I'm playing this piece right now in band and every single time it gets to the Trumpet solo I cry every single time My band Director say that if we connect to the piece we will all realize how important this was and we will get the crowd to get attached to the song... Our high school band is attached to this song...

I played this for a high school honors band piece earlier this year. I had never heard of the Columbine shooting, before this playing this piece. I became emotionally attached to this piece, and it is one of my favorite pieces. Its a heart wrenching piece. But is absolutely gorgeous. I love how Tichelli not only wrote Columbine High Schools Alma Matter, but incorporated it into this piece. Stunning.

i havent played this song since my junior or senior year in high school but every time i do play it it just takes me back to the columbine shooting, Earnhardt Seniors death, losing my dad, 9/11, losing a cousin, losing an uncle and now the death of my boss. My favorite part is the Alto sax and french horn part when they are in unison.
