It is indeed sad; however, these people all make the daily decision to stay stuck and stay high. Plenty of people come off of drugs.....it is completely possible....the problem is that these people are perfectly happy living amongst actual garbage and amongst other garbage people. It is only when they start taking some personal responsibility for their choices and actions that they will have a chance to dig themselves out of the mess that THEY created!

It just pisses me off here in Wisconsin marijuana is not even legal, but yet people and other cities can stand right out in the open and do drugs fentanyl on top of it a killer drug even a spec can kill you, but they don’t do nothing about them, but here in Wisconsin if you get caught with a joint, or smoking a joint they will damn near give you the death penalty

Oh good heavens don't even get me started!! Billions are spent on programs for these people but they just want the handouts and don't want to do the actual work of getting clean and staying clean! This is the problem with this country....there is absolutely NO personal responsibility anymore! Everyone thinks it should be the government's job to save people like this! It is NOT the government's job!!!!! People need to take some responsibility for their own actions and choices and until that happens, nothing will change. I just can't stand people who think everyone else is responsible for their own situations and circumstances! Personal responsibility in this country has vanished and that is why America is in trouble! I am responsible for my own choices just like these zombies are responsibility for shooting all sorts of toxic crap into their own veins. No one held them all down and injected them in order to make them addicted.....they all choose to do it to themselves day in and day out. I agree l am appalled at the money spent on these addicts paramedics when they OD in and out of rehab l don't know the ins and outs but l often hear a lot of then say they had a very major surgery becuse they used dirty need,es. Not too mention how expensive Hep C and medication a year is for anti viral drugs when you have aids,and these are the highest lot of the population to have these diseases and the list goes on. I saw an interview with a security guard who got scabies while being a guard at a homeless shelter and he could afford to go to the hospital and see a doctor. Unbelievable!

there are centers all around this place, in some of the shots you see a place called "Vital Home Care Center" or something, its not they're not wanting to help these people, its that these people don't want the help.. you give one of these people 10$, they're not going down to the mcdonalds to buy a big mac, they're going down the street to their dealer to get another high...

to add to my other comment, its not "america is in decline from the inside", this is a single street in Philly, sure its a little "wider" than the street but this is "central" for this "problem", its not like the whole east coast is drug addicts and homeless people.. there are actually very little places like this, theres a few "hotspots" but this is the one of the worse of them..

I actually kind of like it, minus the rampant drug use and homelessness; Philly has a cool urban city vibe. Reminds me of the LES New York or the trendy areas in Brooklyn but less expensive. Plus Kensington is right by Fishtown where the hipsters live.
