I think its a "create a problem, sell a solution" in our capitalist society. Soon it will get so bad, that a solution will be sold to the public via policy and new laws...thats how it always works. take food away from people, make them starve then sell them back their food in morsels with an inflated price.

You realize that actually happens in American cities as well right? Or that plenty of school districts actually use public transit vouchers instead of private bussing because it’s far more efficient? No of course you don’t. You don’t live anywhere near a city with public transit infrastructure and you just go by what you THINK must happen, even if it’s far removed from reality.

I just got off the Metro Bus in LA. The line 720 to Westwood. There was a crazy homeless man talking aggressively to himself and while most of the passengers just ignored him. I was less than 2 feet away. He then proceeded to take out a foil, torch lighter and a tube and smoked what looks like fentanyl or meth. And yes there were children sitting near by and no one did anything. I was worried about my safety too. I just got off the bus and decided to walk the rest of the way. This is not the first time I’ve seen this on the bus. And reporting it to the driver does nothing. The best they can do is stop the bus and call the cops and the response time takes too long. It’s not just safely it’s the lack of enforcement. The smell, the unsanitary conditions, the overcrowding and I see that most people don’t pay the fares. They just go to the back and wait for the doors to open and they sneak on. The bus driver can’t do anything. Public transportation is so different in Korea or Japan. The main reason is because they don’t allow the homeless on the bus and they enforce fares.

@@daryoushsameyah8329 Incorrect. LA decreased the police budget by 7% because of attrition. In other words, the entire budget for the decrease came from matching how much the police department lost in personnel. That 7% was then allocated to police-adjacent services, such as gang violence reduction efforts and mental health outreach around criminal behavior (all of which ultimately helps the police). It was *spun* as straight defunding by certain media. This is why the proposal for this year reverses that almost entirely, as it accounts for a hiring increase / recruiting effort.

The biggest problem, at least here in New York, is that we have too many repeat offenders being released back onto the streets. The amount of times that I've heard on the news of a person with 13 prior arrests who violently assaulted an innocent person being released without bail is more than I can count. The State's bail laws have exacerbated the issue, but the city's DAs are also not blameless.

When most Americans see a video about trouble on public transportation, they think, "I'm sure glad that I never take public transportation, and never will." When most Americans see a video about trouble involving vehicles, they think...nothing. (0:17) Should that incident also dampen our enthusiasm for owning vehicles? 🧐🤔

I take LA Metro. Bus, Train, Metrolink, I rode it. A LOT of people dont pay their fare, and the trains are packed with homeless and crazy people. The "Ambassadors" (in green neon shirts) are USELESS, and don't do squat. It will get and ALWAYS gets far worse in the summer when tourist season kicks in.

The bus operator is right..they have to manage the safety of everyone around them...more officer support is needed for all systems...it used to be interesting to have the different musicians come around & play (NYC) but it's gotten so bad this can't happen anymore...and as expensive it's become riding public transit the money is not adding up to the product quality

When I lived in New York before moving out in 1988. I use to take the trains and busses all over. I would read my book with no problems. It boggles my mind that in this video with all the violence going on people are reading and using their phones. We all need to practice situational awareness these days even while walking in the streets. 🤦🏽‍♀️
