Glass bottles... we use to get 1Ltre in glass bottles.then it was the 700ml, Both have been discontinued as far as i know, only way of getting coke in glass bottle is the 350ml which isnt really enough.

@@stabrio78 When I was young, we still got milk delivered in glass bottles, regional aus thing, and honestly, I'm not sure if my taste buds changed or something but the milk from glass bottles tasted more watery than that from plastic bottles, I find milk richer and creamer, and therefore better these days than I did back then, I only ever had milk on cereal when I was a kid (6-10ish) now a days, I find myself just having a glass of milk from a plastic milk bottle whenever I feel like a drink that's not water or fizzy.

Last time I was in America I did something silly….. in Australia a “large” meal from a fast food outlet comes with a decent and amount of chips and drink. About 600ml roughly. I ordered a meal from Wendy’s and the asked me if I wanted regular or large and I looked at them funny and said “large, of course”. The next thing I knew I was holding a BUCKET of Dr Pepper, gobsmacked….it took me two days to drink it all!

The reason you get dodgy Corn Syrup in your Coke (and everything else) is because there are massive government subsidies on corn production that actually makes it cheaper than sugar, whereas here in Australia, sugar cane is the cheapest, most practical option. I did read why the corn was subsidised, but can't remember the reason off hand.

I worked for Coke and the reason glass bottled coke tastes better is because it is a different mix. It is restaurant or pub/bar coke. Like the old school small cans it is stronger because it is made to be mixed with spirits.

The best Aussie coke was way back in the 70'swhen it came in steel cans with the ring pulls. Had a real bite to it. When they changed it to aluminium it was (and still is) woeful in comparison. Totally lost its bite. The glass bottles are the way to go these days.

They did some scientific research into this a few years ago. Apparently plastic is permeable to CO2, meaning less fizz, and the lining they use on the plastic actually bleeds some of that "plastic" into the drink.

They brought out the 2lt plastic bottle in 78 but the old classic glass 1lt bottle was still around well into the 80's. I installed the glass bottle conveyors in the adelaide coke factory for a company I was working for in around 2005 when they brought back the small glass bottle again

The Australian glass bottled coke is pretty similar to the Mexican glass bottle one, to the point where I'd probably not be able to pick them on a blind taste test. The US one is definitely the worst coke I've tried from 7 or so countries, though (all of those other countries used cane sugar).

Glass doesn't have the chemicals that are released from plastic (plastic is made from polyethylene) from the acidity of the coke, glass is always better with any beverage anyways (water, pop, milk, etc.)

Cane sugar (glucose) - your body produces a chemical\hormone that makes you feel full. Corn Syrup (fructose) - more calories and your body doesn't produce the chemical\hormone to make you feel full. So you will consume more (bigger consumer\spender) if the product is sweetened with fructose. Love your channel, your family is beautiful!

I lived in Kazakstan for a few years. The locally bottled Coke there was not radically different to Aussie Coke. However, all the Americans I worked with used to say it was way better than what they were used to. We couldn’t get anything but the classic Coke there, so we would go to the market and buy bottles of cherry juice to mix our own Cherry Coke which was definitely better than the original because the cherry flavour was authentic 🍒

We had a campaign years ago which claimed " Good things come in glass" and I remember milk in glass bottles which had a thin layer of cream at the top and small bottles of milk which we were given in school. Things definitely taste better in glass.

When I was a kid, there was a Coca Cola factory/plant, in my home town of Wauchope NSW. They produced the original glass bottle coke. It was across the road from my Primary school (known as Elementary school in the US). I have great memories of the Coca Cola yo-yo competitions they held there for the school kids. They also had visiting champion trick yo-yo folk there from time to time. Sadly the factory is long gone. It closed in the early 1970's. Most of the Australian Coca Cola is now made at factories located in Northmead (NSW), North Sydney (NSW), Richlands (Qld), Moorabbin (Vic) and Hazelmere (WA).

That's the one that I avoid (it's in coke & most other brands). I only buy one's containing no. 950, 952 or 961. I have never bought any caffeine free drinks.

You can get Aussie coke in 300ml Glass bottles. When I was a kid, they came in 1 Litre Glass, and 500ml glass, but people would just constantly smash glass bottles all over the place so they embraced plastic. The 300ml ones you don't get at Gas/Petrol stations or Convenience Stores, they are in 4 packs in the Supermarket, this also reduces people buy them then smashing them while not at home. I have also had Mexican Coke and it's good.

Been a life long Coke drinker, Our coke here in Australia tastes different in different states of Australia,, I put that down to the water they use in the processing .. Our coke here has been changed several times over the decades to be closer to Pepsi in taste ..The Original Coke I knew and loved from the 60's up till the early 80's was way way better than the stuff we get now .. Ice cold frosty Coke out of a can or Glass bottle is the only way to drink it .. You should try a Vodka coke Spider ..[ Ice cream soda ] ..In a 500ml tankard, slush puppy two or three scoops of Vanilla ice cream add 4 nips of Vodka [ mix ] then add four big scoops of ice cream and drizzle a can of Coke [ Mexican coke for you ] over them and spoon the froth off and eat it / drink it through a straw .. This is a nice dessert drink after BBQ Steak or fried Seafood ..

Years ago the company i worked for were doing a job at the sydney coke factory. One of the boys went to kfc up the street and got a meal deal. Kfc do pepsi. One of the coke execs marched that bloke to the kitchen and made him pour his pepsi down the drain. I laughed when i heard that story. Dunno if it still is, but for a time the coke factory near my house was the largest factory building in the southern hemisphere.

A lot of Australia is under sugar cane. My ex wife was from the Northern Rivers, near Byron Bay (QLD/NSW border lands), and it sugar cane all over. That's why Beenleigh and Bundaberg in QLD have rum distilleries. There's a bloke gets around craftmarkets and he has a sugar cane crushing machine. I don’t know about you, I rarely drink coke or Pepsi any more. I grew up with Coke in Australia, back then when you poured Coke, the bubbles were brown. The brown bubbles stopped, I think, in the 1970s. Funny thing is, I can replicate the taste from back then by mixing my own using syrups I can buy, I only do it if we have a family function, no one comments when I do, but they comment when I don’t.
