Thanks for your update. I’m currently on an elemental diet for methane dominant SIBO, so I definitely feel your pain. It can be overwhelming and daunting to battle SIBO, but you’re doing a fantastic job dealing w/ everything. I totally agree w/ you that a big piece of the SIBO puzzle for a lot of people is stress. At first, I found it hard to adapt to my new normal, but I think a positive mindset has helped me shift out of feeling like I was doomed for life. I hope you’re coping well, feeling better, and being kind to yourself. 💜

I have IBS and a "lazy" stomach (paresis - a light case) and sometimes digestion is a real struggle. While I was obsessing over it, it was getting worse. Now, I just know what -most of the time- my stomach and gut want and I do the best I can. Diets haven't really changed much, I avoid some foods, but my flare ups are sometimes out of the blue. So, I live with it, I try not to care too much and I am happy it is not something worse. Lots of love ❤️

I’m glad you found your balance! I’d heard about that clinic in Austria, right? I hope you’ll be able to go back soon. I had my IBS under control, and then I hit my late 40’s, and everything went out of control. The doctors were not any more helpful than they were when I was 19. So, on my own I figured out it was the change of my hormones, and this was a big stress to my system, and flared my IBS and food allergies. I started gaining weight, but I was actually eating less due to problems with digestion. I started taking enzymes which helped a lot. I had already been taking acidophilus. More research...so intermittent fasting totally works for me. I’m less sensitive to spicy food. I give my body 16 hours of no food which allows full digestion and a boost to immunity, due to that time of not eating. Plus, all of the food I buy now is organic. I’m American, and I think my body is also sensitive to how food has been manipulated. I’m an omnivore, but I eat more fish because it’s my preference, and it’s easier to digest. Rice had always been my safe food, but over time, I found I no longer was. I haven’t had rice since January. If I had a bit of an upset (it’s been months since) I have bone broth with a bit of apple cider vinegar and ginger. This is a better option than white rice. Anyway, good luck on your journey!

I had the same... and at the end it was fructose and a lack of stomach fluids and stomach enzyms. But fructose made all te different. I stopped eating 'healthy' or what everyone says it is healthy, and i lost one size straight away by just being deflated. Have you ever tried this? I had no proper intolerance, but it was just toooo much with all the fruits, and veg, and juices. Now after six month I feel healthier than ever.

I used to have really bad IBS flare ups for years and years. Until I stopped the pill. All it took for my flare ups to stop was to stop the pill. It was almost immediate. I am convinced from my own experience with what was diagnosed as IBS, that IBS is very influenced by hormones, so the contraceptive pill is likely to be an issue for some women. I suffered very badly in the perimenopause, for about 4 -5 years. Once in actual menopause, IBS has all but disappeared, with no other change to my diet or stress levels. Most clinicians and alternative practitioners talk about diet and stress-reduction in relation to IBS but seldom hormones (despite far more women than men being affected).

I have SIBO as well for so many years now. Have you tried or heard of Megasporebiotic? Im currently taking it and it’s promising. I also recently got Foodmarble which is a device you blow into and it tells you your hydrogen gas levels, similar to the SIBO breath test, but you can use it anytime like after a meal to see how your body reacts to certain foods. It’s been helpful to help me keep track of my progress.

Hey Amelia! I understand this is your story (and I’m not saying that alternate therapy shouldn’t be talked about) but in an age of doctor/science skepticism I really wish you would have put a caveat to try encourage people to still seek traditional medical attention (in addition to alternative medicine). Again, understand this is your story and it is difficult enough without thinking about a million things like that. Regardless I am glad that you are doing better 🧡
@rattylol
@rattylol 4 жыл бұрын
Did you listen, she said she tried that first and nothing helped, that's when people find "alternative" therapies, hence the name. Don't you know that most medicine derives from old therapies?
@Bekkie8893
@Bekkie8893 4 жыл бұрын
@@rattylol with respect I think you've misinterpreted my criticism. As I said, there is nothing wrong with discussing alternative therapy and there is obviously a place for it where traditional medicine fails. I just think messaging is important here, and I wouldn't want someone to stumble on the video and completely rule out consulting with doctors/relevant health care professionals because of anecdotal experience.

We should trust science. Only a small percentage of a population it's actually diagnosis with celiac disease, we have to be careful on what's actually exposed on the social media.... Gluten free its a huge market profit for countries like USA and UK. Do your homework and trust your medical provider.
@NL0232
@NL0232 4 жыл бұрын
@@manatolia205 unfortunately the science is not there on a lot of these conditions yet, hence medical practitioners do not have proven treatments for patients that work. It's actually a rather beautiful, complimentary system where alternative medicine passed down generations and cultures has it's place - just like a physiotherapist or dietician have their place.

I know how you feel, was diagnosed with SIBO a couple of years ago now and about a year ago, after a year of antibiotics, fodmap/keto dieting, and repeated testing, I was informed that my form of SIBO is resistant to treatment, so on top of two autoimmune diseases(celiacs/crohns) I also have SIBO to manage. I was very depressed at first, but like you I now don't take the tests and when I feel the familiar symptoms of a SIBO flare up, I call my doctor in order to get a round of meds to assist me in managing things. For the most part I manage my SIBO similarly through a carefully cultivated diet as well as other healthy lifestyle tools like regular physical activity, proper sleep, etc...

I can identify with you so much. I have had IBS and gluten intolerance since I was 21. I am now 62. I can’t remember when I did not have some issue with my gut. The symptoms have evolved and changed over the years. The process of accepting the diagnosis and living with the diagnosis takes a long time. Just about the time you think you have figured out a way of living with the condition life happens and symptoms change and another cycle of coping begins. Fodmap diet helps, but is very challenging to adhere to. Exercise helps. A calm life helps, but is totally unrealistic especially for Type A personality. What works is taking everyday, doing your best to eat well, staying away from trigger foods, BREATH, and try to be good to oneself. Keep trying to find what helps YOUR symptoms.

Amelia, you may know this already; please consider high intensity exercise often floods the body with the stress hormone cortisol, which could be exacerbating the SIBO. Although you might get an “exercise high”, it could actually be a flight or fight response. This happens for a lot of people, although not everybody. Exercising without reaching that high intensity could be better for you. Sorry if this is unsolicited advice 😊, I just feel it could help you.

This is a revelation. It has taken me 6 years of doctors visits to finally get a blood test to rule out all the ones it wasn’t. I felt very down when I was told what it wasn’t as I just wanted to get it sorted. Finally, a doctor says it must be IBS by default with me knowing more than he did! I’m vegetarian by choice but I am gluten and lactose free because it started to help my body. Over lockdown I stared to take the digestive plus powders from Arbonne and all the bloating has nearly gone to an extent that I feel confident in wearing clothes that don’t float over my tummy. The powders are not a solution but they definitely have something in them that agrees with my body. I find eating out an issue and have made to feel really awkward about what I can’t eat. I have been known to tell a server that this is not something I have by choice and imagine a menu where you can only eat maybe one thing! I got really emotional when I went into a cafe and I had a choice of milk alternatives and things I could eat and I apologised for getting emotional and had to explain what a revelation it was to be able to go somewhere and not to have to interrogate the serving staff and be able to pick something off the menu like I had been able to do before. My other half says I sleep all the time and I didn’t even think about this as being connected. Our food shop has increased in price as the ‘special food’ is so expensive and all seems to be high in sugar. Thank you for making this video, i can imagine your day to day struggles and I wish I could make it all disappear. Sending you much love and virtual hugs.

I was also treated for SIBO at the beginning of my diagnosis because I researched a lot. A lot of what you shared resonates with me. It’s a hard heath issue to deal with because it isn’t always apparent to others what’s going on and it’s not always easy to understand. Being your own heath advocate is truly one of the best things you can do for yourself!

On the back of your vlog about your journey with SIBO I went to find a book because of some similar ups downs in GI territories. I found a small dense paperback cutely titled ‘The Bloated Belly Whisperer’ by Tamara Duker Freeman ,pub- St.Martins Griffin ,not expensive €18.95.. reading it all week, post it’s plastered front to back. She said similar about overdoing it on supplements herbs etc- they can’t be absorbed when you have inflammation. Lots more- she covers upper abdominal (stomach) and lower abdominal ( intestines) forms of bloating ,all the causes,treatments, diets,medications,tests, symptoms,recipe plans ,samples. So,thank you for putting the time and thought into posting this personal account of SIBO. I had been putting my health self check on the back burner .

Amelia, you may not even get to read my comment, but, if one believes in the Ayurvedic philosophy, there are 3 body states/types (Doshas) - Vatha, Pitha, Kapha. Imbalance in any of these results in some ailments. If I am not wrong, what you have is the Pitha imbalance (acne, gut issues etc.). Please try and read about them.

Hi Amelia, silent viewer here with a gf suffering from similar symptoms plus severe anemia for a decade now, however, since only a few weeks she's gettin better and better every day, we can hardly believe it but ALL she's taking now is one single product and so, pls, pls look into it, and all its benefits for overall health as well; its the best natural cure out there without any side effects for the gut, even helps with a so called leaky gut...whatever ailment it is almost, it will help ...its simply a ...good and pure ...Lactoferrin ! It may help you with all your symptoms too ! Regards from Germany and y'all reading here, stay well and safe during these truly challenging times for almost everyone .

Stomach and gut health is soo connected to stress! My gastritis always flares up after stress. In my case I found linseed helps immensely. In particular ground linseed steeped in hot water and stirred vigorously until it releases slime. Appetizing, I know! Haha! But anyone with gastritis, try it out!

I feel you and relate to you a lot! I have IBS, diagnosed as a teen and it wasn't a problem to me on the daily but almost 3 years ago (in my begining of my thirties) I had pretty bad IBS "attack" with other some kind of germ and that left me traumatized for life. had bloating, lower stomach constant pain, lack of appetite, nausea and many more symptoms for months. I left the house only for work because I was scared to leave not knowing what will happen with my stomach and pain. I switched doctors because they thought I was being dramatic about my IBS . with diet for a few months given from naturopath my body healed eventually (took over a year). there are some foods I still avoid and I still pay attention to what I eat 3 years later. I try to eat gluten free mixed with some gluten food (some of the gluten free food in shops has ingredients that are bad for me so its difficult for me to switch completely) and not eating at night.

No joke homeopathy has solved sooo many of my health issues, including gut issues. Im sharing this with you because i had tried all the diets, all the antiobiotics, all the naturopaths, all the acupuntures, all the things and nothing seemed to give me lasting relief. I knw what it feels like to be bloated all the time, have gut pain, be hungry all the time, lacking nutrients..thats why in telling u this bcs i truuuly believe it cld be of benefit to u as it was on me. I actually found my doctor through a health blog, this lady was having really bad adrenal fatigue which i did too and little by little my doctor and i started to peal off layer by layer all my health issues. I wish u the best of luck and if anything ive said interests u let me knw and ill give you all the details i possibly can!! Ahahha 😘

No probiotic ever worked for me until I tried Megasporbiotic, it is so potent you have to open the capsule a sprinkle a little at a time on your food and build it up. Its not about the numbers of bacteria but how effective it is in reaching the gut alive....info that might help somebody...

Fellow sibo Warrior over here! Here is the unsolicited advice I wish I would have been given: my naturopath who is specialised in worse case scenarios called Olivia Hirschberg and the IPPM clinic in Bratislava who is so cutting edge! I’ve been wanting to share that info with you for two years haha take it if you want it :)

I have IBS and I take probiotics and peppermint oil for it. I also take an anti-anxiety medicine for my anxiety and that has worked wonders for my IBS too, my gastro has recommended I try it awhile ago and I wish I tried it sooner!

Hi Amelia, the doc suspecting IBS for me, as my symptoms are matching, had some tests around it. What tests you recommend to ask for & do you follow the lowFODMAP diet? I found it hard tho. Loving the shroom 😊

Thanks so much, I have just been diagnosed with ibs and Sibo and I’m having such a hard time adjusting. I have a very stressful job so it’s even more hard to hear just relax. I love you talking because it’s so emotional to me. I feel like nobody understands and I don’t have the energy to try. If you have tips for simple food (I live in Costa Rica and we don’t have that many options)
