I encountered Harry Enfield once when I was a spotty teen working at Alton Towers (UK'S biggest theme park). Myself and my friend, basically Kevin and Perry, were washing dishes at corner coffee, before the park opened. He was sat in our coffee shop drinking tea and reading the paper and we both pointed at Him, pissed ourselves laughing, He ruffled his news paper as He looked up and gave us a disconcerting stare as we had a fight in the kitchen to see who was going to wash his cup and who would wipe His table. Circa 1994.

This sketch almost qualifies as a documentary considering how accurate it was to the source material! Good reaction considering the US doesn’t have these politicians vs public shows as we do in the uk. Edit, if by buccaneers you mean Tampa Bay, I hope Hurricane Ian doesn’t hit too close to home. The storm surge looks to be a concern!

Paul Whitehouse is probably best known for the Fast Show.. he predicted that media would be consumed in very short time slots.. turn forward the clock and Whitehouse then teamed up with Bob Mortimer for the slowest paced show for Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing.

This is so accurate. BRILLIANT impression of the host David Dimbleby (that's his real name - not part of the parody!) - the poor quality video made me think it was really him for the first couple of minutes Every Thursday night on BBC1, broadcast live to the nation - this is exactly what it's like. 3 or 4 well known politicians - 1 from each party, and a high-brow writer or entertainer or journalist making up the panel. The host gets to choose who answers each question first, and then which audience members can ask supplementary questions, or give an opinion. It's very loose - there's none of this American debate format - 2 minutes for an answer, 30 seconds for a rebuttal etc. The host decides, sometimes very abruptly, when to move on to the next question. This is the show that is often used for Presidential-style debates and audience questions when it's election time

I’m going to give you the keys to the kingdom. You asked what other Paul Whitehouse sketches were available. Back in the nineties there was a sketch programme called The Fast Show. There were many episodes, and seasons, and it was the best British comedy programme doing sketches since Monty Python. It was started by Paul and his friend Charlie Higson, and had a cast of the best British comedy actors ever. The sketches were short which is why they called it the fast show. So many different characters that will keep you and Queen Boomer going for ages.

You should react to an old episode of Have I Got News For You, perhaps one hosted by Boris Johnson or Brian Blessed, or perhaps the last Angus Deayton one (it's savage). HIGNFY is a topical news show but with an irreverent and comedic take on the stories being discussed. The newer ones are not as good or funny but the ones from the mid-90s to the early 2010s are often hilarious.

The best part of question time is when the presenter wants to take a question from a black man, then uses every descriptive possible to try and describe who he means without just saying, "the black guy over there" which would be much quicker 🤣😂

Non-Brits will find this sketch quite confusing, as many of the jokes are in-jokes, aimed at the apparently overly woke BBC. It was originally a part of a programme to celebrate the 25th anniversary of BBC2, which is meant to be more highbrow than BBC1, which is the BBC's main channel. This is a swipe at Question Time, which is a political panel discussion show with the audience members invited to ask questions to the panel. The moment when the Dimbleby character refers to 'Baroness Token', is an obvious dig at the way certain people from ethnic minorities have been enobled, despite their obvious mediocrity in public life. BTW, you definitely need to check out Peep Show. Start from ep 1 series 1 and try to do the whole show. If you think Father Ted is crazy wait until you watch Peep Show. Cheers from the UK.
