It's a nice tour, worth seeing, not too far from I 95. With reference to the significance of this structure I believe it is worth saving. When Richmond fell near the close of the war, Abe Lincoln came up the James river and visited the city which was about completely destroyed. He toured the house and went into Jeff Davis office and sat behind desk. He reflected on that moment. I don't know what was on his mind but after a few minutes he was back out on the side walk. A Union troop ran up the president asked if he wanted the place burned to the ground. LIncoln answered no, leave it to posterity. Thank you Mr President for saving the place as a reminder of our HISTORY, not racism, not supremacy, not for privilege, for our HISTORY.

Imagine if the white house of the confederacy comes back to life, and we have a new president and the Confederate States of America back. I hope to see that one day!

Tennessee Volunteers got the name for volunteering along with Andrew Jackson to go fight in the battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. Yes, East Tennessee was pro-Union but that is not where the nickname "Volunteers" came from.

@@FirstLast-di5sr I respect a man who fights or even dies for what he believes in . Doesn't matter if I think he is right or wrong. You will not find many men today that will do that.
Why ? It's a great looking home . A piece of history.

@@deanclark7747 Probably an ignorant person. Neo-Marxists have preyed on the minds of the unaware for the purpose of cultural destruction. It won't end with the Confederates.

The US. now is too large and diverse. I wish the Confederacy had been successful. We would have two sister nations each as allies. Research it yourself. It wasn't mainly about slavery. Poor white people would not have fought so rich people could have slaves. My comment is intended to be polite. Yes, I'm a Southerner. Good video.

They might not have had slaves, but they did fight to preserve slavery.

It's obviously a good thing that the South/confederacy lost.

Poor white southerners would have had as little say in the causes they would fight for as poor white northerners. The average Yankee didn't own a rail road,a bank, an iron works, a ship building company, or a factory. Yet those interests would dominate Washington the same way planter elites and slave owners dominated the politics of Richmond.

What? So many people wanted an end to slavery that southerners from the Appalachian Mountains actually left Tennessee to fight for the Union. Hence, the name Tennessee Volunteers.
@davidstooksbury88355 жыл бұрын
Tennessee volunteers term actual was from the war of 1812. Please learn your history. There is a plaque on the old Kingston courthouse that can attest to that.

but I think to all that what happen I think they may very well close the Confederate White House of President Jefferson Davis for good and forever,
@FirstLast-di5sr4 жыл бұрын
Unlikely, it's a museum and actually a historical site. All the statues etc coming down were built long after the war to glorify the "lost cause" (of slavery). Also, that flag is a Battle flag, not the actual confederate flag.
@georgekenney81214 жыл бұрын
but if you ask me I think they will in the end close it,
@f2504by44 жыл бұрын
Why should it be closed? Simply because it is at the present time an unpleasant memory? It is part of our history to be remembered for the time it represented and preserved for the future generations to know.
@deanclark77472 жыл бұрын
Why would you want that? Why would you want to erase history like that? Like the old saying go you forger it it will repeat itself.. off topic now. I find it strange. That black people or whites that disagree with the confederace. Want to erase that in history. But I've never heard the Jews wanting to erase their history of how the Nazi's treated them.
