Thanks so much for this amazing vid Christopher. I did my 1st build following your guide. I have a quick question for you. I have an asrock x670e steel legend and a DDR 5 by GSkill that's on the VQL list. Using the Expo profile for the 3rd day after I got the build up & running, I got a BSOD about 1 hour after waking up the PC from a sleep with code 50 (which is related to RAM). I run a memtest86 with the JEDEC profile and 4 passes came out with 0 errors. Should I try increasing the RAM voltage to 1.4v with the expo profile or do you think I have a bad RAM? Any hints would be appreciated.

I know there is the posibility of wifi but which would be the best part/adapter for this build that would allow the use of wifi. As a first time builder this guide is perfect for me to follow, but its the one thing holding me back from building it. Keep up the good work.

Hi i have Gigabyte x670 gaming X. There are 2x 8pins slots to power CPU on this motherboard. My CPU is Ryzen 9 7900 x. And my question is: i need connect 2 cables to power up this CPU or one is enought? I dont need to overclocking this CPU. Please help anybody.

Hey always a nice surprise to hear another Northern Irish accent! Did you need extra brackets for the cooler to work? It went real quick from "all am4 coolers work" to "our am4 coolers will need a new bracket/screws" on most manufacturers. I really wanted to NZXT Z93 but unsure if it will work now as its not even on AMD's listed as compatible :/ How does the fan sound while air cooling btw?

It isn't, in heavy CPU loads: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJS4pn13gdaWnZo If you want a 7900X, get an AIO cooler, not an air cooler. Not to mention that if you look at the GPU installation, the back plate of the GPU is right up against the CPU cooler. This will likely impede air flow to the cpu and might affect gpu cooling. This build has other issues, like improper thermal paste spread on the cpu and installation of the M.2 drive on the chipset lanes, not the cpu lanes which adds a small amount of latency. None of these issues are as big as using an air cooler for the 7900X but you get the point.

One Remark about the Bios Update. It looks like that AMD has included Bios Flashback (flashing Bios without CPU/RAM) in every AM5 Motherboard now.

Christopher, you sound as Irish as your name... and that's a good thing! 😁👍 I'm quite certain that if this were my build that I'd also choose the ASRock X670E PG Lightning but I'd for sure choose the R7-7800X3D because I'm more of high-end gamer than anything else. I would also use my existing AMD Wraith Prism cooler because I wouldn't be looking forward to having to literally take the socket apart. Alas, I have an R7-5800X3D mounted on an ASRock X570 Pro4 with 64GB of DDR4-3600 so I'm not able to justify the upgrade cost as there's not a single game in the world that the R7-5800X3D can't easily handle, especially since I game at 4K with an RX 7900 XTX. Gaming at high resolution means that my video card is my limiting factor, not my CPU. I estimate that I should get another five years or so out of my current setup. I'm really excited to know what will be available for me then as I never stop paying attention to the PC parts market, looking for bargains that I can't refuse. (It's why I have 64GB of RAM, 5.5TB of SSD space and over 60TB of HDD space). I'm thankful to have a server supertower case to hold it all and a 1kW PSU to power it all. 😆

Does Asrock b650 pg lightning cpu performance presets use negative or positive curve optimizer? I tried the "PBO, TJmax 85c, curve optimizer, -40mv" profile cb23 crashes and rebooted pc right away...I disabled the profile and aer back my CO settings. CPU: 7800x3d

It's just a basic swivel seat bolted to the original bench seat. Don't know the exact model as I picked it up from Walmart on holiday, but it was the cheapest one they sold. Does the job and breaks up sitting on the tubes.

I'm building my new PC. AMD platform very tricky. Then using ASRock X670E PG Lightning will be better use Asus Strix B650E which has much more (More PCIex5 m2 slots, Hiend audio, More Hi speed ports and etc )then this cheap board. RAM should eat least 6000 mhz it is AMD requirements. Please, don't use air cooler for this type of CPU. The best option Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360. Good luck in your built!

Dude... spread the thermal paste, for crying out loud! The Ryzen 7000 series ramp up to 95C and the better you cool them, the higher the performance. You should probably go with an AIO liquid cooler for the 7900X and 7950X. In full core loads the CPU will likely throttle with this air cooler and with your poor technique of applying thermal paste. For the 7600X and 7700X you might be okay though.

Just look at the Mac Studio with M1 Ultra: -$5400 (with 64GB and 2tb ssd) -unable to run Windows properly -terrible for gaming -gpu is weak, vs RTX 3080 -not upgradable, or repairable -runs ARM cpu from a cell phone It's basically a fat Mac Mini, for $5400. A disposable and dead-end machine. A $2200 Windows PC will just *destroy* the Mac Studio.
