Always good to watch and learn correct set up. Hoping to so wrap up many loose ends and get onto my Dana 27 rear axle. Will have to revisit this and your other videos when that time comes. Again, best to you and Maria in 2023, Bear.

good morning Scott. The model 20 is coming out great and doing my best to make it super sturdy for a lifetime of use.

What shim eliminator kit did you use? I’m not seeing one for the AMC 20. Is that a Yukon ford 9” crush eliminator?

Thank you for another great video Brian! Like you said, you've put quite some good information out there for the Dana 25 and Dana 44 and thanks to you, I've rebuild several with success! They do take some patience, but it is sure rewarding in the end. Looking forward to more videos of the AMC 20 and the Dana 30!

Hi Brian I'm rebuilding a 1984 cj7 and I'm rebuilding the AMC 20 I'm keeping the original gears 2.73 since it will be on the street only. I'm replacing all of the bearings and I'm going to add a crush sleeve eliminator . What should I do first , figure the shim size for the pinion depth or the amount of shims for the rotational torque? Thank you and your videos are extremely helpful !!!

If you are keeping your original gears then start with the factory pinion depth shim. Next get your rotational torque figured out with your crush sleeve eliminator kit. Once you have all of that figured out you can get your carrier shimmed properly and check backlash.

@@metalshaperJeep Thank you!! Your videos are excellent. I'm doing a frame off restoration and your videos are such a tremendous help.

Hi Brian it seems the rotational torque is too tight even with no shims in the eliminator when the pinon nut is torqued to 175. I used a pinion depth shim size that was very close to the original but even with no shims in the crush sleeve eliminator when I torque the pinion nut to 175 I can't even turn the yoke. Should I torque the pinion nut to a value less than 175 ? Thank you.

Never mind I finally figured out that I need to add shims. :)

Brian during final assembly do I have to tighten the pinion nut more than 175 foot pounds to set the pinion bearing (smaller bearing) ? Or do I just torque the pinion nut to 175 and that is enough to set the bearing. on the pinion shaft? . Thank you.
