AMD's Ryzen 7 7800 X3D launched nearly 12 months ago and in that time, it hasn't gotten any slower, only a lot more affordable.
At $370 USD on Amazon or R8,599 at www.progenix.co.za/
It's hard to find a more cost effective high end gaming CPU. Actually it's impossible, the 7800X3D sets the bar and is the standard for gaming performance.
Paired with a good B650E board, ultimate PC gaming, doesn't need a $500 CPU.

I just upgraded after a decade of Athlon FX-8150. I gotta say, I'm loving how fast this 7800x3d is!

Must be a massive upgrade as the compute power of the 7800X3D vs FX-8150 is light years apart. Awesome upgrade 👌

@@TheOverclockerMagazine 7 years ago my fx8350 after 2 years of oc gave up and exploded causing a mini fire in my case. I was watching a gruesome liveleak video at the time and I think it was a wake up call to get my shit together.

@@nonernone9449 The performance difference in games is just super huge, I also program and the multi threaded compilation times are breaking records when I am doing something, I'd suggest you get a new DDR5 system with a 7800X3D immediately, you'll feel the difference.

Intel is way behind in terms of watt usage, temps and gaming with higher price range. While intel is better in other tasks, for gaming AMD is incredible. Hope for the same scenarios for their future GPUs

Yeah I'm still pretty shocked at the differences in in-game power consumption. It's 2.5X in some instances for slightly worse performance. That said, e-cores off makes a massive difference, that 180W goes down to 105W which is still not 77W but a massive improvement.

Do you think it's worth upgrading from 7950x to 7800x3D purely for gaming ? i had 7950x since launch since it was heavely discounted and 3D didn't exist yet. Or should i wait for next gen ?
@TheOverclockerMagazine

No please wait rather. Ryzen 9000 series is likely less than 8 months away. Your 7950X is more than enough for now imho

Im not sure whether to buy the 7800x3d now or wait for the 9000 series to release? Some people are saying amd are likely to release the 9000 x3d card straight away but others say theyll wait. I dont want to be waiting to buy a cpu forever so what do you think?

Hmm the new CPUs are coming Q3 apparently but that could be 3 months from now as well. So if you're willing to wait up till then far then... wait but if you want to buy now the 7800X3D is still the fastest Gaming CPU for the most part

@@TheOverclockerMagazine Alrighty I appreciate it! Supposedly they may be announcing some of their chips early June at computex, so I'll wait till then at least and see if the 7800 drops at all. Thanks for the reply!

I think wait and see how the 9000 series performs before pulling the trigger. You can always buy the 7800X3D if you're not impressed by the upcoming CPUs but may pay even even cheaper price at the time. Won't be long now, just a few months at worst

It's just for reference. The focus is what performance you get with the CPU, not how much slower or faster it is against another one. It still proved the point that it's the fastest gaming CPU around a year later.

Pretty damn sure you're nerfing the 7800x3d by just running it at 8000mhz. Pretty sure the CPU will run better at like 6000mhz 30cl.
@TheOverclockerMagazine
@TheOverclockerMagazine 3 ай бұрын
Who knows right? The performance was actually scaling, with the DSRAM frequency. Runnings 1:1 with uCLK MCLK is best but both 6000 CL30 and 6400 CL32 were beaten by 8000 in all tests

@@TheOverclockerMagazine Both CPUs are bandwidth starved. You are correct my 7800x3d cares more about bandwidth than latency. If you tune RAM on each platform respectively to provide the max bandwidth as per IMC in games that involve heavy CPU computational loads Intel actually pulls ahead slightly ahead. In all other instances the AMD is in front. You can see these results in games the run heavy background simulations, complex physics engines, games that use unity engine or are unoptimised CPU fires like Star Citizen or unreal engine 5 where the game is waiting on more than the render pipeline to generate frames.

@@TheOverclockerMagazine that’s exactly what I thought. The 7800x3D is a gaming BEAST, but I game at 1080p so for me extra difference from 200fps to 300 is not important. Thx for reply. ✌️
