For a more authentic Iraqi pilot experience: try throwing a few dozen extra F-15C's, F-16's, F-14A's, F/A18's with AWACS. You can even throw in some Saudi and British Tornado's, French Mirage's and I think a few countries ran with F-5's. You can really get that coalition feeling going. But you still only get one F-1. Just one. Your wingman called yesterday. When you asked where he was, he said "I ran." You asked where to. He said "Iran". To which you said, "Yeah, I know, but where?" To which he said "Iran"! And the ensuing conversation would go down in the annals of comedy history as the greatest variation of "Who's On First" since Abbot and Costello first brought it to audiences. Nonetheless, wherever he ran off to, it isn't covering your six.

If there's an EF-111 mod, you can do that early Desert Storm mission where the Raven got chased by a Mirage, but managed to bait the bandit into a maneuvering kill on the deck when an Eagle locked up the Mirage. Maybe the Tomcat could be a stand-in? Both were variable-wing aircraft.

Always found it funny the F-111 which was deem not maneuverable enough by the navy is credited with a maneuvering kill in actual combat. Its low level, high speed night capability was very impressive!!!

@@williamkillingsworth2619 It wasn't airborne maneuverability that made the navy reject it. It's because the F-111B was severely overweight for the navy's requirements (i.e. excessive strain on the catapult getting the F-111B's fat ass into the air and landings didn't do the equipment any favors either). And the F-111 really was a heavy-ass plane: the F-111A had a max takeoff weight of 100,000 lbs while the F-14's max takeoff weight is just under 75,000 lbs. Also, the Iraqi air force dude got locked up and probably freaked out trying to break the lock. Now the F-111 was amazing for what it was originally designed for: long range, low altitude, deep strike missions (basically replacing the F-105), but a fleet defense interceptor has an almost completely different set of required characteristics for the airframe.

There’s an F1EQ-6 on display in France at the Air and Space Conservatory of Aquitaine, so Aerges wouldn’t even have to go to Iran to scan and model a real EQ. The EQ-6 was the one that could carry two AM39 Exocets. A genuine EQ with the full multirole and anti-ship ability would bring a whole new aspect to the already brilliantly fun F1 module. Oh and the Cyrano IVQ/C5 radar.

@@zaidedward2251 well you’re in for a treat my friend. I messaged Aerges, telling them that there was an F1EQ-6 on display in France. Their response? “Thank you for the information, Rhys. Yes, we’ll probably do that (make the EQ) in the future.” I let them know it was in France, because that could very well be the deciding factor. If there wasn’t one in France (or anywhere else in Europe), they would need to go to Iran, where they are probably not welcomed to fiddle around with their fighters.

There’s a detailed history channel piece on that mirage that was manoeuvre killed. Before engaging the raven, he engaged an F15 firing all his missiles before being able to break away and chase the raven

I have always wondered about the modern-day mindset of a pilot possibly going up against a F-15. They could be in something "better" than a F-15. Maybe. Not by much, but lets give him that. So how confident can you honestly be against an aircraft that has zapped the previous 105 guys in your position?

man that was quite one sided. both are a couple of my favorite aircraft from a design standpoint, but the difference in tech was pretty surprising. I'd love to see the EF Typhoon vs the Raphael vs the F22/35 and you could even throw the Felon in there. Also if the F104, F106, F100 are available those could be interesting. After seeing your Mig 21 vs F4, a F105 vs Mig 17/21 also would be cool. good vid!

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

Remember kids. The moment you are forced defensive against an Eagle after firing your first shot, you're done. That Eagle is going to keep on trucking and spamming from on high. Had that Eagle been packing Fox threes, this fight would've been over in thirty seconds or less. You should put the Mirage F-1 on the receiving end of a fox three fight. It would be quite the comedy to watch.
