I think your only misstep was entertaining the thought of dating so soon after a break up. BUT you realized it very early on and communicated that to her. I always say there are 3 sides to every story. Yours, hers and the truth. We all see things a little differently, two people can experience the same thing but come out hearing\ecperencing it differently. With that said even if she didn't "get it" the first time you tried to pump the breaks, there were multiple clues that you clearly dropped that she refused to pick up.

whew, that was alotta info and frenetic energy flying about. since you asked for feedback; i'll take this opportunity to give it. it may sound victim blaming or that I am taking her side, at first, because you have some very real emotions and reactions. But I hope that once you can care for those and can turn to considering what you might do differently in the future, you'll be able to see what I am saying here. so I had a bunch of different reactions along the way, but at the moment the one that is at the forefront is the one that reacted to the multiple times that you said, "alright, cool, ok, so then I just ..." dealt with it in some way that gave the outward impression that you were going to tolerate things for the moment, assuming that she'd go her own way...she didn't, at every step of the way, she didn't. You cannot control that part, but you can control your own reactions. Since your own internal reaction was that you were emphatically NOT ok with this, and thought that you dealt with it by calling her a few days before the first initial event in NY, then perhaps the more appropriate external reaction would have been to give voice to your own internal reaction instead of allowing that conflict between your external "ok cool" verbal reaction and your internal "oh hell no, it's not cool" to flourish and cause you all sorts of problems. You cannot control her actions, but you can control yours~~so perhaps being a lil more proactive and outspoken in key times/places ~~ such as at the airport, esp regarding your ride's staff agreeing to deliver her to her destination: you voiced that she was not your guest, she was not riding with you; so when you came back from the bathroom, YOU had the perfect opportunity to make yourself clear again to the staff of the ride service. When you allow someone to push your boundaries, they will push until they no longer can. If that is a hard boundary that you have, then maintain it and take the steps to do so. If it is not, then it isn't a boundary and YOU are sending the message that it's ok for them to take advantage of you in the way that they seem to be used to doing when they don't get what they want. Esp when you adopt the "ok, cool" tolerance of responding to her facetime at the airport, then meeting her at the gate, then walking thru the airport, then at the car, then allowing her to use the car, then allowing the staff of the service to drive her to her location, etc and that's all at the airport. If it was that upsetting to you, it's not "ok, cool"; it's worth being clear and being assertive in maintaining YOUR boundary. Thanks for allowing me to voice my opinion of how you might have handled things differently. Thing is, the more you practice being assertive in situations that may be just outside of your comfort zone, the better at handling them you will be and the less you will actually encounter the situations because you get to nip things in the bud~~which you had attempted to do, I know; and that would have been great, you did exactly what you should have done by calling her and speaking about your change of mind before the trip/event~~had she been a mature accountable responsible person in that way, that would have been awesome. She was not, as evidenced by blowing up your phone before you even got on the plane to go to NY, and then continued on and on and on. This was also on the folks who allowed her to fly, using a canceled ticket; but again, that is outside of YOUR realm of control. Perhaps now tho, you can voice your displeasure with them {whatever agency is responsible for the breakdown there}. That's just a suggestion. {can I just say, it's women like her that give women the bad rep as being manipulative? oh lortah, Amber, this situation totally sucks; sorry you have to deal with it, one way or another.}

You were WAY too polite to this woman. There is no way in hell that I would have gotten into the same Uber as her. I would have let her have the Uber and gotten myself a taxi or something. Also, there would not have been any further conversations where we tried to reach an understanding. If she showed up at the airport like that- you know she’s crazy. In that type of situation, Amber, it think it's best to just play it cool. Give her some attention but not too much and don't give the wrong impression.
