Rent and utilities in Dubuque Iowa on a two bath home was over 1800 two years ago. A 1.5 bath, 2 BR apartment in the Chicago area was over 1600. Regardless we are talking about people making minimum wage (average age 29) who are living paycheck to paycheck and despite working 40 or more hours a week by both parents need food banks and food stamps to get by.
