Great for horse racing I've been a fans from the time I know myself I love horses I'll forever cherish that day that moment when me and my dad were jumping up and down yelling at each other yes he did it it's over the wait is over. AP is such a unique, special horse, from his misspelled name, to his half tail, his unusually sweet temperament and being the 12th TC winner in 37 years! Such an amazing individual!

I don't think most people really understand how difficult wining the tipple crown really is. *Speed, Strength, and Endurance* all bread into the same athlete. That would be like taking taking a track athlete and trying to make him run sprints and middle distance races. Not to mention the fact of doing it all in such a short period of time. Against fresh horses none the less! No wonder it almost never happens.

I guess AP got REALLY hacked off he wasn't racing like the other horses on Saturday night, so his handlers had to let him walk his frustration off. The same thing happened back in 1973 when Secretariat was paraded at Aqueduct just before he left for Kentucky to retire to stud. He wanted to RUN a race, not trot in front of the stands! Ron Turcotte, his jockey, ended up letting him gallop a bit before joining the rest of Big Red's human family one last time in the Winner's Circle for special presentations. Secretariat by this time was so angry, he reached over his owner Penny Chenery's shoulder and grabbed a mouthful of rose blossoms from the bouquet she'd just been presented with then stood there defiantly chewing roses while the photographers snapped away. WHATTA GUY!!!!

Thanks for the post since I also missed the broadcast. My favorite moment was when AP stood on the track looking toward the far turn. Not to harsh anyone's mellow, but isn't it obvious by now that for AP to keep running against 3yos is like taking candy from the rest of the 'babies'?

I agree. But Justify had the misfortune to win the Triple Crown soon after American Pharoah, and unlike Pharoah, Justify wasn’t able to compete after the Belmont.

there is certainly luck involved with winning the triple crown. everything went american pharoah's way and he was also good enough to win it. big brown and smarty jones' best race is still lengths faster than the best race american pharoah has ever run. american pharoah isn't the fastest 3yo in the last 15 years but he was the right horse to win all 3.
