The improvements made weren’t cheap but is absolutely worth it when you factor in reliability in not having to replace parts after every run. I believe this would be absolutely a winner at endurance racing like Le Mans.

Many years ago the company I worked for sent me to a class that taught us about vibration and frequently of equipment. How things can go into a resonant frequency, how to use equipment to measure and plan maintenance based on those readings . I remember years ago a company how they used a large electric motor to spin up there engine to see how or what was going on with the valve train . I thought you had valve train problems and that your using a spin tron to solve those problems makes a lot of since . I been told that the oil helps cool the valve springs . Being able to spin up the engine and have it reliable seems to be a winning process. I don't know anything about building the engine you have but I was told that some of the very high rpm engines have loft designed into the valve train . Good luck with your engine

It would never last. It’s a pro mod they drive on the street which is not a street car. No coolant/radiator means it’s a race car and they run a rich enough mixture for short street drives to not overheat.

The engine isn't running- spun by an electric motor. I think the noise is just air moving through the engine, no combustion.

Love the video and info but I would hate to cut a nice set of custom billet valve covers just to make this video ! lol I’m sure that wasn’t a cheap replacement , let alone have to weld them back up and keep using a beat up cover on such a nice engine .. would love to see this video on a turbo ls motor so some of us reg folks can see how much a street strip engine is effected with around .650” lift springs .

About 30yrs ago I was laying block inside of crane cams and heard a dyno making runs, I expressed my interest in it to one of the crane guys and he said he`d walk me down there, It wasn`t a dyno it was a spintron. The noise was really loud, all valve train noise. I believe thats the noise you hear in the in car cameras and not the exhaust sound. They had 3 of them and a Harley one too along with dozens of blocks. I guess comp cams owns them now cause they been gone a long time now

@@totensiebush The engine is a solid block Proline mill. Not a street car. It can do super short drives, but no actual drives for many miles. Drag Week, Sick Week, RMRW etc. demands that you drive between 100-300 miles per day and about 800-1000 miles per week. I like this car and I think it's impressive, but calling it a street car is definitely a stretch.

I know this is a different topic but I believe you will understand and can clarify this for me.I still have a hard time understanding the actual difference between what Measurement of Force HorsePower defines as opposed to What Torque defines. If I were to look at it as HP is the Highest Force reached and Torque is a calculation to do with at what RPM it reaches that Maximum Force, is that how it is calculated? Another way of asking for clarity would be, lets say a Motor has 1000 HP and 800ft.lbs. of Torque. I want the HP to stay the same. What component and/or characteristic do I change to alter just the Torque. What exactly is measured to determine torque? They are both just words given to Identify a particular Force rating. The word HorsePower has a logical reason for the use of that term. Torque confuses me. Way back in 1979 in Auto Class, We were told that the amount of weight and/or load 1 horse could move a certain distance on a loadable/repeatable jig equals 1 HP, did the calculations really start from that method? This R&D with that spinning device shows many things we would never see or understand are happening under all that load. This is ingenuity at its finest. I venture to say what you are doing here is groundbreaking as far as Supertuning. The old rule of thumb is the last 50-100 HP costs as much as where you are now. You are leapfrogging that theory. 2000 or more RPM over the industry standard is something never before seen in this category of engine. The fact that you the Owner and the tuner, are willing to let us see what you have discovered really speaks volumes about your character. Unbelievable video, catching that keeper coming out of socket saved you at least 1 blown engine.

What seems like a straightforward question is actual quite complex, even if the manifold air pressure (MAP accounts for atmospheric pressure also so 60 psi MAP is actually 60 - 14.7 = 45.3 psi boost) remains constant, the cylinder pressure is changing with RPM and that cylinder pressure is working against the face of the valve (whilst ever positive pressure exists) pressing the valve on the seat. Once the inlet valve opens the MAP may have an extremely minor impact at very low valve lift. The a possible problem with this engine, and an issue PRO STOCK went through, is the cylinder pressure is still so high when the exhaust valve tries to open the cam lobe, lifter, pushrod and rocker keep coming but the cylinder pressure is holding the valve closed. This can be minor and only cause minor deflection in the pushrod or it can end up being broken rocker arm or the valve lofting ends up pulling the head off the valve destroying the engine. Spintrons are great for testing the stability of the valve train and are a valuable piece of the puzzle, however, without cylinder pressure, running temperatures and the harmonics created from the rotating assembly, all other accessories and being mounted in the chassis they are not giving a 100% indication of what the running engines experiences.

So, as a guy who can only afford to build $6K-ish race engines, and if you're already having issues at 6500rpm with valvetrain becoming unstable, I wonder what all is going on in my engine and it's valvetrain that could be better? A more stable valvetrain has to equate to more horsepower and a longer lasting engine! Without all of this incredibly high priced equipment, I wonder how a guy might be able to figure this stuff out about his own engines?

Hate to say this, but if your valve train is getting unstable at 6500, you need to talk to someone else about your cam lobe choices and spring selection. I've spun a BBC to 8000 with 2.300 intake valves on hydraulic lifters.

$6500 engines are just as much fun as these dreamer over the top tech deals . If you can afford ti intake valves and a rev kit on top of your roller lifter you probably wont have valvetrain problems . I dont know why rev kits have become obsolete, i love em and run .700 lift on a pump gas sbc for 20 years and replace the springs every 3 years. Hundreds of runs . Im old , what do I know😅

I had valve float before I went with the pack springs with an install height of 2.1 I had 350 seat pressure 1190 open pressure I spun that motor to 8600 all the way down the track from the starting line to the finish line for 12 years only thing I did was James spark plugs and oil so I don't understand why you're trying to reinvent the wheel you just need to get the right products for the job and you guys are expending tons of money to do that

And I didn't use tied on rocker arms like that I just had regular shaft rocker arms on a stud with a stud girdle on my 565 but I did alter one part of my 565 cuz I didn't like going faster than the sticker on my cage with allow so I opened up the orifice on the lifters change the spring in the lifters so if I run a 5:40 oil I never got full lift of my can the car would run a 9.06 ET at 154 mph With my modified roller lifters When I changed the oil to 2050 that's when the cam and the motor came to life That's when I get told by the track officials that if I did the slow down I couldn't run the car anymore until I upgraded my roll cage so I went back to 5:40 oil and waited for the day some joker wanted to put money down saying his car was faster than mine I just changed the oil and collect the money

@@kensmechanicalaffair I have seen 7200, with a flat tappet hydraulic cam. Same engine runs 6500 flat out. But watching the valvetrain work better with less spring pressure has me thinking. I definitely want to look at shaft mounted rockers for a small block Chevy setup. I may even look at solid rollers for 8000rpm street operation. Back in the day small cubic inch engines were running to 7500rpms, with solid flat tappet cams. No reason with new stuff we should not be able to get the high rpm’s wind a good hydraulic roller or solid roller.

@@kensmechanicalaffair circle track engines do this all the time with basically stock internals, good clearances, hyper pistons, flat tappet cams. Mine is nothing fancy: Cast pistons, stock rods, polished cast crank, it’s a mid 70’s .060 over, 4 bolt block, I’ve freshens this thing up three times. Clevite bearings, speed pro moly rings. Clearances are almost perfect, almost because it’s just a little to the loose side. Still in spec. Any stock internally balanced small block can handle rpm’s with the right attention to detail and the right valve train and valve springs. Now the 2.02/1.60 valve 882 heads with screw in studs and guide plates are ported to a 1206 gasket and I took out plenty of material. Guess they flow alright for this combo. It’s just a fun engine. If I build something with a good aftermarket rotating assembly, some big darts, and serious valve train, I would be dangerous. We shall see.

What are bore/stroke? 640 is pretty tiny for a 5.3 bore spacing, obviously TT rather than nitrous but since 900+ is common for nitrous I'd have expected at least well into the 700 range.
