my effort was made. Maybe you have some friends that can give some advice as to whom to talk to. I knew the dealer was a bust, why would they cretify a bike ghey didnt sell? Maybe if you bought a bike from them like they wanted you wouldnt have to do all this. I didnt expect much. The guy that sold the mopeds and scooters was real nervous so if you know someone give it a try. I hope you get a cool ride. @Gravel_Ridge_4wd

Great stuff as usual. My take on that bike is that like most things made in China, it'll be Ok out of the box or ahort term, but eat YEARS of thrashing like an old Honda? I don't believe it'll do it.

I bought a Orion 150 dual sport. The big weak spot was the wheels. The spokes ripped out of the rim. I definitely did slack on making sure they were tight. Especially right out of the box. After a few rides I found out they were really loose.

That’s a bummer man. I ordered a spoke wrench kit and went over mine after the first few rides, I’m definitely going to be checking them again soon. Thanks for the heads up.

@Mikefestiva

Thanks for checking out my videos! Well as much as I enjoy the Coleman it’s a mini bike and beats you up to ride faster and really can’t compare to this. This bike rips pretty well on the trails. Not a power house but plenty of grunt to have a good day on the trails. 😊👍
