Yeah I stopped watching when I noticed the pandering to "sad stories" disabilities and REALLY bad voices/acts. It was a clown show and cringey to watch. I made that comment to people a LONG time ago and got bashed for being unfeeling, jealous and just downright mean/rude. Whatever... it was (indeed) a MOSTLY cringy show to watch.

Yes, the producers of the tv talent shows have a very tight control of the whole process. I worked with a guy whose nephew was a contender on The Voice. The contestants on that show don't have any control over which songs to sing. They basically become puppets for the producers, just like the celebrity judges. Really, that's the way it is across the entertainment industry. You really do sell your soul.

My friend's son was on a reality show called "Off the Grid". The whole thing was a joke. The producers picked a spot in my friend's yard to construct the house and filmed so that it looked like they were way out in the woods. They also decided that the son should pretend that he suffered a knee injury which threatens their ability to finish the project on time. As part of the contract for the show, the son had an incentive clause that paid more money if the house was finished ahead of schedule. The son was lagging behind, so my friend ended up hiring local contractors to finish the work so that the son would get his bonus.

Most people don't seem to realize these reality and competition shows are highly edited and many times scripted. It's why I lost interest in AGT. I can see through the B.S. cuts they make and the drama they prop up. I knew someone who sang on AGT and even though the crowd loved it, Simon asked them to sing a completely different song and at the end song, he said it was the wrong song choice and cut him for the song he was told to sing. Glad Kvon now has proof to show how fake these shows really are. Keep going Kvon, make your own destiny!!

I found it entertaining when people used to think that shows like American Idol actually counted America's vote. The producers decided who was most marketable and only used the voting to get hundreds of thousands of dollars in text charges for the phone carriers (before texting became a free included thing).
