Tiffany is the original singer of this song. She rose to fame in 1987 at the age of 16 with her cover of "I Think We're Alone Now". That song was her debut and it became #1 in the first few weeks of release. She then proceeded to release "Could've Been" as her second or third single which became her second #1 hit in early 1988. She originally gained national recognition for her promotional concert tour of shopping malls which influenced her first album to become quadrupal platinum by 1989. She was also widely publicised to have had a rivalry with another teen pop singer of the time, Debbie Gibson, although both have denied that they had a problem with eachother. Not many have heard of Tiffany simply because like most teen pop stars, she had a whirlwind career and then when she became and adult, hollywood wanted nothing more to do with her. This also happened to Debbie Gibson and many others such as the New Kids On The Block. However Tiffany is still an active performer to this day, however she now sings mostly Country and Western music, I hope this answers everyone who is asking "who the heck is Tiffany?" :)

All in all, I think Carrie Underwood is a very talented artist, but all of the other winners were as well, regardless of whether they have been more popular or not. So.. There have been comments saying that Tiffany did a better job singing this song.. I checked one version of Tiffany.. and I was like wow.. it's really CLOSE maybe with the edge to Tiffany.. but I realized.. Carrie pretty much did this live. So I went and viewed Tiffany live when she played in Sacramento at the Rainbow Fest maybe.. Carrie blew her away live. If you don't agree you need to get your ears checked!

Carrie is not only a great singer but she is a great person! I knew her before she was famous (well i knew her but didnt like know know her. Like I never went over to her house or nothing but I met her because she was one of my friends sorority sisters so thats how i met her and i saw her at walmart like all the time lol) But I really like her song I Aint in Checotah Anymore! But what kinda confuses me is that she was at college so she was in Checotah anyways but its a great song!!

Look at how many people look up to NFL players,NBA players and so on and so on. i think it's cuz historically male artists are characterized by their song-writing abilities, rather than singing. i mean, aside from the old greats like frank sinatra, elvis, and bing crosby, modern male artists write and sing their music. in contrast female artists are largely noted for their vocal abilities, and have historically been given songs to sing by their recording companies. thankfully artists like kelly clarkson and christina aguilera have begun to break that mold in pop music.
