Les seems to be an elaboration on many of Ronnie Barkers characters where he played with words, or always said the opposite of what he meant, or always replied to questions with the answer to the question before or after.... this just instantly reminded me of Ronnie Barker. King Boomer, you should dive into The Two Ronnies clips, more classic British comedy from even further back.

This clueless barman reminds me of a guy that set up as a taxi drivers and my mate recommended me to try him as he was so bad at driving etc. We went through red lights up a one way street the wrong way which I challenged and he said it was a short cut.
