The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the truth! taking it to my Intel i9 14900KS while consuming half the power!. Unfortunately I was unable to provide a uniformed on screen display, due to MSI Afterburner not fully supporting the 9800X3D at this time. I had to use HWinfo64 to grab the temps, clock speed and power draw.

I've seen people easily get +400(or more) mhz with ECLK async mode + PBO and mix of UV and OV. I've also seen a few videos where OCing scaled exponentially with gaming performance, especially in 0.1% and 1% lows. Would be fun to compare.

@@Bang4BuckPCGamer games cant effectively use more then 8 cores. AMD hasn't done anything special, it's just the fastest 8-core CPU for 16-threaded games. The problem is that where AMD's processor is almost fully loaded, Intel still has a lot of free power. Its better to wait 9950x3d.

@@EvaEvaCoco it's cores aren't faster, the 14900ks is technically a 8 core cpu because its the 8 performance cores doing all the heavy lifting in games. It's the cache that helps it because it doesn't have to dip into system memory. If you play anything that goes past the cache limits then it starts to faulter but there aren't many games that do that. I'm not saying it's bad, quite the opposite lol.

Hey thanks for the video but a little advice for cpu testing, always use max settings and RT and lower the resolutions as max as possible until you are not GPU limited anymore because there is CPU intensive settings like RT, still massive advantage from AMD but i can't go back to an 8C chip so i'm looking forward to the 9950X3D

Would love to see more of this especially in titles with RT that‘s hammering the CPU like Hitman 3, Jedi Survivor and Spider-Man. If you were to make such a video could you include the 0.2% lows as well through CapFrameX? Maybe just show the entire stats that it provides. With your 14900KS setup that has an Apex Encore with watercooled 8400 RAM, it really shows how fast it is with such tuning because it took the 9800X 3D to beat it in some cases and even then, its not always a massive lead. In Horizon Forbidden West and Last Of US Part 1, sure, the 9800X 3D is faster, but your 14900KS is so close that especially at those stupid high framerates, its giving you basically the same experience.

It's about using Lower Res today to basically have no gpu limit (faking the Unlimited GPU power) CPU bottleneck,..so you can see the CPU maximums stretching its legs at max capabilities,..Max Capabilities of the CPU... so in 4 years you add a much faster GPU, the CPU limits can guide you to what you should be buying, not overbuying for example..

you can have cpu bottleneck even at 1440p tho? cpu bottleneck is not about resoultion, it is about how demanding the game on the gpu hence it require faster cpu. if u run a game at 1080p ultra settings it will be slower than a 1440p at settings. the faster ur cpu, the faster ur gpu and more frames u will have at lower settings or at less demanding games. it isnot about 1080p. run ur brain.

That's because today's 1080p is tomorrow's 1440p. If you want to know how these CPUs will compare at 1440p within a couple of years, this will be a better indicator. Hardware Unboxed has a video covering exactly this and shows clips from past reviews as proof.

Its the same load but lower fps The cpu has lower load because it only needs to prep 100 frames in a second instead of 500 frames in a second The graphics card becomes the limiting factor but the load didnt increase(assuming you not cpu bottlenecked at the lower resolution)

FPS don’t tell the entire story here. Yes they’re higher for the 9800x3d in average FPS, but the 1 and 0.1% lows tell the story. This is due to 3d V cache. When too many assets need to be loaded and the 3d cache is overwhelmed you get the good old AMdip in the frame rate when cache memory has to access the ram. That’s the problem with chiplet architecture. Core i9 doesn’t dip nearly as bad. So it provides a better overall experience in that respect. This is very noticeable in RTS style games and things like COD war zone. As a consumer this is something you need to decide if this matters to you. For me personally it does. I’m not an Intel fan boy. believe it or not intel joined “AMdip” with LGA 1851 with their chiplet design. Most people are unaware of this aspect.

I will need to spare the money that I had for the 5090 to change the platform too, my 14900k began to have issues again, random system shutdowns during gaming and os freezes during idle. So at this point I'm quite fed up with this platform, was nothing but problems for me from the get go. Hopefully the 9800x3d in combination with the x870e crosshair will be what it supposed to be for my needs with no further issues.

Just RMA it and get a new one. Also, why are you buying a 650 EUR motherboard for AMD if you need the money for the 5090? These CPUs run best at around 6000/6200 CL 28. You can run the CPU and this RAM on some motherboard that you can find on the street behind the trashcan.

The new king. But I’ve notice on a lot of videos that in “Horizon Forbidden West” the 9800x3D performs badly in 1%lows. Like real bad. Why is that? Only game that sticks out in a negative way. In all the other games it crushes everything but not here. Someone?

I use the Artic Freezer III 360 AIO for the 9800X3D. It is only a 120W part so no need for the crazy cooling. That remains with my i9 14900KS, and it sure does need it.

hoghwards legcy cpu bound area holy molly 9800x3d it's crazy fast i never saw a cpu push 4090 over 200fps at the start of the hoghsmeade or 50 fps more in cyberpunk while i didn't play others games so i don't know which areas are more cpu bound.... whould be good to see baldus gate city area or microsoft fly simulator cities area etc..

@@ebrahimsalman2152 It’s quite drastic actually. -30 all core pulled 32 less watts in R23 while reducing temps by 17C and scored +500. Gaming wattage and temps have a similarly nice reduction as well.

Congratulations are in order. Your video was used to counter someone else's video claiming that the 14900ks (similar OC, ram specs) trounces the 9800x3d. Quite a few viewers pointed out the irregularities in his results and referenced your video here. He hid those comments (because they are gone now) instead of providing an explanation to the regularities. Another issue was that didn't show all the benchmark results. One viewer stated that he left out a benchmark result using another part of warzone city area. Which was clearly shown on his list of benchmark results. Regardless, just thought I let you know. KZbinr is frame chasers. 😉

Half the power draw and at least 25% better gaming performance, I mean it wasn't a contest even against 7800x3d... But now AMD is just wiping the floor with Intel in gaming. Granted, 9800x3d is a tad bit more expensive than this i9 at the moment. We need to wait for a little while for prices to come down.

Can you explain why its wiping the floor with intel? I was told 120fps is more than enough for AAA titles and both these cpus easily beat that. So I really dont get why it matters? My eyes could not tell the difference between the 2. I get the point of a more powerful gpu but not with cpus? Sorry im not an expert.

@prussell890 in truth, it's mostly hyperbole. This is the only zen 5 offering that wasn't underwhelming, and intel's new architecture was also underwhelming, even more so than their last entry. We saw a similar situation a decade ago in Intels favour and again when ryzen first launched, so if I were AMD I wouldn't become complacent with their victory this time.

@@prussell890 120fps is good but most monitors nowadays come with 144-165hz and I personally would love to see my fps in that range. With that in mind, if I can buy something at the same price with intel(7800x3d) but better performance and much better power consumption (my power consumption is like 30w in 1440p most of time) without the 13th and 14th gen Intel's drawbacks I would happily do so. Also new gen Intel processors aren't really improving anything over 14th and 9800x3d is just king in the throne that costs a hundred usd more than the already legendary 7800x3d. After all said and done you also need to think about the future games as well. Personally speaking, I upgrade my PC like every 5 years so I will demand the absolute best I can purchase while not spending a fortune on it. That's why AMD just wipes the floor with Intel in my opinion.

You're hitting a GPU bottleneck in 4 out of these 7 games with 9800X3D. So the difference might be even bigger with a 5090. I'd rather use 720p high settings to force a CPU bottleneck because settings like NPC density are heavier on the CPU.

game engines will have issues with 720p and will not peerform as good as 1080p, in fact the 720 can cause complex issues that will hinder the cpu no matter how powerful it is.
