A common misconseption about the Russian comunist revolution is that the empire still had serfs, but the practice of serfdom was abolished by Tsar Alexander II in 1861.

Fun Fact the "manhole cover" was actually specially made and over 2000 lbs so it's actually very likely that at the speed it was moving it could've left orbit before it burned up

Minimum of 150,000 mph. I absolutely believe it smoked straight through the atmosphere and is likely still screaming through the galaxy.

Kyle Hill ran the numbers and it probably didn't IIRC. But it'd be whole lot cooler if it did
@noctisumbra27495 сағат бұрын
@@MrSquigglies His numbers also failed to account for some things. Same reason you can have metal spheres survie in the core of a nuclear explosion. The energy is high enough but in such ashort window it ablates the outer layers but much of the object still survives.

Slightly wrong. Russian expansion did forcibly exploit some tribes but the majority of natives in Russia's expansion joined for political reasons, safety, or personal benefit. It doesn't mirror the conquests of the natives done by the Spanish. Also worth noting people often only focus on the abuse done to natives by the British or French and while that did happen to some extent they also traded and made deals with them. The US on the other hand for most of its history looked down on natives entirely. It wasn't until Theodore Roosevelt that any US leader spoke in favor of natives in the US. Reportedly he adamantly believed natives should be fairly compensated for their land.

1:00 Well, one thing I didn't know about Russia until recently is the Soviet Union had pretty much the same borders as the Russian Empire before it. I always thought Russia was ... Russia, and all the other SSRs joined or were annexed later. So, yeah, if we lost like a quarter of our territory, we'd be pissed too. And it's a quarter of their GOOD land, not some far-flung subarctic wasteland.
@jacobdill44995 сағат бұрын
Arguably the best quarter of the old Russian empire based on useful ports, raw materials other than petroleum, and good farm land.

10:30 Since many other man made things have burned up in our atmosphere from sheer speed, then claiming that manhole went even faster than that guarantees it also burned up.

Also I plan to attend the Djurgården HJK game together with Nea Piha and Gweal Monykuany they are my friends from school and have LinkedIn pages. I would also like for Mark Goldbridge, Thogden and Kamala Harris to attend. This is not a joke. I'd ask Elina Valtonen or someone from the Finnish government to help me with arranging this.

Terry, my family is also Volga German. My great-great grandparents came from a colony about 12 miles downstream from Saratov. They emigrated to near Hays in Kansas in the 1870s. Another branch of my family tree came from what’s now western Poland. At the time, it was Prussia (before the German Empire came into being). I once emailed the Catholic Bishop of Saratov. He’s also the Bishop of Munich. I asked him whether he knew of any records of Volga Germans still existing. He actually replied back and understood my broken German. He didn’t know about such records. We both surmised those records were likely destroyed by Stalin during or before WWII.

[nationalist]ers is a telltale sign that the meme was made by an Indian. It's one of the many weird variations on syntax that Indians and Bangladeshis use when speaking English. I've not heard Pakistanis do it.

Finally someone acknowledges that Marx never intended a country like Russia to jump directly from feudalism to communism. Also, that Marx never expected capitalism to be able to modify itself to prevent its own downfall. 40hr work week? Thank Marx. Days off? Marx. So many things are BECAUSE of Marx. We never got the full on workers revolution he expected, well not yet anyway, but we got good changes that he'd have seen as progress.
