We've got some more information from AMD's own Jack Huynh for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. x.com/JackMHuynh According to AMD's own benchmarks the 9800X3D will be about 8-10% faster on average compared to the 7800X3D. So it is slightly better than I had expected. However I am hearing the price will be indeed be increasing 💰💰 to $479 so it kind of negates the increase. Was hoping they'd keep the prices the same.

285K is already faster than 7800X3D and on par at gaming. Comparison has been done with UDIMM's because AMD doesn't support CUDIMM. All you need to do is lift to 5.1 E Cores/4.1 Cache with CUDIMM 8400 and 285K is on top. Very minor change. Take in count OS win doesn't fully support Arrow Lake and BIOS's are updated almost daily. These results don't even have new updates included. Only handful of 285K's were released. We can only guess why. The missing component seems to be Battlemage. Are we testing the Arrow Lake and fine tuning it? Or are we waiting for the Battlemage to be ready? That much I know if you got the 285K you won the lottery because no one else has it. There is huge potential for the CPU. "9800X3D will be about 8-10%" but INTEL has already beaten 7800X3D. Plus there is lot more to come. We are talking about product that hasn't been launched yet. Maybe it is only 5%. And the 9800X3D only supports 5600 UDIMM RAM. AMD is loosing 10-15% on RAM support alone.

@@ZackSNetwork In average fps sure because of the GPU bottleneck, but 0.1% lows is typically dictated by the CPU side as assets and textures are being loaded and having a larger pool of cache and far reaching branch prediction helps with that. I'm probably gonna end up going with AMD for now. Been on Intel for ages and I like what they're attempting with Arrow lake.. but it needs a little more refinement. After talking with some more experienced overclockers and system builders I think I'll just go with 9950X3D for now. May check in on Intel again once were closer to Nova lakes debut. Especially if that rumored 52 core (16p/36e) skew ends up on the market. That's one thing Intel is missing right now that others have also mentioned is a good Halo product to rally behind. Intel used to have their extreme series CPU's with the 9980xe and 10980xe along with an absurd MSRP lol. I think they should bring back the extreme series. Ultra Extreme 9 485XE Ultimate Dominator CPU lol (Seems to be how marketing thinks..) Also saw an article about the Biostar X870E Valkyrie motherboard. Hopefully it launches along with X3D. I really like the fratures and rear IO on the board. It's got a pretty clean basic aesthetic to, not completely slathered in neon colors RGB and chrome. I really like the Asrock Z890 boards too.. but Arrow Lake seems like more of a prototype than a product atm.. Hopefully Intel can offer something enticing based off of it in 2-3 years.

What a lot of people miss out on is the fact that you can get a 7800X3D with a B650 motherboard and a 32GB 6000 RAM for mess than a high end Z790 motherboard like the Apex, that point you missed when you mentioned yourself being the owner of a 14900K paired with such OC focused board without forgetting the expensive ram and cooling. Comparing the X3D parts to any tuned Intel chip is simply stupid, especially when missing out on the most important factor which is price/ performance figures. Even the 9800X3D with it's 480$ price tag still a good value proposition compared to those power hungry delidded and fine tuned 14900K or KS + 8000MT/s RAM + Direct Die cooling and so on.

I'm still tempering expectations. Because AMD has had a history to literally trip on its face when they are ahead or should be going for Intel's jugular (so to speak). The Zen 5 non x3d chips that came out was so underwhelming, that I simply can't get overly excited for the x3d parts yet. With the Intel Ultra chips being a joke for gaming, the x3d chips need to perform without any underlying issues (i.e. windows scheduler, or unlimited power profiles, etc).

9800X3D TSMC price to AMD that is AMD cost range $152 to $159 before AMD high volume customer, mid volume, tray mark up. I estimate 2.6 M units. Arrow disaster it's not just an Intel or MS scheduler question. Applications developers and certainly game dev extort Intel and AMD for payola to optimize their games. AMD, Intel, Nvidia can certainly educate, train and provide tools but ultimately it's up to application developers to do their own optimizations for every new architecture in the hardware software collaborative. This reality is as old as every Real Time Operating System and the question when to optimize always falls to volume and attach rate aka potential. Arrow as it is currently, what OEMs ordered for enterprise customer PC power efficiency verse Raptors, 1 HT system security and warranty assurance. Yea, AMD and Intel are racing and relying on the 80% whole product rule. GPU benefit from 'fine wine' optimization over time? So do CPU architectures from application compiler optimization; branch and targets I believe it is referred. AND well Danhy, if fast memory on the Intel side to make up for new and waiting latency address, that affects AMD too, and with 3D ability to run an application in L3 buffer, resolves to hide architecture issues and platform CPU memory bus saturation issues on the AMD side as well. All about hiding sins of one sort or another. Ha, Projekt RED, CyberPunk 2077, bad or good example let me think on that a dev lagging on their Arrow optimization? I'd bet they have their hand out "pay me pay me". You can see that fact on other including open world titles that perform much better. mb

the 9000 series as a whole aren't worth it over the 7000 Non-X and soon X3D series because the price difference is huge while the performance uplift is minimal. Also I wouldn't call Arrow Lake disaster, it's got slightly worse performance(up to 10% slower) while running at 60% the power of 14th gen and the prices are lower than AMD's offerings, so even though AMD is still overall a better purchase, unless you are doing exactly what Arrow lake is strong at, Arrow lake is the best release since Intel's 10th gen.

60% power from the 14th gen is still fairly high for CPUs. and they are not 10% slower. They are unstable and fluctuate between as great as 40% slower. They are just not a good buy atm no way you look at it. Intel's CPUs atm are half baked and needed to stay cooking a bit longer before release.

@@forog1 True, but they also do have a lot of cores and Skymond E-Cores are basically raptor lake P-Cores in terms of IPC and have the exact same instruction set, they are only missing AVX512 compared to the Lion Cove P-Cores. Hyper-Threading became pointless with Meteor Lake and even more so with Lunar/Arrow Lake, so that's the other big difference. There are a few games where that(up to 40%) happens true, but that is more of a software issue along with the increase in memory latency, most likely windows and is concerning the scheduling between the P and E cores and memory access and scheduling. As time passes on, Windows will get better at managing them hopefully. As for stability, I haven't heard anything about it. Shouldn't they be stable now that they consume a lot less power? Also they run pretty cool for their power draw.

@@R6ex Then go with a 7800x3d. And If your upgrading from an older platform none of that other stuff matters anyways.

Intel marketing surely works... amd needs some of that copium. Cudimm expensive af, x670/b650 board exists. No need to go x870 and 9000 series other than the 9950x is just as cheap as the 7000 series at least in the US.

BULLSHIT. 5.1 E Cores/4.1 Cache with CUDIMM and it is par. INTEL is so underpowered and so much ahead on productivity even on UDIMM and out of the box. OS doesn't even support Arrow Lake fully and MB's are so far from optimal BOIS that it is not even funny. Add to that the low end MB's and ASUS that are really weak. INTEL released a handful of 285K's just to get some feedback. It is to keep MB manufacturers at check. Plus the real performance for gaming comes with Battlemage that is obvious from the lack of Hyper-Threading Technology and very strong E Cores.
