Finally!! Someone who really speaks English made a video about this “Marina-speak American my way-Mogilko”. Me myself not a native speaker but it’s okay, I’m not pretending being a native speaker and don’t tell anyone how to speak English. But those few times I have watched her videos… Dude how you can teach people to speak “American way” if you don’t speak “American way”. She has such a thick accent which is okay IF YOU DONT TEACH PEOPLE TO SPEAK WITHOUT AN ACCENT 😂😂😂 And her vocabulary videos, phrases and many more just not usable. Not a single native speaker in real life speaks like she teaches people to speak. Crazy! Thanks for your video ❤🎉

Thank God for you guys! I'm a English Teacher and she's been getting on my nerves with all these errors and complacent manner and attitude with which she provides her material. I'd watched one or two of her vocabulary videos one or two years ago without noticing any errors. I supposed she would take more time to prepare her videos more meticulously back then. It was only recently that I checked some of her recent videos bumping into your videos. You can even notice how uncertain her train of thought is while providing definitive pronunciation explanations. It's a pity and a shame and Hadar, who I actually used to respect, was too quick to go the extra mile and out of her way to vehemently defend Marina. Kudos to both of you for your humility and the hard you've actually put into your videos.

I agree. and I have the same feeling about Hadar. I used to watch her youtube videos, but now I unsubcribed hers. Why does she unfairly defend Marina and say that it's a slip of the tongue? Obviously Marina makes an awful lot of mistakes in just one videos. Why didn't you defend us, english learners around the world Hadar?! We have got to 'unlearn' many bad habit pronunciation caused by Marina, and it wastes our darn time and energy. In her lessons, Marina CONFIDENTLY says : If you WANT to speak like an AMERICAN.....say it THIS way.... we believed in you Marina, please review it first before you publish your video. You have got lots of money from selling your english courses, enough to hire an American english teacher to recheck and edit your videos. Kevin and Lisa, thank you very much for correcting Marina's mistakes. It means a LOT to us. Please keep doing it. Don't worry about Hadar. Maybe she is just anxious that she would be your next target. Which I think THAT would be a game changer.

If you go to Hadar's video, in the comments you can see "Marina doesn't even have the education to teach others", to which Hadar replied: "hello, this is KZbin". These simple phrases make such a big difference, we all understand, we are told right in the eyes "hello, you know what you are taking and you deserve it". Thank you for helping us - KZbin students - to learn the right things. I am very glad that there are such qualified teachers like you.
@gluman_da

But what Hadar said is true, my friend. KZbin as a platform has democratized the creation and distribution of content. I had a friend of mine who was not a music teacher but a very good musician, now he has a KZbin channel to teach music with millions of followers and a very good reputation. No one is worrying if he had or not a certification that shows he can teach music or not :)

@Adelina5771
@Adelina5771 Жыл бұрын
@@gluman_da When someone pretends to be a teacher, teaches others the wrong things, and justifies himself that "it's KZbin" - this is not normal. It's not about your friend who is a good musician, it's about a bad English teacher who is not really a teacher, so she doesn't take responsibility as a teacher. Do you like this? I am convinced that you will not turn to a doctor or a lawyer who does not have a diploma, no matter how charismatic this blogger may seem, but there are certain categories in which a diploma is a sign of guarantee and responsibility that a specialist assumes. Language teaching is one of those categories. When Hadar said what she said, she was simply arguing that Marina was unqualified. We understand that it's not just about a piece of parer, it's about getting an education as responsibility, but Marina doesn't need it, because she's just doing business, deceiving students - that's what it is. So no, Hadar did not tell the truth. The fact that KZbin is an open platform for talent does not mean that a blogger who cheats is ok. And it does not mean that it is an absolute norm if a language teacher from KZbin is without a diploma. This is just not a teacher, just like a doctor without a diploma is not a doctor, that's the truth.

@@gluman_da Yes, it is not Harvard. That is, we are put before an artificial (because this condition was invented by man for the purpose of manipulation) condition: either Harvard or a teacher without education. An interesting situation, don't you think? But does it mean that there is a place for fraud, manipulation and lies? Hadar knew what she was writing. She tried to devalue teachers with diplomas who constantly work hard, improve their skills, and students who want to see responsible teachers even on KZbin. Are you happy when you come across a scammer on KZbin? Maybe it's enough to justify such people, don't you think?

It's funny that the way Marina pronounces the "t" in her videos is actually correct and she does it in the American way, but still she managed to teach it wrong. Most likely because she googled some lessons where the British pronunciation was used instead. Brits love to use the glottal stop everywhere (which is not the same sound as the stop T in this video), but British accents are also much less standardized.
@OlgasBritishFells
@OlgasBritishFells Жыл бұрын
Because she didn't know the correct terminology for it. She thinks that certain sounds are totally omitted, when they are not. And she doesn't know what a glottal sounds are like (t, k, p). She needs to actually learn the theory herself. Her speaking is good, apart from missing out articles here and there and sometimes she translates Russian expressions straight into English.

That video is the latest one from Marina's channel. I noticed in the comment section that, sadly, most English learners were not aware of her mistakes.

That's the problem. Many beginners can't tell a native speaker and a non-native speaker apart. In continental Europe 90% of people can't spot my accent.

Thnx a bunch for this enlightening video. I'm not a professional speaker. However, I do try my best to move with my English to the next level. I follow the shadowing technique more than any phonetic rules and that's how I figured out that ( T) has different pronunciations ; it is fast (d) before vowels like in (I bought it) and it is stop( t ) before consonants like in ( I bought that ). It is elided when speaking fast before consonants like in ( fast food ) , we also elide it after ( n) and before the vowel like in ( I went in ) or ( internet) . Last but not least , it is commonly pronounced glottal ( t) in British English like in ( better). Please correct me if I'm wrong . PS I'm a super fan of your invaluable videos; they are a great help to me and to all learners who can't travel overseas to learn the American English perfectly. You are an epitome of dedication. I just wanna add that my first problem in learning the language was that I was seeking perfection but now I'm seeking connection not perfection and that's why I'm not afraid of my mistakes anymore.

When you learn a foreign language there can be sounds to which your ear is insensitive/deaf, so that's simply how she hears it. You just have to learn it from other people cause they speak it when you don't. Even with your first language

Agreed. What marina says by “dont pronounce the t” is true by the way some other languages dont pronounce the t. Thats just how some languages perceive the pronunciation.
