I disagree. It is not really sarcastic for the Greeks that you said. In my opinion it makes a point to relevant third parties by being sarcastic and judging the Greeks. The sarcasm is basically directed to third parties' point of views.

Its a kind of self sarcasm i believe. Of course the "white against black" part does not express any greek's views. It was just for fun

Comments like the one you described are common in conversations with Greeks that live abroad and are proud of their culture, history and heritage.
