This came out when I was 16 and I went to see it in the theater with my best friend. The theater was packed, she and I were so stoned, and everyone in the audience was laughing so hard and having the best time. Good memories, great movie!

Most of our proms are not in a school. They are typically in a country club hall where weddings and other celebrations take place. The only places they would be held at a school are in very rural communities, out away from big cities.

In most American public schools homecoming & type dances are held in the gymnasium. Proms are either in the gymnasium or some schools outsource it to a dining hall type places

Here in Australia, high schools don't really have proms (at least that was the case in the 80s when I was a hs student.) I don't know about these days. We did have 'socials' at some kind of venue but I never attended one. I notice in Hollywood movies that proms seem to be a very big thing in American schools.

Yeah this is considered a "modern classic". The term MILF was invented here and is now used worldwide. The sequel, 'American Pie 2' is just as good as this one. Also, both movies were actually filmed in Michigan (very beautiful state). Fun Fact #1: Lake Michigan is so big that you feel like you are in the ocean. The other side of Lake Michigan are the states of Illinois and Minnesota. Fun Fact #2: Michigan is the state with the most miles of coastline. People usually think its California or Alaska because they are on the ocean, but actually Michigan has the most because of all the Great Lakes, and because of the "upper" area which people always forget about.

Was at uni at the time and me and my mates were on a bus into the city. One of them was loudly talking about MILF this and MILF that. We had to point out that American Pie was a popular movie and he wasn't using some sort of secret code.

Jims dad is one of the funniest characters ever written. Every scene he's in is great. The scene where he walks in on Jim shagging the pie is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Not sure which version you watched but there are two. In one he's standing up making love to the pie, in the other he's on top of the kitchen counter missionary position LoL.

This is thought of as a dirty young "get laid" movie. but aside of a few nasty jokes it is really a wholesome story, where the main characters find out that treating others with respect results in actual positive encounters...

In my school, the majority of school dances were held in large communal areas in the school, either the cafeteria or gymnasium. However, my senior prom was actually held at a separate venue.

The second and third American Pie movies are pretty good too. This was an era just around the time access to the internet and mobile telephones was becoming common but none of these kids would have had mobiles. The way school was and certain taboos were a bit different to now. There are some good other teen movies that came out around the same time like Road Trip, Dead Man on Campus, Cruel Intentions, Idle Hands, Van Wilder, Sex Trip, Harold and Khumar go to Whitecastle... just to name a few. They don't seem to make teen comedies anymore, but these were good times and guarantee some more laughs.

It was more or less a rebirth of the risque teen comedies that were popular in the 1980s. Animal House was one of the first films of this genre which came out in the late 70s.
