If you noticed in old korean shows, the hosts will always encourage the groups to enjoy and just don't care about their image when in their shows, I noticed that when I saw snsd's Intimate Note when Yoona was so quite then one of the host told her "Are you protecting you image? Why aren't you saying anything?". They give their all when it comes to entertainment. As for the fans, they definitely wanted to see their idols in a relatable situation too that's why there not alot of bashing when it comes to goofy and savage moments in shows. Second generation groups are so fun to watch, I missed them

It's because they're so experienced and are seniors in the industry, so they can get away with more. Their careers are established and stable, and they're good friends with all the other entertainers on shows. They can even talk about getting plastic surgery or their s*x lives and because they're in their 30s, this is more acceptable than when someone in their 20s says it. This honesty is what makes them so entertaining tbh, I know it's not the younger gens' fault but being so stiff and saying only premeditated lines is boring to watch. I can count on one hand the number of 3rd gen groups that are fun to watch and I can't think of any 4th gen groups that are truly entertaining.
