It's not only her receving sentence, there are other matters in play (that needs a fix), the root cause needs to be addressed: 1. Police training + getting rid of bad apples... Too much fear = Shoot firs, ask later. (ofc depends on area, the wealthy don't need to fear as much as the poor). 2. Gun control (for me living in EU, it's insane that guns can be purchased without license, and can be sold to ANYONE, mentally ill, etc.). Sure, some states migh be better than others, but how can AR be allowed? Nuts... - And this also worries the police officers (fear and itchy finger) + the police training = No one wants police to arrive at their door (even when needing assistance). People can abuse this by having police acts as ones torpedo: Call the cops and send them to X for execution. (which has happened) 3. No more "our prays goes too...". Praying haven't helped with gun control, fixing the corruption in US (especially politicans), the prison system, police training... How many more prays until a change will come? If there is a God, he gave us our most powerful tool - our brain for reasoniing - and left us to solve our own problems. ---- Imagine Norway: The police patrol the streets without gun, and IF they have a pistol: the weapon is in their car (in the safebox). Norway have the correct police training and you need a valid reason and license for gun/rifle (+ they rehabilitate their prisoners in a humane way and make sure they have the tools to re-enter society - skills/education). Imagine a country where you can go day by day without a worry/fear, no matter your skin colour/where you come from... US can acheive this (as we have in Scandinavia), only if they want to and get rid of the corruption (+ get uncorrupted progressive politicans whom work for the people)....

@@djrdjr8888 Honest person ??? Have you even watched her testimony when questioned by the prosecutor ? If so you're not very observant. 1. She was lying about the hours maintenance was scheduled to do work on the apartments (she testified it was 8am - 4pm when no specific time window was given in the memo). 2. She told the jury she deleted the texts (evidence) that night because she felt ashamed about her sexual relationship with a married man. She claimed to have ended it but she was still sexting him and talking about having drinks 2 DAYS after she killed Botham Jean. She tries to shed tears a year later in front of a jury. Tears that appears to be rehearsed by her and her defense team because those tears only emerge when questioned by her own lawyer. 3. Lying about giving Botham Jean medical aid (there was absolutely no blood on her hands or uniform when the victim was bleeding to death) and the contents in her medical bag remained intact. The time stamps on her texts indicate she sent texts to her lover ( who again happens to be a married man with children ) as Botham lay dying. 4. Later she tried to give an excuse as to why she didn't give Botham medical aid by saying that she didn't know where she was ( prosecutor pointed out that she did know where she was because she gave the 911 operator Botham's correct apartment #). She's also on video pacing back and forth outside his apartment - again while he lay dying. 5. Her original testimony was that she was in fear for her life but she later admitted that after she realized the door was ajar and heard someone inside - she made the conscious decision to enter the apartment and eliminate the perceived threat rather than utilize her training of time , distance and cover . Training designed solely for her safety and the safety of those around her. Nor did she call for backup that were under 5 minutes away. Furthermore no where in the 911 call did she mention she thought Botham was trying to attack her or that she thought he had a weapon . It was simply " I thought someone was in my apartment ". 6. Her original statement was that she was extremely tired after a long shift (I guess that was supposed to denote some sort of disorientation regarding her state of mind) however the texts that they managed to recover show that she had plans to fornicate and/or visit the gym later that night. 7. She was approximately 30 feet from Botham in the open doorway and claimed to have issued commands in a loud and clear manner however none of the neighbors said they heard any of those commands. How is it that the neighbors across from him could hear Botham singing gospel music INSIDE his apartment ( which is true because Botham had received multiple noise complaints against him ) but they couldn't hear an officer shouting commands near his open door leading to the outside hall ? The only thing she was honest about was when she admitted that she had ignored her training and entered his apartment with the sole intention to eliminate by executing the double tap method in his center mass ( the only part of her training she managed to follow ) . I'm glad you're not on the Jury - you seem to be very obtuse .

You all have to take into account that she was pretty much a swat team member. That is a high pressure and requires very quick action. Even more than your traditional officer. If she was tired, distracted and on autopilot in a dark area she could have easily mistaken the apartment. She is a human just as we all are. Now the horrible decisions she made after she got to the apartment are reprehensible and horribly tragic. She should have known better and done much better faced with what she thought was the situation.

"That's Why You Lock Your Doors, No Matter What"!!! If he would have taken that action this accident would not have happened. His door was open at the time she thought she was entering her own apartment. The door left open is what triggered the whole event. "Very Sad" However, it's obvious that police are trained to kill. That does not mean they have power over anyone. They should make that very clear in their training! They need to understand all precautions should be considered before using deadly force. Very important to realize the training is for when they are on duty, not off duty!
