It'll be because he was brought up more on NFL, which involves a much more natural passing position - as in, with hands, so it doesn't need as much focus put into it - which causes his subconscious to want to look where the ball is being played to like what is needed in NFL. Do you look at the ball in a throw in, or do you look where you are playing the ball to? Same with GK throws.

I have been watching you when you are kicking the ball on goal. Here is a tip for beginners. If you lean back when you kick the ball it is going to go high. If you lean forward the ball is going to go low.

Trent is basically the modern day Beckham, unbelievable delivery from out wide. He became Liverpool's most dangerous playmaker playing from right back, which is crazy, no other player plays the position like him. As others have said though, he can be exposed defensively, especially this season he's had plenty of embarrassing defensive lapses. Going forward though he is unique in the world

I’ve always said the same thing about him. If he played in Beckham’s time he definitely wouldn’t be a right back, he’d be a wide midfielder, nowadays as the 4-4-2 is barely used anymore the full backs basically act as wide midfielders

As far as shooting/passing the ball it's the same as throwing. It's all about your plant foot and body postioning. The ball doesn't go where your eyes or head aim. Start aiming with the toe of your plant foot. It works for inside the foot passing or shooting using the laces on your boot. The main reasons I requested this was because of that quick corner. That was what gave them the final goal in the 4-0 win against Barcelona. The goal directly afterwards as well was a last ditch effort where we sent our goalie forward. Trent sent him the ball and he scored a header. Landed us 4th place in the league which is significant because top 4 get to play in the Champions league the following season. I didn't cry.

3:00 It’s best to scan and identify where you’re teammate is before receiving the ball or making your passing decision, so when you then receive the ball you already know where to play it and can therefore only look at the ball to focus on striking it with quality and as accurate as possible. Same goes with when you shoot/finish on goal; you identify where the goal’s at first, the go back to focus on striking the ball with accuracy, looking down on it.

A little tip for you. Start playing against a wall. That would give you more inside foot control when the ball comes back to you plus tapping the ball.and after a while you'll be able to start using the outside of your feet..plus you won't have to run after the ball every time you miss the goal..Good luck

In basketball or american football you look where want to pass because you pass with your arms. In football most shots and long passes you look at the ball at the last moment to make sure you hit the ball in the right place. You spot your target amd turn your look down to the ball when you put weight on your standing foot.

FYI, the thing that was special about corner he took quickly wasnt anything to do with him seeing his teamate was onside. You can't be offside from a corner because the ball is played backwards. What was special was how he caught the opposing team's defense napping, it shows how alert he is and always looking for a killer pass.

As an ex footballer, first you look at where you want to pass to, but then you must look at your boot as it strikes the ball, or you will probably mis- hit it. It's the same with snooker, except its a cue striking the ball.

I think what many here are missing here is that in american football or basketball indeed you can keep you eyes on the target when throwing the ball because you maintain constant contact with the ball. That's one less thing in the equation to be worried about and you can keep focus on the aim/target. In football it's a good idea to keep your eyes on the ball while kicking it. Many footballers first look to make a mental note of the field, their target, etc. They then focus on the ball so that the quality of the shot is maximized, so they plant their supporting foot correctly, hit the ball on the right spot, etc. (Actually same goes for many other ball sports.. e.g. in any racket sport (and I'm assuming baseball as well, but I have no experience with that) they teach you to always keep your eyes on the ball when hitting it. ) Many elite footballers do it differently though, but that's just because of their high levels of awareness and skill. There's a video (or video series) with (prime) Ronaldo taking part in some experiments (very interesting, definitely worth a watch), where they test many of his physical and technical skills. One of those experiments was about his awareness. They shot some corners or free kicks in his general direction and immediately cut the light after the shot (one time even before the shot). Incredibly, it didn't really matter since from the moment the ball left Ronaldo already had a perfect trajectory laid out in his mind of where the ball will land and how to take the shot. When you want to.kick the ball hard make sure you are leaning forward with your knee over the ball as you strike it with your instep. And follow through the ball.

A glance at the goal, or intended target for a pass then look down at the ball, while choosing the type of strike to put on the ball. Either side foot, instep, inside or outside of the foot to achieve the desired effect.

Your analysis is spot on. Everthing happens at the contact, the ball’s fate is decided at contact. if that is in your head, why would you look anywhere else ? (Unless you want to fool the opponent with a no-look pass/shot)

The amazingly clever thing there is that they had the permission to take the corner, but it looks like Alexander-Arnold walks away to let Shaqiri take the corner. You can see walking there, when Trent suddenly goes back and takes the corner, taking everyone unawares. Including Shaqiri I think :D

You should look at the football during a shot or a long pass. In some time you will get the feel for the ball and you will know where the ball is going immediately intuitively right after contact. You shouldn't look only when dribbling if you are skilled enough (99% of people really isn't me included) so look mostly at the ball and just glance at the field and around so can fake a defender just with a look and a faint. That also makes good peripheral vision a benefit. PS.: Try experimenting with where you put the weight with relation to the ball. Always have the plant foot at the same spot just lean forward to shoot low and lean backwards to shoot high. Also side foot shot and pass is the key for everything

Just so you know, it's actually impossible to be offside from a corner kick because if you think about it, the corner is further up the field than any other player could be, so a corner kick is a backwards pass.

Trent is the ignition for the Egyptian Prescription! (I love watching Mo Salah play). Stoked that you see it. But kind of knew that you would. EDIT: Oh, and think of the ball as divided into four quadrants when you approach it. Which one you strike has a bit to play into where the thing will go. Can't find a link at the moment, but basically - top right, bottom right, top left, bottom left. Don't try to curve it yet..just give it a try when you practice, and notice what it does. When I was learning play football, I've been told to "date" the ball. All eyes on her while we're together. You already have a picture of the goal. Once you are familiar with the field, you don't need to look at It for too long. Instead, focus on how you'll touch the ball. This is for shooting lessons, especially free kicks.

Try checking out Michael Laudrup imo the best passes in history of the game. And one of the best players trough the 80s and 90s a true gentleman of the sport never got sent off and made very few fouls trough his career. i would suggest the video "Michael Laudrup... Liverpools defensive problems are a lot more to do with the midfield than Trent. He has a much more attack focused role, he does exactly what hes told to do so when he does "get caught out" its not really on him, its on the player whose supposed to cover him when hes advanced towards the attacking line.
