I just wanted to share a few situations with dating that made it really difficult for me lol
It’s really hard to understand the dynamic when people are playing games with you, talking about others or giving you the run around. Overall...I gotta say...Communication is KEY!!

Dating has gotten the rep of being more about “winning” or trying not to get played, instead of genuine connection. The best piece of dating advice I have is to focus on finding the connection. If its not there, don’t force yourself to entertain someone just to be nice. I think this idea of being nice can really put people in unfulfilling dating situations that can be avoided.

I had a date with that masculine women that went litteraly crazy because I paid for my bill. And she was like OK I don't like that I'm a Daddy and I take care of my girl so I had to tell her first I don't need her to pay for the food I ate and that I wasn't her girl yet so. She was used to really pay for everything. I had a date with another girl with a really bad hygiene so she didn' t made it to the kiss part. I I invited her at my place so she was ready to eat and I had to make her understand that noooo that ain't gonna happen she was really mad

Me and my homegirl who got feelings for me not being in the room is fucking up the chemistry. Like she can't see her boyfriend who she thinking of leaving cause he a antimasker but can't see me either cause I live with my grandmother. Not even gonna lie I'm a broke bitch (art major) but I still get my stacks up enough to do things for the women in my life. So I think even though he's better at adulting I came out looking more mature and compassionate. She's still figuring out her sitch and I refuse to pressure her cause realizing you into girls is enough of a paradigm shift. But at this point I kinda feels like we gone get together before one of us die or naw 😅. Like Covid is making me look good and texts you gotta take a cold shower after sending but I can't even capitalize on it. Like we soul mates as friends or lovers but if things get as bad as I think they'll get we may never get the chance to find out. Then with isolation thirst I wanna talk to other people but ion like lying. It'd be 'hey I'm totes into someone else but can I rub on ya'. Then the other layer is that hookup would be my ex who I'm still very good friends with. We only broke up cause we was young and jealous, afraid to admit how intense things had gotten. Fast forward we done got therapy and shit, still close but we thinking we finally can move on as friends. Then this week she hits me up saying she left her man for the SAME THINGS as the friend I got all the chemistry with. She's already told me I'm the guy (gender fluid/ lesbian) she compares most men to a few years back so this is kinda like woah for me. I'm terrified if I accept the incredible comfort she offers it will be a Covid fueled manipulation. Like now doesn't seem like the time to be making big isolation tainted decisions like sparking things back up with an ex no matter how close we are. Like she was ENGAGED to this man and I'm the guy she compares guys to. She asking to hang when the desire to be gassed up is at an all time high. Like I'm a depressed so do I just accept this reason to live or just tread carefully knowing the history. Some real 'To be or not to be' drama in my head RN

I'm honestly tired of dating. Ppl just want to casually date and hook up and I get so many ppl trying to either hook up with me, without even knowing me. I'm just not into stranger intimate relations lbvs or I get ppl constantly trying to just text and never finalize plans and then say I'm too busy. Like yea the day off last minute , I am busy 🙄 . my pov with dating during covid depend on your living situation some times its not worth it or its hard af. I moved back home after college so im living with a high risk person (my mom) and i started to date this girl and she wanted to go places and do things and I just couldn't.(I didn't want to risk it) and that put some stress on the relationship. So I gave in after a while and invited her into my home (her place was off limits) and like she would come over and ish a few times a week. Then I got a call from her on day and she was like"im going to get tasted for covid cause i dont feel good"....shes been in my house around my fam with out a mask. the 5 day to wait for a test result was so stressful cause only the worse thoughts ran through my head. basically cried my self to sleep those days. All in all Find out if someone is taking Covid procedures as seriously as you are.

Ugh. I am so sorry that happened to you. I help my mom out a lot, she is 73 year old house cleaner with arthritis. I started feeling bad and and immediately isolated myself from everyone while I waited for my test ( negative result thankfully) but I felt like I was having a panic attack the entire time I was waiting for those results. Navigating any relationship is very hard right now, I have had to have some pretty blunt conversations with friends, family, and co-workers about my boundaries and it can be very frustrating to just make people see that this whole situation is no joke.

CW: physical abuse (& a lot of text) I broke up with my ex gf at the beginning of covid (unrelated to it though). I started dating someone else a couple of months later during covid but more towards summer. she was very sweet at first, very considerate and funny. I really liked her. but she started acting quite....performative? Idk how else to describe it. it felt like she was playing "relationship" like little kids play "family" sometimes. and she didn't fully respect my boundaries, but I only realized that later. she'd be very subtle but basically try to push me further up the relationship escalator. after 3-4 weeks of seeing each other she already asked "what's the point if we're not exclusive now?". back then I was happy to have someone who is ready to commit, because that was what I was missing from my ex gf. in hindsight, I know better. she's not very experienced in relationship matters. that's not a problem per se, but can become quite exhausting when you have no idea who that person actually is because you feel like they're playing a role all the time. am I making sense? she never was pushy in that masculine "every space belongs to me and everyone has to follow my rules" kinda way, but more in the helpless little child kind of way. it makes me cringe so hard when I look back at all the red flags. but I was happy to have met someone who's not suuuuuper non-committing and aloof all the time. oh well. long story short: I broke up with her after we had a fight and she would not let me leave her apartment . she held me in place repeatedly, despite me asking her to let me go and leave. she tried to take away my stuff to stop me from leaving. she would block my way towards the door and finally she would block the door. with her own body. I never felt that helpless in 30 years, ever since I was physically abused as a child. I knew she wouldn't let me go no matter what I said. then I snapped. I hammered on her shoulders with my fists and screamed at her to let me leave. doing so, I must have brushed her glasses because they went flying at some point. when she went to pick them off, I went for the door and left. she didn't follow me. I broke up with her via text on my way home, shaking. it took her a few weeks to accept it. and it took me a few weeks to forgive myself that I raised my hands. the excuse "oh but she pushed you so far" didn't sit well with me because that's exactly what my abuser told me when I was a child. I know it's not the same, but it was hard to get over that. to top it all off: she told her best friend that we had a fight, I wanted to leave, she hugged me and I beat her. and then had the audacity to tell me that and to send me her friends to pick up her stuff after she told me it's okay if it takes me a minute to send it to her (because I was struggling with my mental health because of all of this). I'm still full of anger towards her (and full of old anger that was triggered by all of this), especially because she knew about my past. and I know she also has her reasons for why she acted the way she did. but that's not my fault either. so... yeah. although I still feel incredibly lonely and really wished to have someone to share things in life with, I really don't feel like dating at the moment. but I want to be ready for it. :)

To answer your question on dating during Covid. I recently got in contact with the ONE THAT GOT AWAY. we hadn't spoken or seen each other in 10 years but we were both still very much hung up on each other. We live about 2 hours away from each other by car, and because of Covid we are only gonna be seeing each other next week after 10 years. It's been rough but honestly, Covid gave us an opportunity to learn more about each other and see if we were still as compatible, I think I would have moved to rush things between us too quickly because my feelings for her are still very much intense. I think dating during Covid helped us, but I do know that not everyone feels the same

I try dating, but I never connect with them. Because they always ruin it and tell me that they are beginning to fall in love with me. I try to put myself out there, but it never works out. Only thing you can really do for dating during Covid is find ways to communicate online or over the phone. As you would be presumably talking to someone outside your normal exposure. It sucks. But until that vaccine comes out... gotta find other ways to show your interest is there. I wouldn't mind seeing what other people are doing though.
