She needs to have other activities that can give her pleasure and accomplishment and self care before she can really let the food stop being that for her.

I was watching another video about ALR earlier today, and they showed the saddest clips, in terms of her diet mentality. She said that based on one estimate, she could eat like 2700 calories per day and lose weight. She said that seemed like too much. So she used another calculator, and it said she could eat 3000 calories per day and still lose weight. She still wasn't convinced, and arbitrarily set a goal of 2200. Of course, this level of deficit is really difficult to manage, and on day one she "failed" by going over that goal by 800 calories. She got discouraged and gave up entirely. Except, she was succeeding and she gave up before she saw the results! She was probably at that 3000 mark, which was one of the suggestions that she insisted was too much. So, instead of succeeding at 3000, she considered herself a failure and went back to a 4000+ calorie per day diet. She simply cannot get out of her own way.

In my opinion that's what a LOT of people who aren't educated on the reality of sustainable fat loss do, just on a smaller scale. I know a lot of people only hear about Amber here, so if you're curious, one of her ex's was interviewed by a KZbinr, Mr Snowflake, about the abuse/DV/general awfulness she put him through. Even as someone who's pretty deep in the amberverse, that interview was very eye opening. Edit: I forgot to say that Amber did "adress" this, in a very lackluster way, saying she won't say what he lied about (probably because he didn't and she doesn't have any counter evidence). Destiny and Becky have also shown that Amber's abusive, so it really seems to be a pattern, even if you don't believe Casey that Amber also admitted to him that she went on to also hit Crystal. Hey John - I've been a huge fan since circa 2014-15. One thing that I would disagree with you on here is the practice of daily weigh ins. I was able, thanks in part to inspiration from your story, to drop about 60 lbs in 2019. One of the practices I took on was a daily weigh in schedule and I found it allowed me to be more mindful during the day. I made better choices during the day because I would have to answer to myself the next day. I really only looked at the trend week to week to measure true progress, but found that if I had to explain myself to myself (i.e. I at a ton of salt at dinner, I had a few drinks last night, etc.) it allowed me to hold myself accountable. I'm not saying it's for everyone. This worked for me because of my personal disposition and outlook. I just wouldn't wholeheartedly advocate against the practice. This many years later, I think I have my log stored in my closet. Keep up the great work bro! Edit: I hit pause to write this at 8:55. haha I agree putting it online is not the best thing to do. We're more on the same page than I originally thought.

It can definitely help some people to stay motivated to weigh yourself every day. As for myself, I never weigh myself. I have no idea what I weigh, but I'm currently the smallest I've ever been as an adult, and judging by my height and past weights, I can make an accurate guess. I'm not necessarily concerned about the number more than I am about being healthy and looking slim. The actual number is probably more important for heavier people who are trying to lose weight and see results.

Being more active is an issue that needs work. It's not eating 1200 calories and eating just meat and cheese. She needs someone who can teach her about HEALTHY food and the correct portion and the correct calories for her. Not a bad idea to look at what happens when you do THC and its effect on the hunger hormones, leptin and ghrelin? The binge restrict cycle already wreaks havoc. Mechanical eating helps regulate our hunger hormones. The solution is actually eating those delicious snacks that you were avoiding throughout the day by making it a moral issue instead of honoring your cravings ( in small portions with carbs, fat protein and fiber) is the key to success. Your restriction might work for a while, but biology will win in the end. Restriction and binge cycle won't end unless you find balance by enjoying the food you're eating. Fullness and satisfaction are important. Guilt is not an ingredient.

Weight loss is really difficult for me. Struggled with it for my entire life (I am almost 50 now). However, since I stopped consuming milk and other dairy products (replaced these with alternatives), it goes better. My cholesterin has improved, and my jeans got looser and looser at the waist. I also stopped using scales. I was basically addicted to my daily weigh-in, sometimes even twice a day. Now I measure it from the ease of being able to squat down, and said jeans (which I do not wear daily). I exercise on a daily basis, which also helps. Nothing crazy, but steadily. Mentally I have gotten better since I stopped obsessing over the scales. Now people told me this, but it was some kind of lifeline for me.

I agree that she needs to find ner cooking niche... me personally I like to prep on the weekend to have something to eat for most of the time or if I need something FAST. I have been doing AIP elination diet (almost done the 90 days to start adding foods back in ... so excited!!!) and trying to monitor how I feel and I can start to feel weird when my blood sugar goes low for me and suddenly goes up without me eating or drinking ANYTHING... so I need to eat something before that or as soon as I start feeling bad or if I catch my blood at that number. So usually I have a roast with veg, egg roll in a bowl, soup that has bone broth base, fridge pickles, and I get unseasoned sausage that I add herbs to and cook off in portioned patties, and then roast cubed sweet potatoes... then I have bananas, clementine oranges, grapes, apples and frozen fruit and veggies, and squashes and pumpkins to mix in for more variety. So I have avalibility to have something I can shove in my mouth immediately like a few grapes when I know I need to eat asap then have a few minutes to heat something up or make a full different dinner because my blood sugar is good and I have time and feel the need for something different. I mean even if thats just that viral tiktok spegetti that my kid makes thats spegetti, butter, garlic salt, and parmesian cheese. Except I make it AIP so I make spegetti squash put olive oil, garlic salt, onion powder parsley and a little of the poultry mix I made and I also add some roasted chicken that I pulled from the bones and have in the fridge. I thibk its important to know the taste that you are going for and being able to modify it to be healthier or fit what you are trying to do because your able to satisfy that interal monster without going hog wild on something else. When my kiddo was making cookies and had cookies during the holidays I was eating a lot more so I didn't allow myself to get nibbly and be like well that cookies right here ( now normally I would be like 1 cookie wouldn't hurt but AIP is an elimination diet thats supposed to help if you have an auto immune disease to help heal your gut and find out what your trigger foods are... so a cookie would put me back at square 1 possibly.)

The doordash Paradox is kind of weird. Because you still end up waiting 40 minutes to an hour for your food depending on where you live. And that time you could have just cooked your meal. A meal that you could be sure has everything that you need in it to progress in your Fitness goals. Instead she is just staring at the doordash tracker for over half an hour watching the delivery driver make it to her house. I'm not saying what time money or effort she's saving and this being her regular routine when it comes to getting her daily meals. Maybe that she is not the greatest at creating a shopping list where she can create whole meals. I am not sure what it is but her excuses do not make that much sense. Plus you end up spending a third more than what you would have spent just in delivery fees at a tip. So I do not think that this routine is at all beneficial for her in any facet that she's trying to convince us that it is. She needs to cook more homemade meals and walk the dog a couple more times a day and she will be off to a great start. The problem with people trying to tackle weight loss is that they think that they have to go 100% right at the beginning. Instead of incrementally working their way up after they begin a more helpful routine. And said I was taking smaller steps that would seem less intimidating and less likely for you to make excuses not to keep up with. And then once you feel comfortable and more energized and your new routine you can add more challenging aspects to it like a more intense workout routine or just a few more intensive moves and you're already existing workout routine.
