A lot of people I know who don't follow politics thought Palin was genuine presidential material. They had no clue that it was just a desperate ploy. I showed them the Daily Show clip of McCain's best bud, Lieberman, laughing at how ridiculous a pick she was, but it hardly fazed them. It wasn't just that they liked her - they identified with her. Palin was just an ordinary person, neither smart nor dumb, thrust into a extraordinary situation. She wasn't a moron, she just didn't belong there.
