BTS fans travel. In 2019 I spent the day with a great group of fans on the green. Not one fan that I spent the day with was from the LA area. They were from Japan, Mexico, Seattle, Phoenix and I had traveled from Louisiana. We had an awesome day and a mind blowing concert. BTS concerts are like a world wide family reunion.

I'm 58 years old rock metal fan, growing with Scorpions, Mettalica, Eagles and Queen. But I would never expect to became "fan" of anybody. I met BTS by coincidence, I fall for their music, their dance, their artistry. But what really made me an Army fan is their messages, their authenticity, and their inspirational journey. They are my light in the darkness. Some crossover fans have even admitted that there were fans in other groups who did that and actively recruited to do it. I love hearing your commentary. I love how you share your expertise with us. Army is educated but there are definitely some things I don't realize without people like you. So thank you. BTS has a lovely fanbase in China. They actually made Mandarin versions of some of their older tracks. Hong Kong is a regular host for some pretty big Asian award shows as well and BTS regularly performs in those (some of their most legendary performances actually). For all we know there may be some hidden North Korean fans too. K-dramas are bootlegged there so some of BTS's stuff might have gotten out too.

I’m a vintage Army ot7 I was at Wembley 2nd of June 2019. I was with my daughter who was Army well before me.She introduced me to all of them . “ Boy with luv” BTS & Halsey !! Was my first favourite song! The songs BTS sang, at Wembley !! the individual songs were amazing.V’s Singularity, JK’s Euphoria, Jins Epiphany…….I will never forget !!!!!’ Army chanting made my ear hurt!!! China Army are very strong regardless of the government. There have been a few incidents with Japan’s government (not the fans) against BTS. [Between 1910 and 1945 Korea was ruled by the Empire of Japan and those 2 countries have had a contentious relationship ever since.] Japan sometimes “punishes” BTS. The fanbase is very strong though.

We don't just have streaming parties, we have streaming parties where we actively engage with each other as fans and discuss the music. We don't vote by setting up vpn farms like some fandoms. ARMY loves BTS and we work our asses off for them because we love them. And we do it honestly, because we don't want to disappoint them by using nefarious means. We do it honestly because we believe in their music and their artistry. We know its better than anything else out there and we don't have to lie or cheat to prove it. I'm happy you watched this video and hope you continue researching the truth of BTS very organic success story. They don't need to use industry tactics because they have ARMY. I know it feels hard to believe as you take it all in, but trust me, BTS, and I even feel comfortable saying BigHit/HYBE, are changing the music industry standards through genuine artistry and by standing firm in their ethically moral business choices. I grew up in a multi-racial and multi-cultural family. I've seen a lot in my 46 years, but I've never seen anything like BTS. Not even close. And I've been a Packer fan since birth! I know ARMY can be intense in our fervor for BTS, but please don't misunderstand, we aren't trying to be hateful or gatekeep, we just simply want people to see what we see. We want everyone who even catches a glimpse of BTS to experience the same joy we have found in knowing them and their music. And most importantly, we want to protect them from false narratives and judgement based on preconceived notions. BTS competition? I saw one once, can't recall where, but they even knew the boys blood types! 😂😂 And when SK and Japan were having a 'disagreement' about war damages etc one of the boys had a t-shirt celebrating independence from Japan (prior to an upcoming concert in Japan) and the Japanese banned BTS. All media outlets ran with it, including Western ones and yup, Army got involved because the media as usual were running stories without correct facts, and wrote a White Paper about the war between the two nations, going back historically and corrected the lot of them. KUDOS TO ARMY for not letting it be. Really, you can't underestimate Army's! 💜💜 I concur, the hardships video is useful to react to.

ARMY is not a monolith, and has our bad apples but I have met so many very generous kind ppl in this community. It’s a very playful fandom who don’t take ourselves too seriously internally (can be aggressive when provoked tho, don’t poke😅). ARMY also kind of move together but separate from BTS, it’s a most intriguing dynamic. Also the fandom tries to self regulate, it’s truly a fascinating community. China soft banned BTS😅. As in they’re not on TV etc but you can still buy their music but no media visibility. As I understand, it’s due to a speech RM gave about South Korea & US foreign relations, and he referenced the Korean War and Chinese government didn’t like it 😅. China has very fickle policy regarding Kpop, sometimes it’s ok and sometimes it’s not. So imo it’s smart that Big hit decided not to focus their resources on the Chinese market as much pretty early on. KZbin is indeed banned in China. Oooh ARMY make fan songs for BTS anniversaries, they’re really sweet, hahah you should check them out some day.

What, who didn't talk for 6 months? That's not possible, they literally lived together since they started out...but they had fights FOR SURE. Many and most in the beginning (cause how are you gonna put 7 distinctly different young men or more in one small apartment with no money 💀). Suga and RM started out with the most experience making music and they clashed a lot about it when they started out. V and Jimin are best friends by all means, but they had pretty big fights, and they showed us a big fight mid-tour between Jin and V on one documentary. Having fights is one of the things Bang PD, the big boss, encouraged. He even told them to use fists if necessary. Cause not arguing lets things fester and that's when real problems arise. But he gave them a condition when resolving fights, and that is that everyone in bts needs to be involved, not just the members who are fighting. Later on watching reactors, someone mentioned that African families do the same conflict resolution thing haha (damnit, I don't remember what country he said he was from)

There is a reason why we care. The K-industry is very cutthroat. BTS was different in every way and RM is that enigma that got people to work together as trainees and support each other rather than finding ways to sabotage each other. Those with true talents will rise to the top, and even then there is no guarantee they will get selected, but all those trainees are now friends/comrades who went through this difficult training together. Anyone that went against this did not last. Synergy was the priority. Before that, the k-industry stoked in-group fighting to get headlines in the press. At variety shows, one would be openly dissing the other in a mean way. Another would be watching one like she wanted to kill her. Groups would crash and burn because of it. Then a month later you realize they had a new group waiting (or a new member) to fill their shoes, sing their songs, and wear their clothes, just younger. S/M was known to do this, and deaths happened because of it in my opinion. They were trying to throw this on BTS in 2021 when SUGA was mimicking someone saying, "Ohh they are too old and washed up," because BH/HYBE purchased several labels with all their talent plus had BH's TXT that was successful with a 2nd album. BTS can retire now...? BTS still made up 90% of the company's money. In 2022 when all the debute groups had their albums out and doing tours, they now pull in collectively 30-40% of the profit for HYBE, while BTS has been on rest since June/July and only an anthology album on the shelf at the time. We should get end of year finance reports to see how the solo albums effected their profits. 102K people at Hobipalooza is worth 2 concerts. The prices BTS charges ($98-$475), I don't think the other HYBE groups can charge as much. BTS tickets get re-sold by TicketMaster for up to $50K+ I recommend going by release dates with documentaries if an order was not suggested.

What uninformed or ignorant folks see is a lot of noice on the net by armys. Because the fandom is ridiculously huge but their popularity is even crazier that casual fans or listeners also use the term 'army'. We don't gatekeep who should be in the fandom cause bts is a huge lengthy journey (I took my sweet time to call myself army to respect the true fandom inspite really knowing and loving the group before calling myself so). Thereby, when armys raise an issue it easily spreads to those who follow bts on a shallow level which ends up in a mix of positive and negative aggressiveness. (primary school kids discussions on bts is a good example of how you can instantly tell they are influenced by popular opinion on the net. And that is understandble for their age but many older folks are no different. And that either results in sensless hating or trying to replicate the passion armys show without having the knowledge that army does) This creates a major prejudice to those who don't know the fandom or the group. In reality, the fandom has as an equally huge history as the group does. Having done so much organisational work around the world; Even changing the pattern of an industry by actively translating music to not just English but multiple languages, directing mvs and the storyline that runs throughout their discography, explaining the political historical and culture implications that usually exist in their music/lyrics etc. And all this at a time when none in any industry ever did. Unless you experience it yourself, one never understand the impact it has. It may sound superficial, but being an ARMY goes way beyond just being a fan like how it's usually meant. It really becomes a part of your livelihood. And what gets us together is the boys and their music (our roots), but we dont stop their and take the inspiration we get from them to put it into our personal and social lives.

Army can be very overwhelming! The fanbase is huge and so there is a huge variety of people, and it's very active online. I would say the majority of Army content is positive, fun, caring and also uplifting, but some negative people are very loud and difficult to ignore! I think sometimes people also mistake genuine engagement and feedback for "cancelling". I've seen reactors (not you though!) become very defensive whenever they are corrected or informed on something, and talk as if they've been attacked by a mob... Then you check the comments and it's just people saying "actually, it was like this, you can get more info here blabla" no anger, no raging mob, just plain engagement with the content creator, but I think it can easily feel like a mob because there are so many of us. Anyways, thanks for the video 💜 :)

I saw exactly this with a reactors I supported for a while and then they started to react to boracitymagazine and they completely did not understand what she was saying. Army corrected them in comments. They went into defensive mode and said they are harassed and that the comments are "crazy". I've read ALL the comments and did not found this harassment, hate and craziness they were talking about.

I greatly enjoy how insightful you are about the power BTS has and their fans generate. You are correct if we had an electorate in the U.S. that was as well informed this country would evolve by light years. I am 55 and I have never been so deeply involved with any other musical group. I had the the opportunity to see them in Las Vegas last April and the feeling in the venue was a feeling I wish I could bottle. If we could have harnessed that energy we could have lit up the Vegas strip on our own. Even in a venue that hold 50,000 people you could literally feel how sincere BTS with each other and ARMY. BTS have not been to China since 2016 due to poor political relations between China and South Korea. There's actually been de facto ban of K-Pop group performances in the country since 2017-ish. However BTS have a LOT of fans there. Chinese fanbases are LOADED with money (there are a lot of rich folks in China, lmao) and they often pay for advertisement billboards for birthdays, album releases, etc. They also arrange in-person events for the same things, whether in South Korea or elsewhere. China doesn't officially release album sales numbers the same way other countries do, so we don't know the exact numerical value of BTS' sales/streams in China. However, it's pretty much known that they are the most popular Korean music group within China.

This video is from 2020, it's exploded even more since then in terms of numbers, followers, etc. We do have voting and streaming parties! A lot is organized on Twitter. We make playlists for each other, have goals or battles (e.g., Team X vs. Team Y, who can stream more?). We have voting fanbases aware of award voting around the globe and provide links for ARMY to vote for awards in multiple countries. It's organized and intelligent support, because they deserve all the crowns and flowers we can give them 💜

Army is very protective of BTS and sometimes we can be too aggressive (no bad intention) but what bts has built together with army is so beautiful...so difficult to explain but above all organic, whoever comes to BTS and stays, does it because of that deep bond that they generate. I've been in the kpop world for a long time (bts didn't even think of debuting as a group) and fandoms work completely different from the fandom of any other artist in any other kind of industry, but what ARMY does as a fandom, the bond with BTS, the love, the capacity of empathy, the thousands of projects around the world...I've never seen it before. I think ARMY recognized that, as powerful and influential as BTS is as an entity and individuals, we as a fandom are also a great source of their power. So we have things put into place to, for want of a better phrasing, recruit new ARMY into the ranks. The more we grow, the more BTS grows in power and influence. That's more sales, streams, ads, merch, etc but also more charities, donations, project contributors, volunteers, etc. So the factors that made the OG 2013 ARMY fall in love with the group and the cause hasn't been lost because we can recreate enough of that spirit to show new people why we think BTS is great and why we think they might enjoy them too. Of course, everyone is different and taste varies so it's okay that not everyone will like their music. At the very least we have things in place to help people give them a fair shot when they otherwise might not know they exist or may have written them off as some foreign fad. At least if they don't like it, it's not based on preconceptions but it's an informed choice. That's all we ask. Sometimes, people may say that the music isn't for them but they fall in love with BTS as people and decide they are wonderful enough to support. So they'll still buy merch and watch all of their other non-music content and buy the things they put their names on. It's an ongoing joke that BTS doesn't need to advertise because their lives are natural product placement. If we see them drinking something that looks interesting, it gets sold out. If they let a brand show, revenue for that company goes up and articles are written about it. If they mess around and we get a peek of a label of what they're wearing, it's out of stock within the week. The members have started hiding their fave brands from us if we ask them in the chats because they say if they tell us their fave flavour of a drink, they won't be able to buy any again. When Jungkook told us which kombucha brand and flavour he drinks, ARMY bought them all and he got pouty because he couldn't find any to buy anymore. Suga refused to tell us what cologne he wears after he told us that a fan gifted it to him years ago and he kept buying it. It's the only one he uses and he's amused by us but he knows better than to tell us the name. Also yes we do streaming parties. I usually join while I'm at work at night and need to code with music on then I'll pop in to chat when I need a break and go back to work. Or I'll have the chat open on another screen. Streaming services are crappy so fans have to create special playlists so that Spotify will at least kinda act right instead of acting like we're bots for listening to the same albums over and over. We can get in 25,000 streams in a day at minimum on the party I usually join. Sometimes they do a 5-day party and you can pop in whenever you feel like listening. I know a few weeks back RM joined a streaming party and hung out, playing DJ while ARMY was listening to Indigo. I follow a twitter page that gives out daily tasks so that we know what the goal of the day is. Eg. Stream the Indigo album top to bottom or watch Jungkook's Dreamers MV or Listen to [instert list of old songs that are close to 200M streams). That way it helps get songs to milestones faster because we're listening to things we want to listen to but we just get a focus. So instead of thinking "What album should I play today?", I already have one picked out to jam to. Also yes, a lot of people don't believe in having a bias and that saying you have a bias means that you don't love all 7. Others, like myself, consider BTS to be our bias within the music world (so we like them the best out of everyone). Then we also have an ultimate bias in the group where we feel a little more connected and endeared toward them even though we love all 7. For me I have an extra soft spot for RM although they're all my darlings.

ARMY is really the best community I ever stumbled upon! We conduct yearly censuses within the fandom through our main statistics account and ARMY has a very unusally high percentage of folks with primary and secondary college degrees! But we also really value "street knowledge", common sense and no matter your background if you want to launch a project we can support! For example serveal groups of ARMYs are currently buildings apps to faciliate votings for example... All it takes is a tweet saying we need 2 available front-end developers, agile managers etc.. and in less than a day the project team was build! It almost acts as a large network/ incubator, we are really there for each other, we can support with skills, we can invest/ fund, we publish academic research papers or just give a helping hand, hear someone out! It's personally a really empowering environment! And because we have to beat the system at their own game we study the industry, and a lot of ppl already knowledgeable abt the industry join the ARMY (I personally too classes about the music industry from Berklee College of Music prior to being ARMY because I was fascinatedabt the industry and want things to change for fans and artists and rethink the current model put in place by labels, radio and actors like streaming platforms and this fandom allows these discussions) and conduct tests to beat the algorithms but always in a fair way just by organic fan engagement (no bots etc..)! But all this is because the members of BTS have an unparalleled work ethic, their story is so inspirational! So we strive to honor them as they lead by example.

ARMY has exploded into more. The creator Bang Si Hyuk created BTS to be a voice for SK youth . BigHit Healing through music. He also believes in artistic freedom. Their early songs Dope, No, Danger we’re about SK educational system, the fanatical way parents want to run your life. The pressures of making the grades so you get into the right University and get a good stable job with the government. The parents tend to believe if you don’t get into a good University, you will be a failure for ever. Plus, mothers like to have bragging rights in their little groups. The pressure is enormous. You have day school and cram school after that. SK has the highest suicide rate in a developing nation. I think it has decreased some sense they realize mental health is important. Idols, actors, businessmen, elderly, students all were committing suicide at an alarming rate. His motto Healing through Music. FACTS, you can not talk hateful sht about our guys and walk away unscathed. We don’t fight physically. We have toxic ARMY that get way too much attention, but they live on Twitter and Instagram. We also have solo Stan’s which we don’t consider as true Army because that goes against the guys. You have to respect the group. A bias is no problem, but solo Stan a problem. V even checked them during an award acceptance speech. He said we are 7, not 6. The guys have videos on YT called Study with BTS. They each work on something to encourage ARMY students to study. ( listen to Pied Piper). I love ARMY. I am not quitting because of toxicity. 40 million of us, we are going to have some zealots. China got mad at us. But Chinese Army exists and spend money. The members played in Saudia Arabia. SK still hating that BTS made it being a part of a piss poor record company. They were the first and only to do so. Now the company has rebranded and gone public. Well, I don't personally own Bodyfriend massage chair, but there is a footage of Suga sleeping in one and he looked pretty darn comfortable, lol. Solo stans exist in BTS fandom and they're actually damaging not only ARMY's image but BTS' too. But while solo stans of others K-Pop groups can really make damage to the group and company, BTS ARMY (solos are not considered ARMY) is so huge and strong that solos don't have real power to make damage to BTS themselves. BoraCity has good video about how solo stans are problematic. So, yes, all ARMYs are ot7 (stan whole BTS) while also have biases (or not). I, actually accidentally got in a fight with RM's solos under one of your videos, lol. If you saw their comments and words (insults) they said to me and to some other commenters, you understand what I am talking about. And here are sasaengs (I actually can't remember if I spelling this right). They are obsessive fans, who actually are stalkers. BigHit and ARMY have blacklist for them, ARMY reporting them and people who spread false information to BigHit regularly. Last cause of the lawsuit was against person who spread fake rumors about V and Jenni (of BLACKPINK) dating each other (in the start of 2022 if I'm not mistaken). These things can be very damaging for idols, they both received a lot of hate for these rumors and I don't remember of BLACKPINK company trying to protect her when BigHit did protect V. Sasaengs are so invasive that idols know them in the face and by their names. There was cause when channel owner that posted videos of JK was blacklisted by BigHit. In one of her video from the award show you can see that JK enjoying the show than noticed her (he looks right into the camera), mouthed her name and gets visible uncomfortable. So, yeah. And fun story about BTS being able to sell everything. It was in this video nut without details. ARMY sold out fabric softener JK mentioned he used and liked and he couldn't buy one. So he switched fabric softener and never told to what brand. And he drank wine in one of his Vlives. He didn't mention brand but ARMY found this wine by it's bottle and sold out it. Jin (or Jimin?) mentioned Kombucha brand and flavour he liked and after that scolded ARMY that he couldn't find it in the stores anymore. In Suga's last Vlive this autumn he was asked which perfume he is using. He said that was gift from the fan and he really likes it, but refused to tell which perfume specifically it is, because he said if he tell us he wouldn't be able to buy it anymore.

Sir, I know you are receiving a lot of comments from ARMY, and I don't know if you will even see this one, but just wanted to say 1. Thank You. Thank you for taking ur time to not only listen to BTS but also to find out more about them. As well as to listen and read comments from ARMY. All we want is for people to hear and see what these men are all about. And a large number of people listen to one song and brush them off as just another boy band. You are one of the few that have taken time out of what I'm sure is a busy schedule and have not only listened but wanted to learn about BTS as well as ARMY. I also want to say that you are also one of the few who choose to be informed, intelligent, clear-spoken, and wonderful to listen to. You don't speak down about BTS nor do you speak down to ARMY. Thank You. You had a question about China, and whether or not BTS is there. Not only do they play k pop in China, (but keep in mind BTS and BlackPink (you were so close) are not the only groups in k pop). But many k pop groups, both male and female, have Chinese members, Japanese, Thai, Philippino, American, Canadian, Australian, and several others. Normally when they pass an audition, they then to Korea to train, some in upwards of 10 years. Some companies have kids sign as young as 9 or 10 and train for many years before they even debut the kid. They train in singing, dancing, rapping, and in cases of foreigners, the language of Korean. One group called EXO had at one point, out of 12 total members, 4 of them were Chinese. Only one remains. In another group, NCT, there is 23 members total, but they are broken down into 4 subunits. One of these units is called WayV. This unit has 7 members, all of them are either Chinese or Thai. All of them trained in Korea. And even though their main fan base is in China, they still perform in Korea. As for China having KZbin. I don't believe they do. But I'm not quite sure about that. But I do know they have TikTok, well because TikTok is from China. And they have a server called Weibo. It is basically like Google here. One last thing, you asked about what video you should check out next. From Celeste, I believe you should check out her video on BTS and their hardships. And when I spoke of you being informed you remembered that Korean people have a name for over-the-top fans and you remembered that it started with an "S." BTW the word is saesang, (pronounced like "saw-sang.") There are also anti-fans, these are ppl who do not like either groups within k pop or k pop in general and like to stir up problems on the net...saesangs are those fans that are 100% bat shit crazy, following artists around the world, trying to break into hotel rooms, houses, getting jobs at utility companies just to find the artist address and phone numbers and selling this info to other saesangs. There have been attempted kidnappings, while the artist was on stage, and even one artist having superglue put in his O.J. The artist is ok, but at the time he did drink it and he was rushed to the hospital. But these are just a few examples. So I do believe taking a look at the Hardship video will give you info to help understand why ARMY is not only devoted to them but why we are so protective over them. I want to apologize for being so long-winded. I know sometimes I can go a little overboard on the information. I just believe that BTS is worth someone's time, but so is ARMY. And yes I also believe everything, whether it be sports or music groups there are going to be fans that go overboard. But as for ARMY, 95% of us just want BTS to be seen and heard. This is a repeated comment from Patreon- BTS concerts are amazing! Lately they’ve been making it like a city-wide festival with deals with Hotels for BTS themed rooms, BTS menus at restaurants around the city, BTS night at night club for concert after party, pop-up exhibitions, events at theme parks/carnival centers, etc. In Vegas they had BTS themed water fountains show and in Busan they had a Drone show and more. When a BTS concert comes to town, the whole place turns purple. The Empire State Building, the Tower of London, the Kingdom Tower in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and more have all turned purple. Vegas became “Borahaegas” with all the buildings turning purple. Seriously You should google it bc the pictures are crazy 😁.

Great reaction. Thank you for reacting to this I was so happy to see this come up today. I can tell you this, I enjoy all types of music. I'm from Detroit so I grew up in the heart of Motown. I see a lot of similarities to early Motown with Big Hit/Hybe and some of the struggles they had to do to overcome the big three other labels. I am a card caring member of ARMY. Proud of it and willing to pay annually for the right to say that. It's all about the work that they do in the world and I am there to support it.. I am sure there are others who have gone on tour and have seen every show..... if they can get tickets. Just so you are aware BTS-PTD in LA and in Las Vegas sold out with pre-sale only and that was for ARMY only. You had to be ARMY card carrying member recognized on the Weverse site or have had to bought tickets in the past. There was no general sale unless you bought it as a resale which I had to thru a Army fandom page which they gave me a quiz to make sure the tickets were in hand with a true army fan. 😂

25:50 yes there are Chinese ARMY, BTS even released Chinese versions of their songs back in 2015 I think (i remember JK giggling in the recording booth while he was listening to RM rap in Chinese). They even have a Chinese version of their name. Honestly I think it has been a long time since BTS did any promo in China.. But as a kpop industry a lot of groups have Chinese members. SM ent. (one of Big3) even does seperate Chinese groups that heavly promote in China... Whenever I watch any Chinese content I realize I recognise a lot of idols/actors simply because they are or they used to be in kpop groups. But honestly the Chinese censorship is getting out of control especially when it comes to guys, so it is hard to promote in China where things like guys coloring their hair, wearing earings is banned.

China has a ban on all products and content coming from South Korea, including k-pop and BTS since 2016. And there is also the "Great Firewall" so citizens do not have access to Twitter, YT and Instagram. The two countries are in political tension. The thing is that despite that, k-pop is very popular in China, it's a very complex subject and how it works is hard to explain. Just know that BTS is among the top groups in China, only surpassed by the likes of EXO (because they have Chinese members) and BigBang (because they have been active longer than BTS and had the chance to tour and concerts in China for years before the ban, thus cultivating a strong presence). Also, BTS received a lot of backlash unlike other k-pop groups because they were the targets of c-netizens several times (c-netizens : Chinese netizens. Netizens in general in China or South Korea are very powerful on the Internet). The last backlash to date was during the Olympic Games at the beginning of last year, when RM supported the teams of his country to win but also there had been a very violent back in forth between the two countries, especially between the k-netizens (Korean netizens) and c-netizens on traditional outfits that have been appropriated by China, but also the treatment of Korean athletes. Anyway it's a fucking mess, and when RM showed his support for the South Korea team, he received a violent backlash in China. And this is not the first time, in 2020 there was such a big incident because of c-netizens that even the Chinese government had to intervene. So, overall, it's a very complicated relationship, Korean products are not available for sale, artists cannot go and officially promote there unless they are Chinese themselves or under a Chinese company, that's is why c-bars exist (they are basically chinese fans who function as small companies because of the ban and Great Firewall to receive albums, merch from k-pop groups and also consume their content. If you want more infos on c-bars just let me know I'll try to explain more), and BTS is one of the groups that has hardly ever promoted in this the market and has received a lot of backlash, yet they are definitely among the most popular group there. Thank you for the comment. Very educational. What fascinates me is the fact that Chinese BTS Army is some of the most passionate ARMYs when it comes to money they spend on BTS and acknowledging them. It seems like every birthday by one of the members it is the Chinese BTS Army that puts on the most elaborate billboard advertising. They are the ones who buy out Times square, Leicester square, Seoul with digital displays that from an advertiser standpoint cost tens of thousands if not close to million dollars due to the dates and time commitment which is usually over four or five days with their billboard advertising.

@@melgaye0 It's not really Chinese BTS ARMYs as they are solo stans mostly and the OT7 c-bar isn't the biggest, it's Vbar (Taehyung bar) that is the biggest of them all. But, yeah it's crazy the amount of money they put in their projects, Vbar spend 2 years getting money and negotiating to have Taehyung on Burj Khalifa in 2020.

It's a documentary vid that everyone watched until 2019 when more vids started coming out. Discovered your reaction videos and enjoyed seeing your honest reactions. To clarify, those numbers aren't updated. Fandom has grown over the years. BTS Twitter account has currently 45Million followers and those numbers don't even include their KZbin channel (BangtanTV), other social media accounts like Weverse, Facebook and Instagram. ARMY fandom is very diverse and global. We're pretty much organized when doing buying/streaming parties, voting for Awards, creating charity projects, etc. BTS does have a huge fanbase in China. But there's always been political issues (between China-Korea) that can sometimes affect BTS. From what I learned, BigHit (music label) hasn't really focused their promotions in China.

I don't know about anyone else, but even though I follow BTS diligently, I was and still am a fan of other groups. There are literally other great groups out there including BTS. The Grammys were a scam because that year they were nominated as a group they went up against people on collaborations. They weren't even duos. Doja Cat has a million followers but sold only 2500 albums. To put onto context. We toned down the volume on bias fights with bias wreckers and Ot7 (One true 7), meaning that we can have a bias but we love all seven. For example my bias is Namjoon but my bias wrecker is Jhope. However I will always be for Ot7. Edit: Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert are the only TV show hosts that have so far have not messed up with BTS. Halsey is a savage when it comes to reporters disrespecting BTS. Nothing in SK is allowed on China right now. Thank you for giving us so much insight into the music industry. The most impressive thing about this group to me is they have rose to mega fame with Korea ignoring them and discrediting everything they do and the same thing happens in the western market, Billboard has even changed top 100 criteria after an interview with RM where he was asked insultingly about fans supporting and buying a single numerous times, even the media does everything they can to try to earn clicks from Army but with always the most insulting stories , all the true numbers they do are constantly ignored. While Taylor releases 10 different versions of one album it’s okay, BTS release 2 versions and it’s written as “BTS released multiple album versions to get a hit!” They’re never allowed on the same playing field with other popular artists. I get it BTS and their company do not let others put their finger in the pie unless they absolutely have too, they don’t play by the same old rules because they don’t need to and that makes everyone mad.

you know bts is huge when there's been cases of their music getting smuggled into north korea that we know of for sure😭 and they are huge in china (which is insane considering they don't have a chinese member, the most popular korean groups in there typically do), but yeah, there's been an attempt by china to ban them (because of a speech bts made when they won their james a. van fleet award for their contributions to us-korea relations) but regardless, chinese armys remain strong. though bts hasn't actually performed in china many times throughout their career. i would say that their biggest markets in asia outside of korea though are japan, india and the philippines.

Unfortunately (for me), he doesn't cover bts as much as he used to, but it's always tricky to be a fan and to be a creator yourself - and he doesn't want to use being a fan to get to numbers/money. (Maybe he also got tired of the fan discourse online, wanted to try sth new etc.) In comparison, boracity is a newer channel and she does more controversial subjects which are still mid-fan-discourse. It feels more like documenting moments and contributing to the fandom discourse, than putting out big overviews. (Or putting out mind-blowing theories, which Elliot does sometimes.)

Oh, BTS has a HUGE (and very intimidating, tbh) fandom in China. Those are also usually the richest fans who spend the most on BTS projects, albums, merch, etc. Those fans also certainly don't play around and will cut anyone for BTS. Literally went against whole of China's political circle when those had beef with BTS (yes, that happened; quite a few countries had weird beef with them) and remained an untouchable wall. P.S.: the word for bad fans is "akgae". Usually, those are fetishising stans of one or two members who very actively hate on the rest of BTS. P.P.S.: BTS remains the biggest soft power of South Korea, not even joking. Which is why the previous president managed to snatch them, and a new one tried hard too. Koreans occasionally do complain about it because they don't like that such power over in the hands of some 7 musicians.

I started stanning (or fan since a lot say that stanning is being obsessed with someone and I'm not) bts when I was 15 and now I'm 23 I found them when I started high school specially agustd music was my everything because of how his lyrics was so relatable at time I feel like I grew up with them and I will never regret it because through their messages I actually learned a lot about myself being in a Muslim mental health is really a tabo and I always thought I was the only one feeling those feelings but reading bts lyrics I realized I'm not alone that going through hard work and I'm glad I found bts when I was young because now I'm much confident I work hard and everything is going great

China is trying to block out kpop and jpop but Chinese army's spend some of the most money in organizing things. They have their own orgs. Adding some nuance to Korea. On an industry level and politically there is some BS but bts is also a household name and they have the respect of people in general. There are prof, industry professionals etc who have taken time to analyze lyrics, cover army and uniqueness of the fan base etc. Charitable donations are a thing in Korean fans for artists but bts' success and their personalities cultivated something making it global.

BTS have been to Hong Kong, not sure if they went to mainland China. Chinese fandom is HUUUGE!!!! BTS got a rule early in their career not to accept gifts from fans, so fandoms buy advertising for their birthdays or donate to charities. Chinese fans have insane buying power, it's their sheer numbers. BTS are known in North Korea too. I wouldn't know the scale but even N.Korean leader is known to have said something negative about their influence. 😂 Personally, I think, China will let them back in soon enough, the relationship between SK and China will warm up again, it's inevitable.

I just had to add that I live in a rather newer listening area for iHeart; prior to them taking over, the DJ's were very open to requests and did play them. The morning show is very philanthropic and has a charity that gives back to the community through their Baby DJ program or prom dresses for those who can't afford them; I used to volunteer for these programs and donate, as well. However, quite recently, a volume of requests were made by viewers, through their social media sites, to play BTS songs and one of the DJ's said he would not, and made some disparaging remarks about ARMY and that he didn't care if they liked his comments or not. The next day, he apologized for his comments and it was through the power of ARMY (and I'm sure resulting loss of listeners) - who did complain directly to iHeart (this story went viral, btw) , so there is influence there which I would surmise that a DJ could do the same with the higher ups to at least inform them of current trends and the impact of losing viewership. Needless to say, I don't listen to their show very often anymore and have lost respect (they did the same with Swifties) I am an older - and Dynamite era - ARMY; the song and dancing (Jimin-biased) got me into the fandom, but it the members of BTS who have me staying. It is so refreshing to hear their music and performances, but their song lyrics, which they mainly wrote themselves, and the vulnerability to share themselves, is so compelling to keep in the fandom. I get sick of listening to the same songs over and over, and watching performances that are sexualized or involve yelling and screaming versus singing of something important. It's ironic to me, however, that when I mention BTS everyone knows of them. As I am so new, I am watching a lot of content and their struggles hurt me but show how passion can drive one - I could never imagine parents here in the States allowing their 13 year old to go train to become an idol so I am in awe of the parents that do, although I recognize it is a different culture and influence. There is so much to know and learn and I appreciate the info from more experienced ARMY the 'rabbit hole' is real.

I know that you fainting reference to MJ was an analogy, but the fan-base who did faint were the Beatles fans, i.e. 'Beatlemania" - go look at old video from their concerts and Ed Sullivan appearances. I don't know if other artists do, but BTS cares about the safety of their fans, even sending water and snacks to the crowds during their concerts.

I do need to add one more thing on your comment of not having to attend an artist's concert - you are correct but, I would think that one would do more research on an artist, particularly if they are getting requests and trending - wouldn't you want to find out what the 'hype is about? Perhaps that's the researcher and trender in me - but it is how I fell down the 'rabbit hole'

July 2, 2016, BTS held a concert in Nanjing China. Each following tour, they only performed in Hong Kong. The MAMA Awards (formerly Mnet Asian Music Awards) have had dates in Hong Kong from 2012-2018. BTS performed there in 2018. Nothing since.....

About charity: im doing everything i can afford for every member's birthday ( giving food, clothes, money for those who are in need, planting trees, cleaning the parks and streets from trash and etc ). It's not like i didnt do these things before i knew them, but they gave me even more motivation to be a better person

Thank you for watching this documentary. To connect this video with your previous, when you talked about the Michael Jackson's fans, this is a great similarity of the 2 fandoms. MJ and BTS made music for the people and this is why they are loved. Also the fandoms follow by example, and this is how all the charity projects were and still are being created. An other thing that you should know is that the BTS boys always looked up to MJ and even made dance tributes for him. Thank you again and keep being amazing :)
