I love this documentary. I’m an old nurse & always wanted to deliver babies. But I moved too much & didn’t get the chance. But I’ve read many stories of midwives all over the world. And the program “Call the midwife” about the women right after WW2 in a poor section of England. It’s so sweet but very real.

Incredible, strong women! The midwives are so hardworking and nurturing. Would have liked more practical info regarding how they make do; how they prevent infection, do the woman tear? If so are they sutured? It’s a shame they don’t have some basics which could make things easier for the midwife. A rolling pull cart with her supplies. There has to be a charity that could supply the items.

@dinarusso3320 actually birth works more often than not. When male docs took over mortality rates went up for the simple fact they were not washing their hand between working with corpses and birthing women. It is a convenient lie the medical industry and its propaganda machine has done a great job spreading for a little over 100 years now. Believe it or not, millenia of evolution does these things better than men.

Some of you in these comments have such colonized mindsets. These women are built completely different, they haven't been infested with poisonous food, air and birth control and have an ancestral connection to their land and all of it conditions. Nothing is wrong with way they're living, meanwhile in America the birth mortality rate is as high as it's ever been due to not preparing the body for pregnancy and disregard during childbirth.🗿
@pinwheelart28258 ай бұрын
Women everywhere can birth their babies. Even most American women believe it or not. Many die from not having women to women care, being ignored by doctors and other hospital staff when something has gone wrong, usually something the medical industry/doctor has caused. People are very misinformed about what birth is and how to support it. The facts are that community midwifery care with continuity of care to the hospital, in the rare occasion needed, is the best care. 💖✊🏽♀️

@MA-mh1vs2 жыл бұрын
No she is speaking the truth, girls are very young when married and so are pregnant when very young. You can expect that many are only 13 or 14 when they have their first child. There is no birth control so they will be pregnant just months after giving birth, so the children are born one after the other.

Although I admire the midwife's skills, there are a lot of things that could go wrong in childbirth. postpartum hemorrhage is one of the most common causes of maternal mortality worldwide, especially in areas lacking hospital care.
@ninaorozco28692 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is why I go to the hospital to deliver. I love this natural life but if i hadn't been at a hospital my first born might have died due to needing oxygen right away. My husband is from rural Mexico and their lives were very similar to these people. His mother did die after childbirth due to hemorrhaging. She had 12 in all. Had there been access to a hospital she may have made it through.
