Half ounce is a better and more affordable choice than a full ounce for many people. The $10 pre-33 Eagle was about half an ounce, and was the original full-sized American gold coin. The Double Eagle only came later, near the start of the 1840s gold rush in the US.

I'm a budget stacker so I primarily stack silver, but I own 3 ounces in fractional gold. A full ounce of gold is way out of my reach, so Gold Buffalos are a no-go for me. If I get a huge bonus from work or a cash prize, that may change things, but let's be realistic here... The only reason I don't buy gold buffalos is because they're too expensive. So for me, it's fractional eagles or only stack silver & and I only have so much storage left,
@jmo825924 ай бұрын
You say you are running out of storage buying silver? Because you can't buy 1oz gold? Have i got that right? It's almost like if you had just bought less gold, you would not have a storage problem.
@dukenukemani074 ай бұрын
@@jmo82592 No, you silly thing! I only said I only have so much storage. I didn't say I was running out. Also, consider this: Gold takes up less space. A quarter-ounce gold eagle is similar value to a tube of 20 silver eagles (I have a dozen tubes full), but is only the size of a nickel. A tenth-ounce gold eagle is similar value to a 10oz silver bar (Yes, I have those too), but is only the size of a dime. I use tubes, not capsules to maximize my available storage. 22K gold is not as soft as 24K gold so it doesn't need a capsule if you're careful with handling, so using tubes takes less space and is much cheaper overall. Take this into consideration. 👍
@jmo825924 ай бұрын
@dukenukemani07 I'm curious.Would you consider buying an ounce of gold for $ 2800 right now? Because that's what you're looking at for 1/10 gold eagles.
@dukenukemani074 ай бұрын
@@jmo82592 That's irrelevant. Premiums don't matter when the most you can afford at any given time is less than $1,000. If I had saved up for a full ounce, then I would've paid far more because I bought my fractional AGE's during dips and most of them when gold was less than $2000/oz. Premiums are a distraction for anyone who's on a budget. If you can afford $2500 in one transaction, then go for it. For others like me, that's just not doable. And please don't give a lecture about about saving money for a full ounce. We're all adults and our "schooling days" are long over.

Brother, you have a knack for putting out the videos I need. We recently had a conversation and you kind of convinced me to start stacking gold. I already have more than enough silver. I decided I'm only going to stack American gold. Just ordered my first 2 1/4 oz eagles. My goal for the end of the year is 3 oz. I want a buffalo before the end of the year, but next year I'm going to save up for 5 eagles from Costco (their limit). As always, thanks for the great content!

Great video! Next to me is a wooden cigar box containing Morgans, 1/4 and 1/10 gold eagles, a CD paying an incredible amount of interest that I cannot understand, and a Gl0ck that I will probably lose while fishing tomorrow. I work for a charity, and have to be very careful with my money. In my opinion, some gold purchased now is better than more gold purchased later. Having said that, I can't wait to afford a Buffalo.

Very nice video and also informative:) I'm in a situation where I'm not wealthy which is a blessing and a curse in the sense that I just can't really stack gold, so I collect a coin I like here and there. After saving very long for some ounces and a few 1/4 ish coins an eagle a French and German coin and an English sovereign, I jus saved for my first 1/10 the Spanish lynx. This is why I'm drawn to save for a 1/2 American eagle because it seems like a slightly bigger coin well its 2 times a 1/4 so plus it will add a new size of fun variety to my small stack. I like all the American coins tbh but only have the 1/4 American eagle so far. So I'm not disagreeing with you I just think for myself on a very limited budget the 1/2 ounces could be fun to save for over a few months here and there. Enjoy bro🙂👊

_There’s so many gold eagles out there, but I don’t like or trust about the gold eagle is that their profile is a flat profile and the mixture of other metals makes it easier to create Counterfeits_ _The gold buffaloes, however, has a relief profile with details that is very hard to mimic plus it’s purity makes it noteworthy and it’s low mintage brings in a higher retail premium_ _I know that not all coin dealers are the same but my coin dealer offers me $45 over spot for buffaloes because he can barely get his hands on them_

Interesting. I have a savings account of fiat for things like truck or tractor repair or in case I need a new one. I'd finance a new truck for a couple of months until I could sell my old one, then pay off the loan. That would put me ahead rather than trading in a vehicle for less than what the dealer will mark it up for. Financing in the short term or for huge purchases (a house or farm, for example) may make sense. Life is short.

There is exactly a full oz of gold in a gold eagle plus silver and copper that’s why they weigh more than the gold buffalo. I prefer buffalos but technically you are getting free silver and copper with the eagle
@GeorgeOneEleven4 ай бұрын
Like others have stated, the AGE and buffalo both have a full ounce of gold in them, so there's no concern there. Also, I'd hesitate to ever use the phrase "junk gold"... Gold is just in a whole other ballpark compared to silver due to how valuable it is by weight, so there's not really any downside to having it in a less pure form. In fact, being alloyed is actually an advantage since it makes the coin less prone to wear over time. That's why back when gold was used in circulated currency, the coins were never 24 karat.

@GeorgeOneEleven4 ай бұрын
@@SuperGiantGeckosLLC If you walk into an LCS and ask for "junk gold", nobody is going to know what you're talking about and you're just going to make a fool out of yourself. Besides what I mentioned above, junk silver refers to circulated currency. Circulated US gold coinage has its own name: "pre-1933 gold". That's what you'd want to ask for. And again, putting the word "junk" anywhere near something that has a value of $2500/oz is just hilariously absurd.
