Also when she was listing the "Different things you could believe in" I was waiting to see how she addressed those of us who did think critically and therefore so *_not_* have a "justified belief" in magic... and to my lack of surprise, we weren't even mentioned. Furthermore, for anyone reading this, I'm also 90% sure the cia/fbi/3 letter agencies hves *_experimented_* with remote viewing/astral projection... doesn't mean it yielded positive results, unless there's a study I'm unaware of, which I'd love to know about since I do personally believe *_some_* people might be truly gifted in some aspect like that, but I don't have any convincing evidence for it. What I do have though is plenty of studies that show prayer in fact *_does not work_* any better than random chance, and if anything might cause worse outcomes than not praying at all... at least by testable, repeatable, demonstrable experiments and not just a collection of *_"lucky"_* anecdotes of people who happen to pray. I'll believe prayer works, as soon as that first person regrows their lost limb, or something similar and not "oh I found my car keys".
@OldDirtyDragon4202 күн бұрын
@@James-iu2km I agree that prayer serves no purpose in the outcome of a situation, but I do believe in it as a form of meditation. Just clearing your head for a few definitely helps. But if you are praying for the death of a driver that just cut you off, I think you are doing it wrong.

OBE: education in which an emphasis is placed on a clearly articulated idea of what students are expected to know and be able to do, that is, what skills and knowledge they need to have, when they leave the school system. i.e. critical thinking, and not just regurgitating memorized passages. Have reached 72 yrs old and still going strong and have learned a few things along the way. As an independent thinker who has never been comfortable going with the crowd, through trial and error I've come to embrace a couple of common denominators for leading a good life. Since I'm not an atheist you could say that I'm agnostic at least. My guiding principles over the years has been that if you lead a moral life (and trust me I have done things I'm not proud of) and simply treat others as I would like to be treated (I'm no masochist either) then everyone would be better off. I've tried prayer on and off over the years but I don't recall ever seeing immediate results, but when things do go my way I'll look up and give thanks. Bottom line, LOVE is the answer, but unfortunately hate seems to be the driving force these days. Live and let live, do what you gotta do, what you gotta believe in to help you get through the day and move ahead, stay happy and keep a positive attitude when shit happens and you'll be all right.

Excellent reply. I'm a cranky old salty dog (US Navy) at 58 and I'm pretty much disgusted with how our country has evolved. That natural general concept of mutual respect has diminished and I find it's only the elders that have this mutual respect in common. Most people under 40 I work with or meet are trash even including the younger Veterans unfortunately. But every Empire falls from becoming weak after time.

Alright young lady, you have to ask yourself, do you have a job? Are you able to afford the basics in life? Can you pay your standard household bills and have money left over for everything else someone wants you to pay? I believe in God and praying too. This is about the cold hard reality of life. And how you and others in your generation are going to work until they get the shovel out for you. In my case, back in the day things were different. But then with the discovery of the cell phone and Internet and money, the mega rich and Wall Street have taken over. I worked most of my adult life and paid into social security. But in 2007 when the Stock market dropped 2000 points me and 40 million other hard working people lost our retirement accounts. Mostly 401ks which are based solely on stock market performance. And we were left with nothing but our social security, which by the way was never meant to be a sole supportive income. But now most of those people instead of enjoying their retirement years they are still working. If you need proof go in any grocery store or Walmart. And I'm sorry to say that one day it might very well be you.
