I am running my Ryzen 5500 at 4250 MHz at maximum of 1.25 volt CPUID. It's running stable and precision boost is turned off and frequency is fixed all the time. Due to low voltage, the temperature is also on the lower side. I have MSI B450 Tomahawk max. No changes to the ram timings, etc. I just changed the cpu multiplier to 42.5. Maximum it went to 4350 MHz at around 1.375 volt, but due to temperature and overall cpu life, i dropped it down to 4250 MHz at 1.25 volt.

@@worstgamer2370 The R5 5500 has a different memory controller than all other 5000 series CPUs. You should be able to run DDR4 4200mhz easily with the right kit of ram.

The problem is that you're on a laptop. I do not want to give you incorrect information because I stay away from gaming laptops. The best I could say, is that if it allows you to overclock, I would focus on the RAM. Faster RAM will allow that R5 5500 to stretch it's legs because of the memory controller, which is different than the other non-monolithic CPU's.

Yes, under-volt using curve optimizer. However, the R5 5500 is not the best silicone in general so -10mv should be realistically what you should expect.

The 5950X does not have the same memory controller as the 5500 CPU. But you can still set 200+ on your turbo boost override and also set your curve optimizer to where the CPU is comfortable at. You'd have to try it first and find its stable setting.

tRCDRD will yield better performance set to the lowest possible if stable. But depending on your kit of ram, setting it too low will cause instability. Usually kits today are common at 18-22-22-22-68 on DDR4. But I would focus on the sub-timings for better performance.

These RAM timings don't work with my kit. I got a 16GB kit of PNY XLR8 DDR4-3200 16-18-18-38-56. Not sure if I can overclock this kit any more than the XMP settings already do.

Turn off Geardown mode. Try and see if it lets you go up to 3600MT/s at 1.4v with same timings at stock XMP.

Take out the battery on your motherboard and leave it out for 15 seconds. Then put it back. That will reset your BIOS.

@@deadxn_1 There is no reason why you can't do this on a Gigabyte B450 board, even if the bios layout is different than that shown in the video, the concept is still the same. That I am aware of, ALL B450 and B550 boards have the options needed to make this in the video happen.

@jonathanjoestar9155 If you can't find curve optimizer, you need to go in the "Advavanced" tab then AMD overclocking.

@jonathanjoestar9155 You need to reset your bios. Start from default settings. Then, set your XMP profile and tweaks you saw in the video and set the curve optimizer to -10mv. If that isn't stable, you need to leave it at default value.

Shouldn't this chip be capable of over 4000 easily on the memory since it does not have an infinity fabric link since it's based on the APU die instead of the disaggregated CPU version?

Although it doesn't really make sense to buy 150+ memory for a 100 dollar CPU, it should be possible.

I thought I'd try that but I could not go over 3600MT/s even. I do have B-Die and still 3666 was my max stable no matter what I did to drvr strengths, ProcODT, SoC voltages etc... Perhaps its just my chip or most if not all these chips are really poorly binned :( I find it strange since AMD is using a different IMC for their APU's...

@@TechnologyHive Perhaps it's just that is the max of the board. Since most people would be pairing with CPUs incapable of higher than 3600 over like 90% of the time, they probably didn't bother to put much time into boards that were not explicitly for overclocking.

If i had some cash I would buy some B-Dies to push the CPU as hard as possible, cause it's not based on chiplets. It's monolith. No Infinity fabric

I tried this pbo over ride max frequency +200Mhz on my 5800X3D and the cpu was locked at 3.49Ghz permanently so i desabled it. Look like this Doesn't works on X3D chips? With -30mv undervolt my cpu boosts up to 4.54Ghz all core in games but this over ride setting doesnt work.

No no. The 3D V-cache CPU's are locked, and thus can not be overclocked. But then again, you don't need to if you're just playing games, as the 5800X3D us a beast out of the box. No need to OC it!

Obviously u have higher fps if u add higher memory, 3200 vs 3600mhz cl16 kit u will gain more fps. I liked that positive over ride settings where u added +200Mhz to the cpu boost clock but if u want more fps than buy a more powerful gpu like an RTX3060TI GDDR6X or a 4060TI which is actually cheap( 352€)

Yes you can buy a better GPU of course. But even then, with a better GPU, if you follow these steps you will find it that your games FPS improve in most cases. 15-20 extra FPS is common with these simple changes. However, for those who can not afford at the moment to upgrade to a better GPU, these simple steps can improve your gaming experience.

Yes and no. Only ram overclocking is allowed on A500 chipsets. So no CPU overclocking or PBO.

Is my cpu temp so high? It's around 76°c when I play sekiro...when I wast in stress test the temp went to 94°c

What kind of cooler are you using? If you are using the stock AMD cooler included in the box, those temperatures are normal.

Yeah get a decent cooler, the stock one is a joke and mine was noisy too. I would get 92C in synthetic tests, with a cheaper be quiet! cooler it topped out on 79C. And undervolting should help too.

You can kinda OC it even on A520 a little bit, by raising the base clock by a few MHz (look up BCLK OC). But do a basic undervolting first (DVID) by setting a negative offset. I did a very basic RAM OC too, by raising the multiplier to get from 3200 to 3400MHz.

My cpu life will be very short if i follow this video only! i was use the old way to UV&OC , 4.3Ghz with 1.3V but i try your tutorial, the voltage up to 1.53V !! I know i have worst cpu silicon quality, but i think you miss to lower the voltage in first page? i still try doing more with sittings with yours. thanks :) fast update: the power plan in windows effect the performance, i was use power saver plan (short time for try fix a bug in game only), with your tutorial sittings + from AI Tweaker page, set CPU Voltage to offeset mode, and choose nigative, and i put low number use - and + on keyboard, i set 0.08750. you say you have bad silicon cpu, but mine is much worse 😆 ryzen 5500 + TUF B450M Gaming pro. second update: in cpu-z benchmark version 17.01 the result is better now, SC: 604 (529 before ) and MC: 4639 (4618 before) < I got different results every time now. and cpu voltage is: 0.4V to 1.294V, this is great ! cpu speed: 2.86Mhz to 4.45Mhz !
