Hello friend from the US! This is a cool video and a cool reaction. As a Pole, I wanted to explain something to you. Sometimes you may come across the opinion that Poles are racists and do not like people of African descent. This is completely untrue. We Poles never participated in the western colonization of Africa, which is why we have never had many people of other skin colors living here. That is why sometimes Poles may seem very reserved towards people of different skin colors, but it is not because we do not like them, but only because we are not used to seeing them. Poland is a very mono-ethnic country, where almost everyone is white, but we never judge people solely by their appearance or their race. Due to our tragic history we feel a connection with every person who was also oppressed so we sympathize with you and we know your history too. That is why I would like to tell you that if you would like to come to Poland, you are very welcome here and I hope that if you ever come here, your stay here will be a source of joy and satisfaction for you! Don't forget to try pierogi, potato pancakes and vodka. One of the things that is great about Poland is our food, which can really improve anyone's mood 😉!

let me just remind you that 1939 was not that long ago, my family survived the German occupation but were deported in cattle wagons to gulags in Siberia. Polish families fled on foot to Kazakhstan, from where many returned home to Poland, just like I did 30 years ago

Polish history is pretty much obscured from the world. We spent so much time under different occupations that we never really had a "voice" to present our own version of history- until a few decades ago when the Iron Curtain finally fell. Most of the things the world knows about Poland is based on some outdated prejudices- a lot of it literally coming from the racist propaganda spread by the countries who occupied us. For example in the 19th century, the Germans were spreading the image of Poles as being backwards, dumb, aggressive etc- all to stop people of other countries from becoming sympathetic towards Poland and showing support for Polish Independence cause. It contributed to the Polish immigrants not being treated well in the US- they were given the status of "lesser whites", whatever it means, they were even targeted by the Ku klux Klan! If you ever heard about the "Polish jokes" that used to be popular in the States, they come from that time. It's always nice to see someone wanting to learn more about us. Some people might think it's funny that Poles are so obsessed with it, but it really means a lot when someone looks at us with an open mind and not through the lens of stereotypes and prejudice (though it still exists- for example recently it became popular to paint the Poles as being ultra conservative, nationalistic, racist, homophobic etc, just because we had this kind of government at that time. Even though the polish society is very much divided- just like the American one- and most people actually hated that government.)
