In Spain they can understand you in English but if something makes it authentic it is that they love their culture. Maybe it would be better to learn Spanish because you are missing the language that determines hundreds of millions of people.

Punctuality and organisation are very important values in Spain. Not sure what are you talking about and WHY.

Personally I don’t think the language is shocking, you’re in a different country, people shouldn’t expect the majority of countries to speak English so I feel like that’s not a “shock” I feel like something that’s actually surprising is that Spain has other Spanish languages, for a long time I never realised this but when I found out I thought I should have looked into it more and I shouldn’t have assumed either since a lot of countries have more than just one language including the UK so I really should have looked into it more!

The Spanish arrived in America about 200 years before the English. In much of the territory of today's United States, Spanish was spoken about 150 years before English. When in the US they celebrate Jamestown as the first European settlement they "forget" that at that time Spain had already founded, literally, more than THOUSAND cities, hospitals, universities, etc. In America. The famous "mustangs" are descendants of the horses that the Spanish brought to America in the 16th century. And the "cawboys" wear clothing, saddles, traditions copied from the Spanish who inhabited the West peacefully with the natives until the English arrived with their official policy of "the only good Indian is a dead Indian." In fact, the natives sent their children to schools, lived in buildings, dedicated themselves to agriculture and livestock until they were annihilated with the "conquest of the West" and although Hollywood lied and lies a lot, the truth is that they plundered the natives, they were genocided, displaced and imprisoned in concentration camps (reservations) denying them even the most basic civil rights, even denying them a US passport, until a few years ago. The only US states with "reserves" are those with a Spanish name: Montaña (with Ñ), Colorado, California, Texas, New Mexico, Florida, etc. Although later it is Hollywood, Netflix, HBO, National Geographic and the New York Times that call us Spaniards genocidal and slavers. When Spain abolished slavery several centuries before you, it allowed mixed marriages several centuries before the US, etc. etc All the Yankee universities, from Harvard to the most unknown, teach courses on "Latin American Colonies", it is difficult to lie more than two words. Spain did NOT have colonies, they were viceroyalties, general captaincies and provinces with subjects in equal conditions, rights and duties, in America, Africa, Asia and Europe, whether white, black, native or mestizo. But the genocidal and slaveholders are the... Spaniards... and the Yankee mass media say it... and repeat it a thousand times and a thousand more times, but reality and history is stubborn, it was the other way around. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKa8qZmOlrWAprc kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWSqonVviahpb9U Los españoles llegaron a América unos 200 años antes que los ingleses.

@@LuisRodriguez-xk1su While I thank you for more info, I haven't looked into this too much but I will eventually, I have to wonder how this relates to my comment about me being surpised that Spain has multiple languages? I'm not American so I never looked into Spanish and US relations in regards to history that much.

@@pipercharms7374 Spain (and Europe) have a very different and much older history than America (discovered and civilized by Spain, by the way). Spain arrived in America 200 years before the English, at that time Spain was the greatest power: cultural, military, naval, scientific, etc. That is why she discovers 60% of the planet's territories and seas. In much of today's US, Spanish was spoken 150 years before English. And the conquest of the West (far west) is a Hollywood hoax, when the "Americans" arrive, the Spaniards had already been living peacefully with the natives for decades, they sent their children to school, spoke Spanish, etc. In fact, there are only natives in the US in the states with a Spanish name (which were Spain): Montaña (with Ñ), Colorado, California, New Mexico, Florida, etc. You celebrate Jamestown as the first European settlement in America but you "forget" that on that date Spain had already founded, literally, more than THOUSAND cities, universities, hospitals, etc. In America. Spain has great differences in climate, orography, people, customs, etc. a few kilometers away. Current (peninsular) Spain has about 500,000 km2 but is divided into 17 regions (autonomies) each with its customs, traditions, etc. and although geographically close with notable singularities. In the north: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country and Catalonia, in the center: León and Castile in the east (Mediterranean): Levante, Murcia, Andalusia inside: castilla la mancha in the south: Extremadura, Andalusia and there are still two small territories in North Africa: Ceuta and Melilla and the archipelagos: the Balearic and Canary Islands.

@@LuisRodriguez-xk1su I don’t celebrate Jamestown as the first European settlement… I’m British not American, we don’t talk much about our ancestors going over to the US, it’s not a thing we talk about or give much thought too. I can bet the majority of Brits who are not super interested in history won’t even be know what’s Jamestown is? And again not sure how this has anything to do with my previos comment? I am in fact very interested in Spain and currently trying to learn the language, the main language Castilian though I am still only a beginner. When I first started learning Spanish that’s when I realised there where multiple Spanish languages which interested me.

Tapas can be little food that you get for free with a drink it doesn’t always mean that! Tapas is also what you share with other people so they a normal 1 serving so don’t order multiple tapas thinking your going to get multiple small portion of food, ask how big the portion size is first which can be done by gestures or something basic like, name of food grande? Which means large and they got my meaning while I was in Spain so yeah, ask first, though usually ración/tapas will be a 1 serving meal
