My grandpa had a yellow / black stripe Gremlin. We were leaving school in about '76, or '77 and my buddy wasn't watching, and hit a road grader in his folks purple Gremlin, we bounced off the tire.

I had a ‘73 X with the 5 liter V-8 . It was a fun car , had to keep at least a half tank in it or the rear end would come loose on acceleration at times . Mine had the 737 trans mounted in a consul on the floor . Great bucket seats and probably every option you could get . I bought it used from the local AMC dealer , it was a trade in , a banker bought it for his wife an she did not like it , low miles on it , I kept it for a year and a half , traded it in for a larger car , family got bigger . I would own another .

My first car was a brand new 1975 Gremlin. It was a Custom level trim, 232 six, 3 speed w/OD. I loved that car. Don’t let anyone tell you Gremlins are somehow inferior. It was a better car than any other subcompact then on the market if you value power (it was by far the fastest and torquiest), reliability, durability, comfort and value. It was low priced with proven tech that worked wonderfully so repairs were few and cheap with commonly available parts with the best warranty in the business. Mine had the standard engine and would smoke any other subcompact. It was comfortable with decent ride and excellent seats (the rear seat had terribly cramped legroom lol) and got great gas milage. It was stylish and unique. Mine had manual steering and brakes which were effortless to use. I still would want one with manual steering, it made the car delightful to drive. I loved that car and wish I still had it.

They mentioned that everybody of a certain age has a connection with a Gremlin. I specifically watched this because of the thumbnail. When my parents first started dating in the late '80s, my father's daily-driver was a red Gremlin. Unfortunately it was already long-gone by the time my sister and I were born in the mid-'90s.

I had a brand new 72 Gremlin X with the 304 and 3 speed manual, same color and interior color as this 73. Put headers on it with a big 650 holley carb on it. Took it down to Union Grove drag strip and try as I could I couldn't break into the 14's, almost though, best of 15.03 at about 90 mph if I remember correctly. Still plenty fast for a Gremlin. Had a lot of guys wouldn't race me because if I won they wouldn't be able to live it down being beat by a Gremlin.

In 1977 I purchased a 1973 gremlin withA/C & the large straight 6 engine.. seem to have plenty of power! it was yellow with a black racing stripe that went down the side and then up around the back window.. it came with factory tinted glass which was actually pretty dark.. I love my gremlin and felt it was a cool car. Came with the air deflector on the back roof..... My friend purchased a 77 gremlinX with a V8 ..HE Bilt and bored the engine.. it had side pipes and traction bars in the back with big wide back tires... That car was fast! ..

Wow, just happened upon your clips on KZbin today and can’t seem to stop watching them. Then lightening struck, when I saw Mark Eaton’s ‘57 Corvette with C6 running gear! That is what I want as my next car build. Do you know who made this car for Mark, or can you suggest whom to contact, preferably on the east coast, as I would need to “ commute” from Germany? Looking for the best quality and workmanship.

The Roadster Shop makes a frame for this swap, an acquaintance is building a '59 with a LT-4. Llngenfelter Performance could probably build one, as they build a similar version of the C2 Grand Sport, in the Detroit area. I believe Roadster Shop builds complete cars, also, I think they're in Oregon (west coast). Both are top quality builders.

That vette is a good example of the "more money than brains club". Why use an original body? The guy with the MG, outstanding job! Same with the Gremlin and the Buick. No, I don't like modifying rare vehicles. That Vette is beautiful, as is my neighbors restomod '63, but there are reproduction bodies for that purpose.
