Have used the cheap one for 4 years no problem. The connected ride is great now that it is affordable. Being able to use the wonder wheel is the game changer. .

I have a 2022 BMW f750gs also and have the Phone mount from amazon for over two years and the case from Dollar Tree. Works great and I can use the magic wheel.. It has wireless charging and does everything I want it to do. It cost $34 and its worth every penny.

Currently got a Nav 6, and so far, after 7 years, no issues at all. However, it did play up the other day and so looking at the Connected Cradle. This is a great simple concise video that answers the question - should I get one? Once my Nav 6 dies, I'll be going this route - many thanks for a great video!

I have the $60 Amazon cradle and my phone fits perfectly. iPhone 15 Pro Max with the clear Apple Case and my bike is a R1300GS.

Yep ! Great interface module. I have one on my R1200gsa, I go off-road and the phone stays put even in gnarly trails. The features are very basic but honestly, you don'tneed more. For now the app is free and there's no subscription. Knowing BMW Motorrad, this might change.

Interesting video, but I think slightly misleading. I have a UK £28 cradle from Amazon that hold the phone more securely than the non-BMW cradles you showed. My phone is going nowhere and so it is possible to buy the phone cradle as 1/10th of the price of the BMW one. The key to the BMW cradle is of course being able to use the control wheel in conjunction with the BMW phone App. As navigation goes, Google maps beats BMW app mapping anytime but the value is in the functionality provided by the control wheel. This is what would make me upgrade. If the BMW cradle only offers Zoom in/out and the ability to look at Bike/Engine data in the app then I don't see the benefit etc. I don't have a TFT screen but I suspect you can see a lot of the data anyway on that. Would be good to see a video showing the benefits of the control wheel functionality...

I have the case you say not to get. 3000 miles later, works GREAT. I have a One+ 9 Pro 6.7" phone with a THIN case. Charges the phone fully with BT and WIFI running. Also hold the phone tight as hell. Paid $30 delivered from EBAY. Have had it to 110MPH on my 1250 GS several times.

@@TheManToys The secret, I found, is knowing the “depth” of the recess behind the red hook. I shopped for a phone that was specifically thin enough to have the hook fully wrap around. I then went on Amazon and searched for the thinnest possible case/phone wrap that advertised working with wireless charging. Thick phones and/or cases is the problem. Bonus, the One+9Pro is fully viewable in direct sunlight and is actually snappier than an IPhone 12 that my work provides me. It’s my dedicated bike computer.

Hi. Nice vidéo. One Quick question : What about vibrations? Doesn’t it damage the cams, specificly Iphones with image stabilisation. Heard it’s bad. And XR vibrates definitely a lot. I dammaged even m’y gopro due to the vibrations 😮

Good video. Great info, exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for taking the time to put this info out there. Could you possibly do a follow up video with a brief re-explation of first why you had to use your watch for turn by turn but how you set that up and connected it. I don't use Apple products,....yet, but I like the fact that you had a back up. Redundancy is a good thing.

i bought the same one , My phone fell off too but good thing I was charging with the cable and it was still attached and I pull off to the road to save it. I have the s1000xr 2020. I end up buying the new SAT NAV from bmw. I don't have to worry about having my phone hanging off.

I just bought a S1000XR and after watching this video I forked over the money for the BMW cradle. As you said about the amazon knock offs the BMW cradle DOES NOT WORK. I have a regular size Pixle 7, not the big 7 pro. You can't use a case with the cheapy BMW cradle, I also tried it on my friends IPHONE 14 and it did not fit without a case. On top of that, the entire BMW system FORCES you to give them access to your location at ALL times. As long as the app is on your phone, BMW is tracking you EVERYWHERE you go. Secondly you are REQUIRED to give it access to your media and your phone. Which then requires you to pair any speakers or headphones to the bike as well. I don't run the stupid helmet communicators as you I like the sound of music not the sound of wind with a faint hint of music. BUYER BEWARE. 300 bucks for the cradle is insane and it is built very cheap. There is no option for a shade on top to block the sun and your phone will overheat on warm days in full sun.

great video, thanks. i'm glad I saw this before looking/purchasing the Navigation system. With my Iphone14 already, I'd rather purchase this and use it rather than have the phone in my jacket and a navig. This cradle will allow me to use the phone to navigate. Why would the craddle have electronic connectors, just to charge the phone wirelessly, is that right? thanks

One last point. None of these cradle locks have any kind of suspension on them. I'm not sure about the F 750GS, but I know the in-line 4s (XR,RR) will vibrate and break the camera sensors.

iPhone 15 Pro. The Connected ride cradle would not fit. The only functions that you can function with the wonder wheel are the Connected app maps. Not my cuppa tea. I prefer Apple Maps or Google maps plus my phone kept falling out of that connected cradle. I was lucky enough to find a dealer that was willing to return it total piece of crap I've been through all of the cheap ones on Amazon and the one that you have on there with the red holder actually works the besthold the phone securely doesn't press any buttons. All the other ones press the button buttons

Too bad I didn’t see your video before. I also bought the same cradle from Amazon and the result was that my IPhone 14 is gone….. it was an expensive mistake. The lock was on and the phone still moved and was gone.
