AMD Ryzen 5 8600G - Mini price for big power

AMD's 8000 series APUs bring bring with them AI acceleration and a host of other features. For us normal end users however, they simply mean CPUs with good graphics capabilities. The Ryzen 5 8600G makes a sensible case for itself at the current going price. Gaming on a budget has never made more sense than it does now.

You don't need the graphics with an APU for a MC server, you could get a equal if not more powerful CPU for similar or less.

@@ricardomilos590 - Until you need to troubleshoot and don't want to mess with anything other than a standard GUI interface. The 8600g is also extremely efficient, thanks to the monolithic die.

​@arthurwintersight7868 but most CPUs come with integrated graphics, just don't need the APU which will have a lot of hardware you won't use, and less hardware that would be best for a server.

@@ricardomilos590 - Fair enough, but I definitely wouldn't get one with no iGPU. Being able to plug in a monitor to troubleshoot is such a valuable thing.

It plays games, I think its fantastic. Not everyone needs to play max graphics at 120FPS. I played CyberPunk 2077 (medium detail) with FSR Balanced at 1080P and it was fantastic, usually above 50FPS.

This is a good option who want to start with AM5 build, and later upgrade it with a dGPU.

Totally, that's the point of the APU and the 8600G at the current price or cheaper makes total sense.

I never understood "budge" builds for "gaming". just go buy a user gaming computer for the same price with better performance.

Believe it or not, most pre built PC's at under R10K or $600 will not have a GPU that can match what the 8600G can do. While $600 may not be much to you, to other people they need a PC (so console not an option) and $600~ is all there is. For those the 8600G makes sense
