these rentals look so much better than what I see in the US now
@bjm90712 жыл бұрын
Great views across the lake, but if you are wondering what those big white things are at the base of the mountains: that is the famous Mexican Driscoll's berry farm and they are tents above the crop. I didn't have a chance to visit on my last trip, but bought a lot of berries at the local farmer's market in Ajijic.
@Cindy_Cyndrella2 жыл бұрын
Not for nothing, but those rents are high. The last one was beautiful and large though. I suppose for what you get, mountain views, all new living space, that rent is reasonable? I pay $822 for a two bedroom two bath with everything included except cable and internet, in West Texas! I couldn't afford living in Mexico, or at least that town. They are charging expats high rents I think, but the views and spaces are beautiful and fully furnished. Thank you for the video.

1,100 for the 1st one is crazy. I'm on the UES in Manhattan and pay 1,300 for a place that size. Central Park a short walk away. Sad to see Gringos causing prices to shoot up there.
@FreshAirRules2 ай бұрын
When gringos don't think they get fleeced. When they all flock to a certain area like this they get fleeced. And the locals get pushed out. Everyone loses. All they need to do is learn about Mexico more and what people actually pay. No a breakfast should not cost $15. Because that breakfast has about 50 cents of food in it, at most. Go to a big market in Mexico and you'll gasp at the prices. Prices that real people pay there. Not idiot expats.

Great video! My wife and I are new subscribers and planning to move to Ajijic/Chapala area in the next five years for retirement. We were there last year and rented north of the road above Ajijic. Looking forward to watching your past future posts! Thanks again

@AmeliaAndJP2 жыл бұрын
We’ve only seen one place with one bedroom condos in Ecuador: Riva di Mare in Manta. And it’s expensive. Probably cheaper to rent a two bedroom someplace else. One bedrooms are not common in Latin America. They have big families and often multigenerational households.

I'm originally from Mexico and live in Arizona. My children are all grown now and I'm seriously considering moving back home but unfortunately all my family has disbursed and no longer together, some have passed away. Are there communities in areas of Mexico for 55 and over senior residents? Btw. I've been watching your videos from Ecuador. ❤️ 💙 love them but scared to move by myself to Ecuador

The lake Chapala area is nice, but the prices have jumped up a lot. The landlords know they are selling to expats and have priced accordingly. It is still cheaper than the USA, but I think you can get better in other places.

It's not unreasonable to assume that any building or development that is trying to compete on an international level to attract buyers from abroad whose wealth is in a different currency will price their homes and developments accordingly. This doesn't look like something an average local with an average salary earned in the local currency could ever afford.

Anyone planning to move to Mexico better get their permanent visas soon! In 2023, as I understand, required monthly income for a pensioner's visa will be $3000. Investment visa? $100,,000? Maybe not that high but close. All that kind of money most don't have tied up in a Mexican bank? Or just rent a vacation rental or live somewhere on the beach like they do in California.
@herregalness74612 жыл бұрын
Those were lovely properties. Would you say Ecuador is cheaper as it relates to rental properties?
@AmeliaAndJP2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the area. Ajijic is one of the most expensive places in Mexico so if you compare it to the most expensive places in Ecuador like Manta or Cumbaya, the prices are similar. There are more affordable places in both countries.

One bedrooms are hard to find in Latin America. They have large families and often multigenerational households. However, you can often rent one room with a local family and get a truly authentic experience. We have friends who have done that and love it. Plus, they learned Spanish really fast!
