TheDutchSheep ryzen isn't as good as the athlon was. When it came out, k7 was truly special. It won in many cases. There was no real reason to buy a p3. Ryzen is great ( i own a 1700), but it's still AMD playing catch-up. There are still many cases where an intel chip wins. It's more like amd's k6 tbh

From 2019. There is, once again, no reason to buy Intel, as AMD performs better in nearly all applications, including some, but not all games. And every year, Ryzen's getting better. AMD FTW!

@@hydrochloricacid2146 Not really, with 2000 series AMD catched up, with the 3000 series, specially the 12C/24T bets price/performance or 16C/32T best performance, it's awesome according to all reviews, and with ThreadRipper it's just Bliss, you should, as many had, to buy the 1800X it has many advantages that the 1700/-X can't overclock, same for the Radeon RX Vega 64 compared to Vega 56 one. The 4000 will be out in a few months and will be even greater, they're talking 1C/4T and bigger Caches

@@smulestar Given this was written thirteen years ago, what do you think? I do at least still own one, but it rarely comes out. It's sad looking back now at the time when this commercial appeared, nearly a quarter century ago, and AMD were on their way to the top. How they've fallen in the past decade and a half, just misstep after misstep and they're probably never coming back. Almost seems like the K7 came about by sheer dumb luck, but I'm glad I got to see that era while it lasted.

So many dumb comments on this video. Here's a hint: if your AMD processor "blew up," then the problem was user error, not the processor. That goes for ANY of the processors that they've ever made. AMD has always been a good performance bargain for the price.
@addictedtogaming15 жыл бұрын
AMD Athlon was the AMD competition for the Intel Pentium III. After PIII, there was P4, P4HT, PD, C2D, QC... so you're complaining about hardware that is over 4 generations old.. All hardware has a shelf life, however most users don't know how to use their systems and end up burning out their procs early because of software related issues. Also, an OC'd proc has a much shorter lifespan. Complaining about an Athlon this day in age is like complaining that your turbo button doesn't do anything.
@saultube444 жыл бұрын
You should stick this post. But if you get your CPU to not heat up too much on OC, it'd last just as long

In 1999 Athlon is fast like a train. In 2011, AMD released its 8-core processor - FX-8150. But then Intel had the Hyper-threading Technology, FX-8150 is only as fast as an Intel 4-core processor with the same frequency and instructions per Hz. In 2014, Intel released its own and only 8-core processor, Core i7-5960X, which runs at 3500 MHz. Based on Haswell-E, it can process 32 instructions per cycle. With Hyper-threading technology, it has 16 threads, equivalent to an 16-core AMD Processor. That means, even an AMD Opteron 6272 can't beat 5960X.
@nyhetstecken46908 жыл бұрын
At least it is much cheaper than Opteron 6272.
@carzacc63948 жыл бұрын
That's not exactly like that, AMD CPU's are not simply hyperthreaded, their cores, lately, have been weaker than Intel' s but it's not like they use hyperthreading on 4 cores and they say it's an 8-core CPU. And I'm not sure that a 5960x can beat that Opteron, I don't really know those business-grade processors, but I think that AMD uses actual cores for that series of processors

I'm still using a Athlon XP 2800+ as I'm typing this xD Eight years of use now... without considering gaming (which I stopped a long time ago due to lack of "hardware-horsepower"), it's starting to show it's age... guess I'll settle for a Bulldozer. No matter what people or benchmarks say, compared to my good ol' Athlon XP even the lowest BD will be fast as shit ._.
@linxu97636 жыл бұрын
DON'T get a new computer. That is gonna be fine. Just watch out for the overheating. In 2007, a relative of mine bought an AMD Windows XP, and then it overheated MUTIPLE times. Give it ample space to release heat, not against the wall or you will face broken motherboards.
@phant0m2332 жыл бұрын
If I may make a recommendation: in terms of games needing more "hardware horsepower", the number of games that can work on your system far exceeds the number that cannot. This trend increases upward in time, where those below your hardware will continue to outnumber those beyond your hardware specs. Consider looking up games on Steam that you can run. You'll find that the number of titles on that list is growing everyday. I'm doing this at the moment with a laptop. My hardware is newer - core i7 - but I feel the point still stands.
@ManiPulatoR842 жыл бұрын
@@phant0m233 Damn, it's fun reading my own comments from 9 1/2 years ago xD I agree with you, as long as you're not focussed on playing AAA games, which was my case back then - to some extent, at least.
