Thanks for the comparison. A couple of things that came to mind that I think are worth mentioning: 1) With the Scotia AMEX, the $120 annual fee can be waived depending on your bank account type. Could be good for those who are looking for a convenient all in one banking solution with Scotia. 2) The MR points CAN be worth up to 10% assuming you actually redeem them for points that give you the 2%. What if one doesn't fly or choses not to fly with Air Canada for example?

Aeroplan points work with tons of airlines.

@@charliedoucette2249 Yeah true but the flights are even more limiting. This would be especially true for people who have families or are flying with a partner. May not be worth it in instances like that.

I never got more than 1.2cpp to my destinations. And I won’t flight business. I don’t care nor want to rack 200k+ points for just one ticket.

I got the Wealthsimple card thanks to your videos 🙏👍 Just wondering if it’s safe using the card everywhere? since I assume it’s a debit card which people tell me that credit cards are safer to use in case someone starts buying thing with your card without you knowing you won’t be held liable.

I never had problems with Wealthsimple card, i usually use it at canada costco or outside the country

You can also create separate cash accounts to separate the funds (e.g. one for chequing and one for savings). I am also wondering if you can turn off tap so it’s insert only like a debit card.

Great content as usual, I have both cards and use the Amex gold in the US (as the currency is already US so there are no extra fees on top of the 2.5% which is waived) and when I shop at FreshCo or Safeways and the cobalt for daily purchases. I have been using the Home trust visa for non US foreign exchange but the rewards are 0 to very minimal so I’m looking for another non non Amex card that is NOT the passport visa for other NON US foreign exchange use that waives the fee now that Brim ruined their card. I hear the Amazon card credits foreign exchange fees to you account if you have an Amazon prime account. Any truth to this? I have the card but never used it for anything other than Amazon purchases. To boot it’s a Mastercard.

For Amazon specifically, Cobalt using 5x at grocery stores to get Amazon gift cards.

Unless you want the extended guarantee provided by a credit card, I'd say Amazon gift cards purchased in a Grocery store with the 5X multiplier of the Cobalt is hard to beat.

I am just back from a trip to South East Asia and I was sad to have no more card with no foreign exchange fee in my wallet (since my Brim card has become useless) But overall, my Cobalt was a nice to have. I got the 5X multiplier in a few restaurants and for the airport food in Changi and Narita + the 7-Eleven expenses. And I got the 2X multiplier (before the october downgrade) on many travel expenses with the Klook App in HK (Disney, Ngong Ping and Victoria Peak) So overall getting 10% or 4% cashback + the klook discounts was really nice although i paid the 2.5% conversion fee.

would you recommend getting the amex green card first or amex simply cash card first, if i am going to apply for the cobalt card in the future
@t1mlocasАй бұрын
Why not applying for the Cobalt directly ?

@@t1mlocas I don't think cobalt bonus points are enough to attract some people apply now. Why not just get all the points possible 😂. I had a cibc card, then a year they increased bonus points 😂 for sign up card.

Just get GCR for other cashback. It’s always there!
