Have you ever heard the term "tone deaf"? See the problem with tone deaf is that they absolutely cannot hear that they are off of tune. There's a reason you cannot pass your music exams for an instrument past a certain grade if you are tone deaf. It's sad, but even the music conservatories try to cull these unfortunate individuals out and for good reason - they have standards and a reputation to uphold. Sadly, there's NO cure for tone deaf.

He was honestly starting to think that American Idol was going to be a disaster, like bringing this show to America was a mistake. But his faith was renewed when they finally started meeting some good singers, one of which was Kelly Clarkson.
