@@michael-dy8tz It didn’t take much to get on the show. We went on Saturday mornings and they would tape three shows in succession. Dick Clark was cool and we got to see some neat entertainers. Living in the Los Angeles area, well these were things we did, if not at the beach.
@michael-dy8tz Жыл бұрын
@@24Mossberg Yeah, I read they were looking for lots of teenagers, sometimes I wish I would have lived there back in the 60s when things were cool and times were good, that is exciting that you were on TV and on American Bandstand. I'm a professional guitarist and singer, too old now to get on a show but I'm curious, did the bands on there lipsync, pretend to play, it's OK and a common practice because they use the studio sound on TV, it sounds better, so did they lipsync and when you were dancing did you know the band wasn't playing and you were dancing to a recorded track?
@24Mossberg Жыл бұрын
@@michael-dy8tz lip sync…no actual playing when I was there.

@@24Mossberg Thanks Mossberg, I figured but it must be that way but it was good you actually saw and maybe met the bands. Lucky you. Thanks for the reply!

I turned 15 in '68. "Incense and Peppermints" hit number one the year before. Huge hit. I don't remember this track. I guess Clark was talking of this record being the third for the 'producers'. It was the second record for SAC. This one only got to 23 on Billboard.

I think the TV Show: "Laugh-In" played this SAC hit, with its video, on it's first episode in 1968. They (the band members) were driving their cars on a L.A. interstate and got into mischief, or something like that, as l remember. (This is Tom, not Sandra.)

i have a question( everyone forgive me if its been asked before) were these episodes in 1968 in color?
@YCDTI2 жыл бұрын
It’s a good question that comes up frequently. Episodes were taped in color starting on Sept. 1967. Due to the expense of the color tapes, they taped over most of them. Fortunately we at least have some of these kinescopes filmed in b&w.

'and buildings to the sky... that make us wonder why'. I suspected that may have been a lame lyric even in 1968.

Actually, the lyrics were 'and buildings to the sky... that make us want to fly' People who took LSD thought they COULD fly by diving off tall buildings thinking they were going to fly.
