I can respect the idea behind American bullies. Folks wanted a more laid-back bulldog and something akin to a designer breed. These dogs get some hate from fanciers of working bulldogs like the American pit bulldog, but I think we should understand that they are an entirely different beast. I'm a fancier of the original working bulldogs myself, but they are not for everyone. In fact, most folks seem to not be the best match for a game-bred bulldog. Some folks want a bulldog with less go and more show. Nothing wrong with that. I'd rather someone get a dog they can manage instead of getting a dog with drive and athleticism that they cannot manage and end up in trouble or are force to get rid of the dog. Some folks talk about the these bullies being too bulky, and I can understand that, but that is what their fanciers like. It also helps to better distinguish them from the lean, agile working bulldogs so that people are less likely to confuse the two.

Taco Salesman you are mixing some stuff up. The original bull and terrier became the APBT. Who also were called bulldogs from the dogman who created them who were successful. American bullies definitely fall in the bulldog category. Depending on category of American Bully they have more of what today we would call traditional bulldog blood in them. The whole point of the American Bully originally was to create a bullier APBT/amstaff.

Benjamin Duran most people prefer a loving pet and that’s what you get from these dogs. I have two and I walk and run with them all the time. I can’t take them on hikes but they’ve both been walked and ran up to 5 miles plenty of times. As long as the dog is hydrated he’ll be fine. The ones that die are the ones that have Bulldog heavy in the bloodline. The Exotics that shouldn’t even be considered American Bully. This dog is far from that. Trust me I know where your going and in some circumstances you’re 100% correct. This isn’t one of them though.

American Bullies are a developing breed, you have to start somewhere to fix issues, dogs have longer lives than a rat or hamster so it takes longer to fix or change anything in the breed. Most do have issues and this dog is honestly one of the best looking bullies. Dobermans were called a Frankenstein dog because it was cross bred so many times but now it is one of the most majestic dog breeds and has it’s own standard. I personally think that the reason the American bully is considered a breed by the akc is to document a extra sturdy history of the breed witch has seemed to have backfired. I think the akc needs to start a better standard for this breed because they allow so many ill bred or mixes into the standard that they cause so many people to think the breed is actually a mess or aggressive.

She's right, they did change the look of the Am. Bully. Originally the Am. Bully was intended to be an apbt/Am. Staff type of dog with less drive and more bone and substance than the apbt and the AST while retaining the features of the apbt and ast on a larger but more compact frame (Prats king kamaly, Suarez bulls checkmate, RE. Short shot etc) now they look more like bulldogs and mastiff.....

I have no issue with companion breeds: most people can't handle a high drive, athletic dog. However I do have an issue with people making breeding decisions that create structural health issues. This dog is not balanced in it's build, and it won't take long before you see issues with spine (ask Dachshund owners) or with the huge head making it impossible to give birth naturally (as with English Bulldogs). Stop breeding for extreme and aim for balance instead.

Ckri Gill what’s not deformed about it. The thing can’t breathe, to short with to much weight so joint problems are inevitable. Health in a dog should be number one no matter the breed however that doesn’t seem to be that case with many breeders. American bullies are nothing but expensive Mongrel's and aren’t even a recognised breed in the uk.

atleast they have better breathing than the English bulldog if we look at it that way😅 Love your random breeds❤️ Got some Jrt's myself, labs, one staff mix and a cavalier I made a promise to an old lady that sadly has passed away to take care of her dog. Not my favorite breed, but a very good personality❤️

@@mwheele78 American bulldog the original bully and they hold they own. And my boy is 6 and very happy. My pit mix is very energetic and that's why I walk her a mile or 2 longer then my bulldog

I love all the hate in this comment section. You know this channel was built on this breed. Also all the crap you are saying can be said about almost half the breeds in the world.
