Do you require PCIE 4 for the card?
@fturla___1563 жыл бұрын
@@Joshua_N-A For most games that require a GPU with less than 4 GB of vram to get the maximum performance, the PCIe version 4 slot on a computer is not needed and the improvements are not noticeable. But if you are using an AMD RX 5500 xt with only 4 GB of ram and the program can use or requires more than 4 GB of memory than a PCIe slot will provide a significant boost in performance because the transfer rate of the PCIe 4.0 slot will reduce the bottleneck of only having 4GB of vram memory. I suggest that most people simply purchase the AMD RX 5500 xt 8GB version that will cost 20 to 50 dollars more which will remove the memory bottleneck and the PCIe version 3.0 slot will be sufficient to get close to the maximum performance. And yes, even with 8 GB of memory using a PCIe slot 4.0 will provide a faster broadband connection, but the improvements will not be noticeable and/or most software will not be designed to take advantage of the additional speed provided by the latest PCIe version. To answer your question, PCIe version 4.0 is not required, but using the latest version will improve your chances of getting a much better experience especially with video cards that have less vram memory.

There are too many AMD RX 580s that are brand new selling for well under 150 US dollars, and in 2020 many crypto miners are selling their used models from 120 to 80 dollars for the 8 GB versions. No one that has the RX470, 480, 570, 580, or 590 cards should upgrade to anything below a GTX 1660 super because the performance difference in many cases is less than 30%. Only the RTX 2060 or RX 5600 represent serious performance improvements over the AMD RX 400 or 500 series line up. The AMD RX 5500xt is simply the latest performance model for the current GPU architecture that performs at the same level as the previous Polaris graphics cards by AMD. The price level change is less than a 20 dollar difference compared to the release pricing of video cards in 2016 or 2017. I'm wondering if AMD will provide significant performance improvements by the end of 2020 or the spring of 2021 for their Navi2 RDNA cards in the RX 6000 line up? I do expect them to try and compete at the high end, but are they going to sell any cards to the public in the 100 to 250 dollar price range that's significantly better than Nvidia's GTX 1650 or 1660 cards while rendering their own RX 5300 and RX 5500 cards obsolete? All indications by both Nvidia and AMD is that the low end isn't getting much love or attention.

Long time viewer and fan here! Do you think you would ever be interested in making a short video explaining some of the computer performance jargon for some of us less knowledgeable viewers? (Example: TDP, VRM, etc.) I know it sounds kind of boring, but I'd love to be able to digest your videos in a better way by just watching one of your videos haha.

What's with the ninja release? it was couple of days that there were "leaks" of after market rx5500 and now they're already shipped to reviewers? More interested in seeing an RX5800 tbh but hey, more competition is always good at whatever price point.

Actually there is 0 difference between 4gb and 8gb vram model especially if you have more than 8gb ram memory so go with 4gb but RX 580, because you can find for 130$ easily and with same clocks as rx 580 8gb model, you can expect same performanse for less money (of course you need 16gb of ram)...

Gamers Nexus showed the benchmarks on the 5500XT 8gb version being worse than the rx590 on a lot of games. I can't understand the point of this card at all. Just looks like a way to dump the parts that didn't meet the spec of the 5700 and 5700xt.
