I'm a big fat mess, didn't use to be, just lost control when my Mum died 3 years ago and started comfort eating. I do a manual job which helps, but I've still piled the weight on, just can't stop eating, even when I'm not hungry, no one's fault but my own of course, now I'm continually having to hitch my trousers up as ther're always falling down my @ r se, and if I have to walk up a bit of a gradient I'm sweating like Jimmy S av ille in a mortuary, and my waist has gone from 32" to 42", all in the space of 3 years, and I'm 58 so not so easy to shift as a younger man could. Anyway, I don't mind Ricky having a pop at me for being fat, it is what it is, my fault and no one elses. Keep the videos coming King Boomer, they really are a breath of fresh air, and I agree with you about embrace the suck, ther're a good couple of lads!...ATB, Simon, Nottingham, UK.

Before I get any negative comments and I watched and enjoyed the video I would have appreciated if he had made a comment about people on medication . I was on a certain medication which slowed my metabolism down. I became significantly overweight ,once I came off the medication my metabolism returned to normal and I started to loose weight. As I said I enjoyed the video but at the start I wish he’d put a caveat in regarding any medical issues a person may have 🌸🌸

Yes, but becoming overweight due to a genuine medical issue is a very small minority of people. If a comedian had give a caveat for small exceptions within every joke they made, then that would just suck. And I’m gonna have to push back on you a bit. Even within that small minority, it is still not a reason to be significantly overweight / obese. Absolutely not. The calories in and calories out concept still stands - if your metabolism changes or your medication makes you hungrier, you have had enough time and energy to compensate for that by they time you become obese. At that point, it’s just a matter of giving up. Which is understandable, bc it is hard, but it is NOT some inevitable doom if you care enough. I understand that medication and certain medical conditions make it easier for people to gain weight. But as someone with personal training and mental health experience, people with these conditions make it harder for themselves by not getting their diet under control or changing behavior patterns/lifestyle to compensate for their condition We ALL have challenges that make staying healthy difficult. For ppl like you it’s medication. For others, it’s their thyroid, or being a single mom, or being so depressed it’s hard to even get up let alone work out, or having an eating disorder. There are more caveats than your situation. Do you want him to mention all those as well for a disclaimer? Comedy requires we ignore some nuance to make a joke work. Otherwise, everything would be overly PC and nothing would be funny. So just take the joke, bc that’s what it is: An exaggerated, oversimplified take that’s meant to make us laugh.

No one cares if you gained weight, you only say that after watching this video. It's hard to imagine a woman who would have a boyfriend who's fat and that's sad you know because not all but some people don't want to be with fat people. We all matter regardless of our weight and should get the chance when we find our girlfriend/boyfriends out there to be our special someone instead of people being so quick to judge. That's the big world I guess.

I love Ricky, but this is a huge simplification of peoples relationships with food, I'd say there's often, though not always very complex emotional issues underlying these things, and sometimes physical issues too. Tbh, I think Ricky is mostly talking about his own experiences with food as someone who has fluctuations in their weight Ricky has been pretty open about it.

I’d imagine that telling an overweight person they’ve put on weight doesn’t help as I’m sure they’d know that about themselves. Instead, if they’re a friend ask them to join you for a walk for some company, or if they’d go swimming, or to the gym with you. I’ve helped friends who’ve told me they want to lose weight, by cooking delicious plant based meals for them for a few weeks and meeting them to go for walks every day. Offering encouragement is the best thing to do, instead of saying, “Hey mate, you’ve put weight on, you better get yourself to the gym.”
